Philosophically, we have several major objectives as a company. The first, and nigh-explicit one, is to promote equality of gender and sexual-orientation in video games. We feel that we can meaningfully contribute to the improvement of our culture through giving players equal opportunity to tell their own stories in our games.

Note that you do have games like Eerie Estate Agent, and a couple of the other games where you don’t actually pick a gender, and so you can just imagine your protagonist as whatever you want. It’s just that when there’s a choice, at the very least that choice should include male and female.
