Choice of Rebels: Stormwright (XoR2 WIP)

Will there be an option to personally follow Kenon if you fail to introduce it to your rebellion as Int 2? It feels weird to be enamoured with it, fail to get your rebellion to follow it, and then immediately forget about it yourself. Might be too much writing, of course, so I’d understand if it was omitted!

Of course. You don’t want to phone it in, after all.

Is there any sense of “animal rights”, in the Hegemony? Or at least, extending compassion to all living things, not just humans (I’m talking doctrinally, not just basc empathy)?

They do exist though? Even one or two bonafide Ecclesiastes willing to sign on out the gate would be welcome. Speaking of them and the eventual game three, can you give us an outline of what Olynna content might look like then? I understand if its spoilers, but the years of wait are hard lol.

Yay! I can finally play a non-theurge helot without feeling like I’m robbing my MC.

I feel very dumb not noticing this :skull:

Question: Do the Seracca have centaurs? Or any other clear half-man half-beast hybrids of that nature, rather than a blend like M’kar?

For what the inner voice is, I think suneidésis would be what a Greek-speaker would use. This would actually be fairly translate-able in Greek proper (Συνειδησιακός-Συνειδησιακή-Συνειδησιακοί) but to an English speaking audience that can’t quite make the sounds of Greek this might not be quite as catchy.

“Syneidesis” is I think a better transliteration for English mouth-feel. Syneidiakoi for followers?

Syneidiakoi, followers of Syneidesis, or the Syneidetic Heresy

Something like that. Plus, the Diakons were the biggest early boosters of the heresy, so I like the echo.

Ironically enough knowing Gaesh isn’t that much like Dawkins makes me far more optimistic about him.

So hard work ahead to pull together a federal state composed of most of Shayard, Wiendrj and Nyral is ahead then, eh? That said there can and I think there should be more provinces in that new state than the current huge ones of the Hegemony.
I don’t call it the western option for nothing as it will involve the tradeoff of abandoning claims to Karagon, Erezza (which is going to lose me Cerlota, but as an INT focus character that loss should be survivable) and likely some parts of Shayard, like the Reach.

For me, there will only be the New Hegemony, and that part of Erezza that I’m turning into a blood pit for Halassur.

So much of the feedback on this thread is so good. Very fun to see the clever observations and suggestions people have on the newer chapters.

@Havenstone How exactly are the monasteries organised in the Hegemony? Are they segregated by gender, do different monastic rules exist (a la the irl rules of Antony/Benedict)?

And perhaps on the subject of Olynna, what is the usual sentence for a heretic who has recanted…

I think that you are too ambitious. How and why do you hope to keep Grand Shayard, which is a clogged toilet that every Shayardene nationalist is dieing to flush?

By compromising with Cabel and defeating the Laconniers. Grand Shayard is also not the most fertile part of Shayard if it doesn’t join up initially it can be waited out if we control most of the arable lands. But Grand Shayard itself ultimately isn’t that important, its port town of Osterport is.

As far as being too ambitious, given the fact that mc outright recreating a weaker and more shambolic version of the current Hegemony within most of its territories is likely to be possible, limiting to three of the five current provinces might be a bit more feasible.

Shayard alone does not have access to the northern ocean, equally importantly it does not have the same culture of skepticism as the Nyr and Wiendrj is vital as well, considering how many of the good soldiers come from there plus it has mountains and likely minerals and other resources even if they are not currently as easily mined as those in Erezza.

Territorial contiguity. It is better to be a territorially contiguous two ocean power than not. Plus Osterport is likely a really developed port and it is likely the closest such port to Sojourn which is why my mc absolutely wants it and having Osterport and Grand Shayard would make it much easier to hold and supply Sojourn too.

At present the famine will likely deplete it a bit and my mc would be more focused on further building up Osterport instead. But it is still nice to hold Grand Shayard too especially since it seems to be an important centre of Shayardene culture and will likely boost the legitimacy of anybody controlling it, even if it is likely to be(come) a bit less grand in the future.

Trigger my MC ranting about how Shayard is greater than every land like people are complaining about at the inn on first arrival to Irduin.

No argument there. My character isn’t an isolationist. The idea of settling for a state that doesn’t contain at a minimum the current archonty is just anathema to her.

That doesn’t explain why you want it (or Osterport) so much

Why wouldn’t you? It’s the second largest city in the Hegemony and certainly the closest urban center to the heart of the MCs (Choice of Rebels:) Uprising. It’s a choice prize for pretty much any MC.

He wants Osterport in particular so he can trade with the broader world and not have the disadvantages of being a landlocked state.

Who would they even trade with? Halassur, the Laconniers, and the religiously fundamental states are their sworn enemies, which would remove most prospective trade partners from the equasion. At that point, it would probably be better to focus on shattering Karagon and conquering Nyryal

Why would Halassur be the sworn enemy of IDLUN’s state?

At the moment they’re in the business of helping anyone in Shayard that could weaken the Hegemony.

I’m a little confused what you’re talking about here? The Lacconiers are a political faction within Shayard, not a country, and idek what you mean by the “religiously fundamental states”.

I am talking about the countries that will form in Hegemon (Game 6)

Idlun has mentioned that his MC hates Halassur. However, they also have said that their MC would be willing to do a detente with Halassur, so trade with Halassur is probably still acceptable
