But that’s one of the goodest most justice seeking paths. The other is hero trainer.
What do you mean anarchist is good for scorched earth? Chen likes it, Ochoa thinks Sidestep’s a hero, and everyone knows politicians are just lizard people and deserve to die.
Hopefully this is not saying too much but it’s due to a character that has not appeared so far. This person to me screams very high body count if you chose to work together with them (Which Malin said is a choice you can make) in a way I don’t not see any of the rangers accepting even if you turn them (Could be wrong here of course)
Not even a dethreaded Chen with like 70 doubt?
Once again hope I’m not saying too much here but from what I understand doubt is less how much the Rangers agree with Step and more how much of a problem they have with the system they live in and their role in it. It doesn’t make them automatically agree with everything Step is doing even if you get it super high
I really hope that person is not who i’m thinking is going to be. I don’t want my main Sidestep meeting them.
Well, I suppose that’s why we have political influence.
I hope they still help in some way though.
I don’t think any amount of doubt towards the system is going to make any of the Rangers buy into mentality that anything goes and piles of corpses are an acceptable price.
What’s the deal with these gates? Once after choosing this option, I got the achievement - gate open but when I played the route that was almost the same, I didn’t get it.
The same in the scene before visiting the Ranger - My shields are fraying fast.
I don’t think some achievements show up after you get them the first time but that choice always gets you one gate
Yes, achievement flags are persistent across playthroughs, so the ones you’ve already collected don’t pop up.
They’re stored in local file named storePSfallenheroretribPSachieved
if someone is curious.
The best theory I have come up with.
Opening them all causes heartbreak.
You can try to open all 9 in a single playthrough, under very specific requirements and attempts, but it only makes 7 gates open and the last 2 appear cracked and almost off their hinges, before Sidestep closes and reinforces them once more. They won’t come off, they will stay strong through it all.
Anyways, generally it requires high mental stats, high scar level, suicidal tendencies and mental exhaustion to open a gate, and there are even some scenes that let you close them, like the montaray, and beating the empty, black mirrors.
In my experience, high mental stats allow you to avoid testing the gates. There’s only one gate that opens at high mental stats.
There’s three actually.
Although, thinking back about it you are right, it’s not high mental stats, it’s high force. You can kick your subtle manipulations stat in the face by letting Heartbreak control your body in the mental fortitude way, then choosing to look into its eyes to sacrifice 10% of your subtle manipulations and take another 20% to will and you will be doing just as well in collecting gates.
Specifically, the three gates that require high will are, in order of appearance
“Meeting Mortum as yourself, telling her the truth (requires that your feelings are real) and then running after him.” If you have 80+ force you get a little scene where it’s mentioned how people seem to be turned away from you and the Dr. (Powers running wild)
“Shields are fraying fast” the one you know
“Hangout with Chen. He knew, and he did nothing. No, calm down, it’s not Chen’s fault.” Again, if you have 80+ force, you get a little scene where a vet fucking stabs himself with a fork, your powers are out of control and you’re too powerful for that to be safe.
And it can really help with opening gates at the auction, if you have 75+ will and telepathy upgrade you can take control of a guard to take down the security system, which will instantly leave you exhausted, and therefore allow you to open the gates easier. My favourite way to do this is
"Mayhem, total destruction. Control a guard to take down everything. Make the guards shoot at the crowd (+1 gate as long as you also have like 100 scar) I twitch as I turn to them, why aren’t they dead yet? (+1 gate high scar as well) Time to leave. Move, move, they need to Move. MOVE. (+1 gate and reveals your telepathy to Hollow Ground. Arguably a good thing if your Subtlety is really shitty because he will rely on the dampener and ignore whatever psychic intrusion may be strong enough to break through them)
Ah, that’s good! Thanks for clearing @Nm6tys @fsix
My main Sidestep has only 2 gates open. Still safe and in control.
You can get a gate if you stick around at high force? Huh.
Most times, when I try for that gate, I just ditch him at “He knew and did nothing” and get the gate.
Although my primary Step has a whopping zero gates.
Nah, I just punched a black mirror. That and my main Step is with Danny (and sometimes Danny and Ortega).
Did you happen to visit a very handsome fella and peek around his mind for it?
Oh, I see. I think either of those actually reduce your scar if you have no gates open actually. Of course I’m pretty sure your scar can only ever get to 50 but, you know, healing’s a long process.
This is correct:
#The mirror is black, with something moving in the depths.
// ...
*if gate >= 1
*set gate - 1
*goto crashselect4
*else
*set scar - 10
*gosub s
*goto crashselect4
I’ve played Fallen Hero: Rebirth and Retribution several times, but one lore event I still don’t know the full story of (probably because I haven’t read all the lore post on the Patreon) is the Nanosurge.
Can someone give me a TLDR on that? What happened, who was involved, etc…?
