Favorite protagonist tropes?

So what I want to know is what is a specific trait or trope or personality that makes a character stand out to you?

For me I really like the characters who “don’t exist” or those who have the knowledge of where to look can only find [redacted] especially when they are the one-man army style characters like noble six of halo reach, the Point Man of FEAR, Cipher Nine (the imperial agent character) in Star Wars: The Old Republic.

i find these kinds of characters who have this aura to them that they are clearly way more capable than their station should suggest and the people at the top are the only ones who really know of the characters existence as one of their own

I really like characters that have to pretend that they have an impairment or ailment to hide the fact that they are magic. Like in Cantata, Within Your Eyes and Misplaced.

I adore the characters who are strong, usually polite, but when someone needs help they ignore any and all law or order and just go ‘haha, sorry, people need help, I’ll postpone pretending you actually can order me around’. Usually superheroes, but many ‘you are the ruler’ games give the option of ‘I’m king I do what I want’.

My ideal trait is an MC thats not oblivious to obvious signs of attraction from LI. Like yes those are bedroom eyes. No that sudden redding of face is not a fever.

I will follow this thread with great interest.

You like MC’s with superpowers, I see.

Strong selfless character, who might act rude upfront but wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice themselves for the loved ones when it’s needed. For example the mcs from Forsaken, I’the forgotten one or the mage reborn.

I really like characters like that who are OP but they don’t rush in and solve all the issues themselves and instead help others and only really step up if you harm their friends or are unambiguously bad people like killers and slavers and what have you. they will aid their friends as much as possible to help them get stronger or to step up against their rivals with out ruining any kind of growth they could have

I like morally grey characters, like the characters in Remember, You Will Die, Fallen Hero, and Samurai of Hyuga. No one is entirely good or bad, so this makes them more realistic and relatable.

An actual normal person. Not edgy, not psychotic. Just a normal dude whose view is that of an actual functioning adult.

what kind of myth is that!

Mythically rare. Need more characters like that. Instead of asking if your protagonist smoke or drink why not ask if your protagonist prays or do their taxes.
