[CSIDE] The ChoiceScript IDE

Sorry, but I have no F12 key on my Chromebook keyboard :slightly_frowning_face: Could this error be due to a poor internet connection?

I’m not familiar with Chromebooks, so I can’t say much with conviction.
Can you see if you can follow the following steps within Chrome?

Perhaps I have a clue now.

I paste a probably helpful message from the Console here:

web/:1 Access to fetch at ā€˜https://content.dropboxapi.com/2/files/download’ from origin ā€˜https://choicescriptide.github.io’ has been blocked by CORS policy: No ā€˜Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ header is present on the requested resource. If an opaque response serves your needs, set the request’s mode to ā€˜no-cors’ to fetch the resource with CORS disabled.

Hi @CJW

Alas, I am now experiencing the same error on my MacBook. When I use the online version of ChoiceScript IDE using Chrome, some scenes don’t load. They show a red triangle with a ! in. When I try to run the game, a message saying ā€œFailed to Fetchā€ appears.

It’s just the same as in my Chromebook.

Thanks for the extra info Gilbert, I’ll aim to dig into this sometime this week.

Hello! Could I please get added the guide? I have the same issue on windows 10

Sooo… I’m having a hard time figuring this out.

As most of choice games that i played, at very top of first scene there are game title and the author’s name.
Those 2 have bigger font size than the rest of it. How to increase the font size of specific text? Not all text of it, because i know there are option in the CSIDE settings.

Thx:)

AFAIK there is no way to increase the font size of a specific piece of text in choicescript, and therefore not in CSIDE either.

So… maybe my explanation was confusing you. And I can’t upload images here, so I’ll just use links.
Wayhaven first page screenshot
Above is first page of Wayhaven Chronicles, the titles are bigger fonts than the author’s font. Do you know how to make this possible? i don’t know how… it’s just aesthetic purpose, because titles of the game often in big font size.

You mean you want to have the title and author name appear the same way in your own game? At the top of your startup.txt, use *title and *author commands. If you want it for some other purpose, it’s not possible.

Hmmmm, idk, i did use that command, and yeah they’re just… gone… i didn’t even see the line text when i run the game… maybe i should extract the game first to see them… idk, there’s still a lot to learn

i guess it’s just not important for now, it’s just for aesthetic purpose tho. Having the game title and author bigger font than the rest of the game is neat. Maybe I’ll just ask author herself.

@LiliArch has told you how it’s done. No author you could contact does it any special way. *title and *author at the top of your startup.txt file. That’s the whole deal.

The title and author headings won’t show in the game window if it’s too small. Because CSIDE runs the game in a small panel, you might find you’re falling foul of that. If you collapse your scene panel or use the pop out button on the game view you should be able to see your title and author headers properly.

Hi there,

after installing CSIDE I’m getting an error regarding the update.

First the program tells me to download the update (first message box in the snippet), but when I click on ā€œdownloadā€ I get two error messages (see the other two boxes in the snippet).

Is there a way how I can get rid of this error and download the update?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Here the link to the snippet (I wasn’t allowed to add the image to the post):

Interesting. You can try to update manually. I’m assuming you’re using Windows?

Download the following file:
https://choicescriptide.github.io/downloads/updates/targets/133.zip

Rename it to ā€œpackage.nwā€ (133.zip → package.nw) and replace the matching file in CSIDE’s installation directory.

Awesome, thank you very much! It worked!

Hi everyone.

Today, I tried accessing CSIDE online, but it didn’t work at all.

A black page appeared with this error: Error (503)

Something went wrong. Don’t worry, your files are still safe and the Dropbox team has been notified. Check out our Status Page to see if there is a known incident, our Help Center and forums for help, or head back to home.

I hope it’s a momentary issue.

Sounds like Dropbox was down as opposed to CSIDE. I would imagine it’s working again now?

Yes. Thank you.

Alas, the previous glitch still shows up

For the scenes that don’t load, if you select them CSIDE will attempt to reload them. Does that help at all? Not a fabulous UX experience but it might get you moving.
