Diabolical — Rule the world as a criminal mastermind!

@5ubzer0

I agree. So many funny lines in the game.

So I read diabolical and it started out as one of my favorite games on the site. But suddenly having multiple romance options thrown at you at once didn’t sit right with me particularly since you really don’t have any real attachement to them when they get killed off in the next scene, but maybe that’s the point of a criminal mastermind- no attachments and regrets? and the ending sequences from that point on seemed a bit rushed. I would have actually enjoyed the game more with the romantic interest angle left out personally. Other than that though, enjoyable game. Some funny points that kept the writing nice and light hearted overall. Fun to be able to work for the dark side for something different

Yeah! I’d been at complete peace that I would only be able to flirt occasionally with the Director and then wham! He’s in my bed. It ruined the character for me, tbh. He went from cool spy guy who should be my enemy but we mutually respect each other. It was nice. But then ugh. Look what they became.

I mean maybe with the attachment, but I don’t buy that. It wasn’t presented that way, you know? I didn’t feel like my character was hardened. Those characters had just regressed to flat caricatures. What you’re suggesting would’ve been great if we were given the choice to react that way.

It was an interesting experience, had some really good moments. BUT I felt it was a little ‘shallow’ like there could have been more to it.

There’s nothing wrong with the chaotic fun, but some things seemed redundant to mention when one could fleshed out some of the richer scenes instead of having a mini bit about something that made no difference in the long run.

There’s alot possible here, I liked alot of the story but it was more an entree than a meal. A few paragraphs more here and there, strip out the irrevelant parts, have a little ME time with the romancable options give a little character development and back drop.

It’s still a fun ride but it needs… just a little ‘more’.

I do agree that I would have liked more time with the Romance options. It felt so brief, it didn’t feel like a deep connection. I can definitely see where more depth could have been added.

But I also loved the game, and I’ve replayed it several times already. I like the way you can play villains with different sorts of motives, because those different playthroughs are so fun. The game is a silly, chaotic, funny ride, and I enjoyed it a lot overall.

I romanced Steelheart while playing a Robin Hood style villain. I actually felt the romance was gradual and quite natural in pace, particularly considering the slightly slapstick tone of the piece. I also liked how even the characters found it mildly annoying and a little ironic when I managed to bring Steelheart back from the dead at the end. But at least my MC was pleased.

I do agree with what @Snoe said regarding redundant sections (some of the minor clashes with law and other villains come to mind here). The plot could have used some good tightening with a solid spanner.

I really did enjoy the flexibility of my MC. I played through three times to try some different types of MCs. The details of the story varied nicely, especially as far as my character and the relationships/motivations were concerned. Oh, and the endings differed rather a lot too. The three endings I reached were quite distinctive; one I particularly liked, and one I particularly disliked, so all in all good motivations to try again.

I didn’t “get” the ending.

Granted, Diabolical was very different than I expected. I was hoping for something serious and deep, and if you read it, you know it is anything but that. Regardless, I tried enjoying it for what it is, and it made me laugh multiple times, but it did not made me feel like a player in any moment in the game.

In fact, most of my choices, based or random, seemed to have either the same effect than any other would, or just progress to the next page without any meaning. I never felt my statistics influencing on anything but the ending, and they even did so wrongly. The entire game detailed and played out my character as something different than I wanted to have made him, and at the very ending, I could not even choose something I wanted to do because my character fails to complete it, for no good reason, and the entire “adventure” falls as pointless.

From what I gather reading other people’s comments, they got exactly what they wanted. I’ll try playing the game a few more times and see if I can understand a new way to face it and hopefully play it in such a way that takes benefit from the development, if there is any.

But I’m disappointed. The first playthrough is meant to be intense and meaningful. It was anything but. It felt like a ride where my thoughts and choices had little meaning, and not even the very ending had my mark on it.

Hell, the worst part of all was when I decided to vent The Countess out of the space station, and the game just told me “You press the button for venting her, but then you think again and decide better not to.” What the heck, I can’t even choose what’s presented to me, truly! That goes against the very definition of choice and interaction. I’m disappointed.

I could not even choose something I wanted to do because my character fails to complete it, for no good reason

There is a reason: the ending you choose has to fit with the personality of your character. For example, if you want to successfully destroy the world, your character must have been very lethal.

I know, I understand. However, I do not find it fair, because I did not feel I molded my character at any point in the game. That’s why I disliked it.

Truth be told, I am also against the idea that you are restricted by dual stats, such as good and evil, or straightforward and manipulative, or any other combination, because these things should be representative instead of limiting. One can be good at one point, and evil at another, and yet still choose to do something completely different from his greater alignment at any point.

Think of the Catwoman character for instance. She’s a thief and considered evil by most. Yet, in some circumstances, she’s know for performing acts of good, and she does so successfully

But I digress… The point is, I thought myself capable of taking the action I wanted to, and I found it unreasonable that any statistics I had at that moment would impede me. If the game let me create my character the way I wanted from the beginning, such as taking the actions I wish when I wish, then perhaps the result would not have been the same, and I might feel differently.

Regardless, I was still disappointed that I was capped like that, for what seemed like no good reason.

I’ve played the game several times but I can’t figure out if the Drake is romancable or “insane”. Can someone tell me please?

As far as I can tell you can’t romance the Drake. Yes, you can flirt, but I think that is the extent of it.

Thanks that was bothering me!

Vain and shallow as it may seem, I like how the PC is described as attractive more than once by different characters. It’s very flattering! Although, I accidentally saw this in one of the comments but… is the ONLY way to keep my love interest alive resurrection? Because I keep losing them either when the XXXX drop down when I XXXX the XXXX, or they die JUST before the final confrontation… in which I died in a rather theatrical fashion alongside Steelheart. I’d rather live out my days ruling the world with my lover at my side! Dx

All I can get is just one lover. If you resurrect multiple people, then it brings about the zombie apocalypse…it would have been nice to have Jane Steelheart and The Countess both by character’s side.

Know it’s been a while but it’s been bothering me: Can you romance the Drake or are they just a crazy vigilante?

Just a crazy vigilante. There are choices to flirt with them, but they don’t go beyond that.
