Choice of Rebels Part 1 WIP thread

Thirded!

:smiling_imp:

For me is so easy 41 and 11 maces And in the sheep stuff and that 81 I think.

The check for the ‘staff’ part is “*if (helot) or (arms < 11)” - I guess there aren’t enough real weapons in the band for you to have one. (Though I must admit, you’d think the leader would be the first outfitted, at least if they know which side of a sword to hold…)

Have another update! My first complete draft of Chapter 3 is now finished – with a bit more Xaos, a bit more family drama – along with a very brief teaser for the decisions at the start of 4.

If I haven’t yet made a change you noted above in the thread, don’t worry, that will come later. But I wanted to get this out there for your feedback. Please feel free to critique anything and everything about the new bits; I’m very aware that I’ve not had time to polish them to my own contentment.

I’ll now be turning my attention to the long-promised re-tweak of Ch 2, which will shape how I launch into Ch 4. Maybe too early to talk about light at the end of the tunnel, but the train is at any rate moving faster again.

I didn’t find anything immediately new at start to middle area. I’m terrible, yes, I know. Wat hapen.

There isn’t anything new in the start to middle area. It all comes after the new stuff from last update (i.e. after you’ve dealt with Hector Keriatou one way or another). See what you reckon.

Noo, Horion! :frowning: Sure hope that’s just a false rumor. Or that it’s possible to avoid…

More reason to kidnap units to my cause, lmao, lmao

Jeesh. You’re right, Bagel. Looks like holding him hostage is better for everyone. He doesn’t end up dead, and you get to enjoy less anarchy, and better relations with the aristocrats and priesthood than if you let him go.

RiP Evil Gandhi rebellion. There is no way I could win this.
My stats.
Kuria Mara Jade
Anarchy: 5

Skeptical: 23% Devout: 77%
National: 45% Cosmopolitan: 55%
Charisma: 2
Combat: 0
Intellect: 1
Wealth: 59

Game didn’t tracking lies so my stats are reversed… Well Rebellion is dead there is no way I win this. So game over. Did charisma work? I couldn’t win any charisma check at all. My girl wants runaway knowing all is lost.

@Havenstone - little bug I found in the new bit, strangers2.txt line 7189 (or, arguably, 6776), dealing with the presence of everybody’s favorite jongler. If the outcome of the intro is appropriate, he returns if you have nationalism 75 or more, based on the earlier check, but in the later one for his departure again, it only checks for nationalism 71 or more. Hence, in the 71-74 range, he’ll leave without first arriving.

@poison_mara What happened? Where did you die?

No I didn’t die. It died everything I care about rebellion. I lost all stats checks , my father destroyed my aristocratic right … All destroyed except Breden. I dissolved the band. Game over My character turn in a Helot.

Okay. I’m…not really completely certain what you mean. I assume you’re talking about the new scene with the character’s father? What exactly is the problem?

I think she thinks that her father made her lose all her aristo rights?

Yes , he deshonored and quit my name so within my title and all right of nobility. Also I lost Zvad , half of my trusted men And gained stupid helots priests without intellectual knowledge or anything really. So I splitting the Helots and quit I suppose

I don’t know why you would take a half-mad father’s insults quite so seriously. He can’t in any meaningful sense strip the main character of nobility by decree. Even if he could, it seems like the only thing that points in that direction is ambiguous at worst, the “You’re no child of mine” line. The rest is just a flowery way to say “Damn you.”

He did the rites to destroy a nobility house. So there is no house. Also he called me demon and say since this moment you has no name , don’t call me father. Don’t forget this is a ancient style setting not modern. By ancient laws I am screwed.

Holding a funeral for someone still alive doesn’t mean that everyone will politely consider them to be dead. This is no less true for a noble house than it is for an individual. To put it fairly bluntly, you are interpreting this in entirely the wrong way. He is not stripping you of nobility; he is simply a sad and despairing (and a bit overdramatic) old man.

Hey I don’t think it’s been brought up yet but when breden is talking about olen stonehewers wake and where it’s going to be the first time it says Callow’s pool the second time it says Collow’s pool
Also how do I add a picture on mobile haven’t done so yet in my time with this forum and I have a screenshot

There really should be an easy to use icon on the post section or something because I checked out how to do it and it won’t let me paste it
