Fallen Hero: Retribution release thread! (Book Two) (Spoilers Inside!)

Mustached Ortega, only because the 3rd Luigi reference is forever gold.

I ended up with a bearded Ortega on my first playthrough by accident: I just thought that saying his moustache got lonely without a beard was very funny. :joy: I didn’t realise that he would actually change his facial hair for Sidestep. Also, his beard tickles Sidestep when they kiss - it’s too cute!

Since I romanced him on my first playthrough, bearded Ortega became my favourite. But I made sure that I had different Ortegas in different playthroughs, and even put the state of his facial hair in my spreadsheet among other very important information.

This guide is :sparkles: brilliant :sparkles:!! Have they or anyone else made a similar type of guide for Retribution?

I think I saw one in reddit, although I’m pretty sure someone uploaded it here as well.

Thank you!! The amount of work to make this is insane. Wicked kudos to Dogue Teeth, dayum.

Also WOWOWOW, Lady Argent’s biggest secret reveal has me positively realing . . . .

It’s because of his HB scar :eyes: Poor guy. He’d probably dye his hair pink if Sidestep said he would look good with it.

Oh I can see my Step who made him shave his mustache by accident saying it to tease him instead and then being horrified after seeing that he really did it. He would regret suggesting it for a long, long time (while also being secretly touched by it, he’s a hopeless romantic deep down)

I have a question, please someone tell me if you know the answer.

Does Lady Argent normally have visible pupils? She has triple pupils in certain moments, but does she usually have normal singular pupils, or no pupils at all? I thought she had them, but I reread this part, and it sounds like normally she has none: For the first time, you can see her pupils. Little black pinpricks. Three little black pinpricks in each eye, focusing squarely on you.”

Edit: @malinryden Thank you for replying!

Nope, they are normally silver as well.

Not sure where else to ask. I was wondering, without spoiling it too much if it’s possible to make choices in book one that can lock you out of romancing or being on better terms with the heroes in book 2?

I’m mainly wondering because I started playing Retributions and it said that Herald saw my villain persona as a villain…which makes sense but I wonder

I kind of want to go for a Zuko villain sort of angle so I don’t want the character to be completely irredeemable in the heroes eyes. I’m kind of wondering if I went overboard in that case. (I had my character blow up the museum, though they didn’t kill anyone, they did beat up Herald and Ortega a good bit though)

There isn’t any choice that i know of in book 1 that stops you from romancing any of the Rangers in book 2, and the only ones that make you being on worse terms with them while being a villain are killing people and not repenting (and even then it depends on why you kill people in general, and the Ranger in specific), or blowing up the museum and doing a massacre.

Herald seeing your villain persona as a villain is the “default” relationship after the museum. If anything, i say that’s the best first impression he can have of the villain. The other possibilities are him feeling humilliated after the fight and wanting a rematch, being afraid of the villain or seeing the villain as their nemesis.

As i said before, the only cases where the Rangers don’t have that good of an impression of the villain is if they kill without a reasonable cause, or if they comitted a massacre at the musseum, so you’re good if you want to make a redemable villain.

Lock you out? No.
The story might have many twists and paths, but they all lead to the same place. That is the nature of stories.

Your particular goal is within reach, but they’re still going to feel betrayed when/if they learn the truth. People can hurt each other and still forgive. What’s a little assault, theft, and property damage between friends?

Well there is a lock out with Ortega in the Revelations demo but it’s only on one path so far and it’s a choice made by the player/Step in the moment

With, of course, the exception of Argent, who was flirting with the villain before she knew it was Step.
