COMING THURSDAY: "Fog of War: The Battle for Cerberus," NEW Author Interview, DEMO, and TRAILER

@Dino

This is all still true, and we don’t know when iOS will allow us to release the game on the omnibus. We’re working on it.

For those wondering it just arrived on iOS.

I really liked this! (5* review, Play store) It’s a quick read, and the action is excellent. If I were to offer a critique, I felt the characters and relationships were a bit wooden, but it still kept me very entertained. I’ll be checking out the author’s novels as well.

We need some love for this review-wise guys and gals! It’s having a rough time on the Play store and could really use a few more 5 stars!

To be honest i was not dazzled by the game, I was looking very much
forward to it
but it was kinda anticlimactic. No matter how you
play you basically get the same epilogue with minor differences.

The writing was good and the choices were decent.

I would give it 3.5 stars on the App store and 6 if rating
on COG’s scale.

I happened to try to romance Celi and spent everytime I could with her. Then at the ending I got she started talking about her husband and that was kind of it. Not sure if I did something wrong or something. Also there are alot of events that happen like with Garcia that I dont know whether its scripted or not so im never sure if I did something wrong so it hasnt been the best time for me with the game.

I really enjoyed this book and would love to see another in this world but I agree about the relationships feeling a bit wooden. Related to this I didn’t really get enough time to know and get attached to all of the characters.
spoiler:For example when we have to make the decision to save our Sergeant or not when he is bleeding out I didn’t feel like I knew the character for it to be a difficult decision.

Part of this may have been the expectations I came in with as I bought it because I am a fan of Mass Effect and was expecting to bond more with our team.

I played it twice and both playthroughs are quite similar; so in terms replayability, which is one of the fun (if not best) part of IF is rather low, imho.

The writing is great though and I enjoyed it but we don’t really have many opportunities to interact with many characters (everytime there’s option to interact I always pick RO) so when one dies, it doesn’t evoke any feelings. It’ll be great if we get option to interact with RO and non-RO characters without having to sacrifice the other. But I understand that means tons of works for the author.

In general my view is quite positive and I enjoyed playing it but is it up there in my list of fav IF, unfortunately not.

Just played this game alongside my partner, and we had a blast. The setting and scenario is grounded enough to not set off ‘this is bull%$&#’ and ‘how did this idiot not get shot’ flags every few minutes, and the writing and stats were intuitive enough that I made it to a pretty good ending without dying or making any too serious mistakes even without checking the stats screen.

Two things we were disappointed about were:

  1. That all the ‘boots on the ground’ ROs are male while the indirect command/air support ROs are female. That and that one comes across as a cougar, which isn’t my thing, and the other acted overly friendly (oh, the horror) on our first meeting and I wouldn’t have touched that romance with a ten foot pole after that. My partner liked her enough to romance her on their first playthrough, but regretted it because:
  2. The MC and at least a few of the main NPCs (including the friendly female RO) are shown to be drinking during the game. Neither me nor my partner drink, and I’m not sure what kind of rules would count on a military space ship who knows how many years in the future, but I’d think it’d be common sense not to drink while you’re in a situation where you could be sent into a combat situation with only a few hours notice as is shown in the game.

Other things we liked is the way the game displayed the ‘opposing force’, both the civilian and the not so civilian faction of it, and how even though the player’s character is the main character is the hero of the story they’re not directly in charge but rather influencing the decisions of the people who are in charge. It makes the game feel a lot more realistic than if the MC somehow managed to singlehandedly save the entire planet or something similarly outlandish.

The writing is also very solid, to the point where we didn’t realize some events in the game weren’t scripted because the branching paths were written well enough to feel “like the main path”.

8/10 Will definitely play again after we’ve finished the other 50+ games on our to-read list.
