Hello folks – wanted to share some exciting real-life news. My wife and I just agreed to move our family to Nepal toward the end of this year. We both grew up there, and I’m quite excited at the prospect of the Havenpebbles getting the same opportunity.
Initially, we’ve got a four year job with an anti-poverty agency supporting village level disaster preparedness. We’ve also got one eye on the crazy idea of starting a trekking lodge in remote western Nepal… which might be the next thing we try in four years, if we decide that the business plan really does make sense.
What’s it all mean for XoR? Well, I’ll keep pushing at it in my spare time on my current job… but that continues to be crazy demanding (providing relief in Iraq isn’t getting any easier). Happily, when we move out to Nepal, the new job will be less energy- and time-consuming, and should allow considerably more side time for writing. Especially in the early months, when we have time set aside for language and cultural orientation. So this should be good news for the games, not just for my family!
