Strong agree, we need more suplexes.
It is still my favorite scene in the first Avengers movie, where Hulk slams Loki all over the room in the middle of his villainous speech.
Trickster god? Yeah, trick these hands, buddy.

Specifically German ones.

What the hell is the big bad gonna do when I keep hitting them with this over and over? Nothing, that’s what. That sword ain’t shit against my technique.
On a kind of related note, I wish more games would let you be an unarmed fighter and maybe different fighting styles (definitely wrestling should be one). In more modern settings it’s usually a generic punch or something by building a strength stat, but I would like more detailed fighting and I would love to be given the option to not just be a sword/bow/magic archetype in a fantasy game and instead be a suplex magician lol
There is a new wip called Path of Martial Arts which just might be your thing depending on your opinion of Wuxia.
I saw it. I’m trying to give it a little more time until I get into it, but I hope it turns out great!
Apart from the one martial arts CoG, there really isn’t any martial arts themed stories on offer, so I’m pleasantly intrigued, and will look into this WIP… once it’s a bit more fleshed out, of course. Like, a couple of chapters or so, so that I can get a somewhat more robust experience.
YO
You have such a way with words.
Ah the suplex mage; unlike their far weaker brethren such as the black mage and the white mage who throw spells, the suplex mage has spent years honing their technique and has mastered the art of throwing hands.
so a monk in mage robe? ![]()
Alternatively, a mage who refuses to admit they f***ed up their build and put way too many points into strength, instead just rolling with it.
That’s just a gish, nothing wrong with that.
As hilarious as that sounds lol, I just mean’t with all the fantasy stuff (CoG and other games) that constantly come out by the dozen usually with the same weapon types, races that are just tweaked slightly, kingdoms, and stuff it would be great if we could get something cool like unique fighting styles. I’m just sick of the trinity of archetypes that pretty much are the same in all games. I get that its simple so it works, but come on where is the creativity! Let me give the evil King or Queen one of these and I would be happy.
Oh man, that look like…perfection! You know, like when you get that Muscle twisted in the back of your neck? And you wish you could do something about it? Cause its screwing your sleep, and your head feel heavy?
Yeah, totally would love one of these! ![]()
Sounds like my DA:O mage, who insists on wielding a sword but refuses to become arcane warrior.
I love playing a sword-wielding mage, but this one specialized as shapeshifter/spirit healer, so. (Also it, amusingly, made him better against magic-dispelling enemies than arcane warrior would have been.)
Arcane warrior was fun…but yeah, I’m like can I keep my Stick?
God, I fucking love Tekken. Hopefully you can learn wrestling moves in Street Fighter 6’s World Tour Mode! Heard my boy Zangeif is supposed to have a Jackhammer.

Now there’s something, I’m tired of magic staves being treated like these super weak things that are only good for casting magic but couldn’t even swat a fly, or that the mage using it can’t get physical on a moment’s notice.
Do you know how badly you could get screwed up by taking a hit from a quarterstaff? Taking a stick upside a guy’s head could do damage! And even the wimpiest mage can get a good, solid swing on a weapon, for crying out loud!
On that note, why can’t you just use a spear or something for that? If it’s just a tool for channeling magic, then theoretically anything should work, right? If it has to be a magic stave specifically, why not just tie a freaking knife to the end? Mages out there being useless in close quarters getting cut down by barbarians when they could just spear people
Fighting effectively with a spear or a staff is much more difficult than you’re thinking, imo. Just having the weapon isn’t going to help them much unless they’re skilled in using it, and they’re spending most of their time learning magic instead of weaponry, studying instead of exercising, etc.
