They’re right, your game needs to pass both Quick Test and Random Test x 10,000 to be published. Quick Test also tends to better at finding bugs to boot.
Are you running Quick Test through CSIDE? When I ported my code from Notepad++ to CSIDE it bugged out trying to convert tabs to spaces. I also tried running Quick Test with a bunch of öä in the code + comments with no problem. If so, you might want to try and run the version of Quick Test that came prepackaged with Choicescript instead. (That’s the version that’ll be used for testing your game for publication as well)
Otherwise, the most common reason behind the “Illegal mixing of spaces and tabs” error is caused if you’re using tabs to indicate coding indentation and then start a new line with a space.
Like this…
This is a line that has no indentations.
*if (indentation)
And this new line starts without a space so it's fine.
*else
This line however starts with a space and thus will cause errors in Quick Test (and possibly periodically in the game as well)
Also, are you trying to compile the game through CSIDE? I compiled a game that purposefully failed Quick Test with no problems using the compiler that came with the Choicescript code (basically drag compile.html into a browser window and the window updates with…
Click here to download your compiled game.
The newest version of Choicescript comes in a folder called choicescript-main, although older versions of CS came in folders called dfabulich-choicescript-[insert-release-number-here]
Although generally, you’re going to want to fix the game so it passes the default Quick Test anyway.
Goal number is only partially accurate, updates won’t be released the moment the first number reaches the latter. Progress can range from 0 to 40,000 words a week depending on circumstances.
Yeah, on CSIDE. And I’ve also ported my code from Notepad++ to CSIDE, so I have the same issue with the tabs&spaces.
Great advice overall, I’ll be sure to try it out tomorrow or next week.
The illegal mixing thing is a weird error for sure, I’ll double check it. Shouldn’t Randomtest turn that up too, which makes it extra strange?
I didn’t attempt to compile at all due to how daunting it seemed based on the instructions I saw. I just didn’t understand them. I’ll see about it again with your example, if it’s that easy should be no problem. The instructions I read made it seem far, far more complicated.
Anyway, fortunately I’ll be re-editing the game very soon anyway, shouldn’t be all that impossible to fix it for Quick Test at the same time. Would be really annoying if I wasn’t going to touch it, though.
Minimal progress now and for the likely foreseeable future, really busy with other real-life stuff.
I’ll have lots of free time from May onwards, so it may be a while until I get to really working on the game. Hopefully will be able to get the Carr-Mouse update out way before that(and the Stillwater improvements, of course. Busy-ness doesn’t help with my desire to push it out to the public ).
Also, I did manage to get the game to itch io(after a few hours of trying), with a save system included. (which I hope works properly between sessions, it does work within the session at least)
However, I had to use some older/edited files in a few instances(mainly the “inventory” screen which doesn’t work properly) to get it to function at all. I’ll try to make it work at a later date.
It may be that there are various other problems with it, I didn’t test it much at all, so sorry in advance if something goes wrong.
Also, the itch page for the game doesn’t work properly for me, so I had to cross-reference some pictures to have an idea of what I was doing with the various “…” options. Hopefully I didn’t mess anything up so I won’t get into trouble.

Despite the slower progress I managed to get one of the parts finished. As has often been the case, it’s entirely possible I’ll still tune it later, but at the moment I’m satisfied with it.
Carrington/Mouse one night stand progress:
Mouse party part: 18,000 / 20,000
Carrington party part: 25,500 / 25,500
Shared party part: 17,000 / 20,000

Managed to get the Carrington explicit part done, for now. As above, may change it later depending on things but currently it’s adequate.
That said, I’m also sick once more, so probably little/no progress next week, even amidst the busy-ness. (depends on the severity. Since Thursday it’s been pretty tough, but if I start feeling better I might be able to write an okay amount since being sick also means fewer responsibilities in real life. But if I feel too good that means back to busy times. )
Won’t be long until I’m forced to post the Stillwater improvements, since I do need to post them before I finalize the Mouse parts, as I’d like to have the feedback on it before that.

Finished with the shared explicit part. All that’s left is the Mouse explicit part.
Looks like I’ll have to post the improvements to the Stillwater update next week.
(since I want feedback on it to truly finish this one. In any case, both will be posted this month barring something weird )

It may be slow, but it’s certainly being updated. The last year and a half haven’t been great for general progress, but we’ll get back to that very soon, and if all goes well progress should be quite rapid for the next 3 or so months. But things rarely go as planned, so…
Forgot it was Mother’s Day weekend, so no Stillwater update today or tomorrow since I’ll be too busy to be present in case of problems with the update.
I will see if I can post it early next week though, rather than the weekend, since it’s embarrassing to delay once more.
(it’ll have to be a day that’s mostly free for me, so I can’t say which day it might be until I’ve dealt with my other responsibilities)
My apologies.
