There’s only one where it requires your presence and that’s when you choose to raid the tax collectors but for the rest, no you aren’t required to go, however you can send anyone in your place like Zvad, Elery, Breden and Radmar. But you’d have to be careful on who to send on certain raids or recruiting missions. For example, Breden is great for recruiting the yeomen/helots and getting mules from yeomen and merchants while Zvad is great at raiding but he’ll usually lose some people but it’s not that bad compared to losing everyone in a single raid. But be careful using Breden because at the end when your band is discussing what plan to take when the army is coming after you, Breden will use his position among the people he/she recruited to screw you over in favor of going back to the helot camps if you choose to either fight back or retreat deeper into the woods. And Zvad will always leave if you choose to fight back, no matter what.
@Kattz is right–the Alastor raid is another that you can’t delegate to anyone else, at least not the first time. You can bring along Elery and Radmar, and they may save the day, even if you’re COM 0. But if either of them is not available, it’ll be a disaster.
Ooooh my bad, I was thinking of a different raid then. Sorry for the confusion.
Hi all! Terribly sorry if this was mentioned somewhere, my phone makes searching rather difficult… I’m running into an issue with my small rebellion run where my attempt to target the Architelone seems to get replaced by an attempt to raid the big temple that Suzane was a pilgrim at.
So I intentionally botch the rebellion initially so that I get thrown in prison to get a great start (aiming for a compassionate cosmopolitan rebellion that sucks up to the priests, aristocrats, merchants, yeoman and helots in descending order of priority though I try not to antagonize anyone and to support anyone where possible). I made Breden take charge of the small details because I didn’t have much time for playtesting after the mule business was introduced while I know most of the checks for the strategic options by heart. Or knew, anyway.
All is looking well aside from folks whining about a little starvation due to me not raiding anyone, and then the opportunity pops up to get my good aristo cousin to tell me about when the Architelone is coming. 7th week of the winter. When that rolls by, howver, there is no tax raid.
Instead, I get ambushed by folks asking me who I am assigning to the temple raid despite me having always rejected raiding temples beforehand as I do not want to annoy the Diakon I intend on touring around my group. There’s no way to decline the temple raiding.
I’m kinda worried about this because I really want to do a low-anarchy game as I just love Suzane while I find Kalt to be too edgy for me, and I also want to pull off the tax raid. I can get Suzane if I continue in this small group way but the tax raid just doesn’t happen, while if I go for being successful at the initial rising against Chirex I find that I get the tax raid done easily but wind up blowing over the anarchy limit because of I guess background raids being done by my subcommander or something.
Is there a way still to do the tax raid and get Suzane to join for either the bug or small group? Normally I wouldn’t pester people about that and try to figure it out myself, but I can’t access the code of the game anymore since that was taken down for the release.
I’ll look into that and fix it–thanks!
I’m curious, can you tell me how you raised Cosmopolitan to get Korszata? I’ve never encountered this character. I had high Cosmopolitan by the end of Chapter 2 (in the 70s), and I never saw the character. I had the soldiers speaking the common tongue, I talked about how all the lands would be freed when we all ate, and I chose certain options in the prologue with the bard. Maybe I was off by a few points.
I think the highest I’ve had mine was 75 and I still got Korszata. But yeah, every opportunity you have, always talk about freeing all lands under Karagond’s control, never think bad of the foreigners, encourage them to speak the common tongue but I think the choices you make in the prologue makes a difference as well. It’s been a while since I played it but I probably should go back soon to refresh my memory.
Thank you for responding back. For clarification, do you recall if Korszata appeared at the end of Chapter II? I’m just trying to figure out when the character is supposed to appear so I can try to trigger an appearance.
He shows up right after the winter ends if I remember correctly. Like I said, it’s been a while but I’m sure of it
Oh yeh … I had just purchased it yesterday and had just finish my first play through with great satisfaction , totally love it, every penny i paid is well worth it
This title fully gives us choices to build upon the personality of our main character as well as the nature of our rebellion…and it is such a epic world and character building game
I Role Play as a Noble with Charisma 2 and Intelligent 1 , I decided to Romance Breden and put her as my deputy with great effect and outcome
During the course of Winter, i survive it by only performing raiding twice, both on the Monastery … some may said that Breden is useless as a deputy as compare to Zvred, but i found that Breden and my own charisma had flourish throughout the game together, with Breden by my side , we manage to calm down all dreadful situation at ease and we manage to make everyone stay believe to our quest… basically me and Breden beg for money, mules and gold every week , Elery help spread our cause and bring back more people and the rest of the rebels went to hunt bears… we manage to survive until i get the mission of smuggling with the merchant , with the rewards from the merchant and 2 raids , we manage to hold till spring where we don’t need to worry about food anymore… Anarchy is only 3 and Simon join us unconditionally
and about Breden, towards the end chapter , i chose to marry her and got the achievement “Till Death do us part” and during the night of our marriage i got the “Kryptast” code from Breden , a code she hand to me in case i am captured … with that i can almost conclude that she is indeed a Kryptast but i trust it wasn’t her who poison our food, i think it was Joana …(who i believe is the hidden senior Kryptast who betray us) …Joana should be hiding with my family for a long time, Breden should be the a junior Kryptast who happen to meet and love me… Without the code, i won’t survive the attack, so i call out the code, which the enemy mistaken that i was a Kryptast instead and brought me to the captain, i manage to trick the captain into giving me the mighty Thaumatriach sword before i slay her with it… and then rescue Simon and the rest of survivors
In the end, i hand the mighty sword to Simon and let him lead the resistance force back home while i chose Breden to follow me to Xaos Land , she is my wife now…till death do us part
About the “betrayal” of Breden, i am actually looking forward for this story-arc… based on my personal knowledge, only 4 titles thus far had allow us to romance our enemy … Hero Rise 3(Prodigral) , Heart of the House(Oriana), Kingdoms:Ember in ashes (princess Sophia) and now Choice of Rebels ( Breden)…
Since these are all choice games, the choice for us to romance an enemy is always unique and intriguing , it may even bring out the best of a romance plot-line since it is testing dangerous water regarding how our main character hold Love within his/her heart against his/her ideology, believes, reputation, ambition and power…
So will our main character willing to face loathe and damnation by continue protecting and loving a traitor ? How far will our character go in an attempt to protect Breden? these are all interesting plot-line and i hope my character has choice to go all the way… even abandoning the initial rebellion cause ? well, if we can’t beat them , then join them right? Lol
such action had been done in movie like Matrix anyway, even a powerful messiah like Neo parley with the machine to face a common threat …
Hence , i don’t think scripting Breden as a traitor is a bad move… i am actually looking forward to it on how i can continue harbouring my wife
… I hope the author willing to write a better ending to Breden than Prodigral (Hero Rise )
Had finish my second play-through and i had found something interesting
Elery will survive the poison if you have INT of 1 and if you manage to lead everyone escape safely
this time, i am Noble with Charisma 2 and Intellect 1 again, but chose to Romance Suzanne instead…
the survival through the winter is mostly the same, but this time i didn’t raid or rob anyone at all so i end up with Anarchy 2
and Suzanne join me later on … somehow i manage to gain an alliance with Cousin Celea , since she kind of fond of me, i think maybe Celea is an Romance Option in part 2 ? Oh…and Celea ensure i receive no more attack from cousin Hector
this time i chose the option of Elery 's plan , that is to evade the enemy by retreating 3 steps ahead of them… Radmar and Breden tried to object but neither of them can match my influence …Lol . Zvred chose to leave my rebel by following Sybla, so i had to let him go
Before the flight, i confess my love to Suzanne which she accept … i hope there will be option for me to marry her as well in part 2
During the escape , i didn’t chose to split the enemy’s loyalty , i chose to start counter attack immediately by applying half of my force, and then i chose to burn the enemy supply wagon…
In the cave, someone poison us but i chose to trust Breden , the scheme was too obvious , someone tried to blame Breden… my prime suspect is still Joana, Joana was the one who distribute to food, according to breden…
Now the scene state that i tried my best to heal everyone with my knowledge , hence i believe INT 1 is sufficient … but i still need to survive the Plektoi (hounds ) , i believe it was due to my proclamation as Angel Eclet that allow me to motivate the devotion of my followers, in which all of them listen to my plea and charge to those Plektoi with devote conviction , we managed to kill 3 plektoi … but Alira play a big role by standing by side to shoot all of them , i feel touch when she said she will at least make the plektoi scream in pain in order to alert me, should we meet with anymore plektoi
In the end, i receive the achievement “Ghost in the wood” by escaping the enemy , but most importantly was that Elery survived … so i assume in order for her to survive, minimum INT is 1 and i must lead them to safety…in my first play-through, i was captured but i activate the "Kryptast " code and manage to obtain the Thaumatriach Magic sword… but Elery died
Hence , i suppose if we want the sword, Elery won’t survive…
In the end, i chose Alira to be the new leader, because Elery was still sick and not given the option… , then Suzanne unbuckle her family sword and follow me to the Xaos land unconditionally
Celea at least I don’t think will be a romance option for book two however Havenstone has mentioned there will be a couple more new romance options when he starts writing book 2. But you can choose to have feelings for Celea’s brother, Hector, wasn’t it?
Yes… there is option where we can choose to have feeling for Hector… however i notice that after Celea brought us the information about the enemy’s strength before the final attack , there was option on how we feel about her, option one was to feel gratitude and fondness… which i assume was a possibility for future romance option ?
and well, the way Celea risk herself on multiple times for our main character. with the fact that she trust us above all sanity actions ( our main character even had the option to kill or kidnap her)… show that Celea’s “fondness” towards our main character had reach the level of Suzane , more ever Celea already kept her bargain on restraining Hector from further attacking us (which was no easy task nonetheless), why she even risk herself further more by delivering the enemy’s strength personally on the eve of attack ? She couldn’t have so much faith on me to escape the hunt , and what if i was captured , i could had signal her out as well, especially with her hand-written information on a piece of paper… Celea had been given the impression as a heartless, selfish and scheming noblewoman , but the risks she took had redefine her character… That’s the reason why i think Celea “could” be a potential Romance option , at least a future ally.
But anyway, i already save my best Two Romance Options in separate files… One is with Breden and the other is Suzane, so i will have difficult time on deciding which file to continue first…Lol
The Romance Option with Breden seems most intriguing , as romancing with a supposed enemy always bring out Epic Love/Tragic story , especially she is a “Kryptast” or assassin-spy … i believe after Breden had given me her kryptast code , there should be no ambiguity regarding who she was… However i still think she was not the one who poison us, why did such thing when she was on the top list of suspect ? Someone , another Kryptast had recognise Breden as one of their own, and was setting her up for the fall … i know someone said when Breden was not around, the poison scene won’t happen, that’s because if Breden was not around, the other Kryptast couldn’t set her up for the fall… I suspect Joana is the other Kryptast , as a long serving member of my family, she most likely detect i ran away for the secret meeting in the first place… and don’t forget Breden said her master gave her the code, who was this “master” of hers ?
As for Suzane , i can’t help to feel the Romance story with her is going to resemble the “Courtly Love” of the Arthurian Legend, where true lovers became faint or sick with the strength of their love; sleeplessness, lack of appetite and depression were all symptoms of true love. A lover was expected to have fine manners and display perfect gentility… That’s exactly what was display by Suzane in the first Romance Scene with me, She lost her appetite and was in depress due to her love for me and she beems after i confess my feeling for her, however Suzane expect our love to be progress in an honourable courtly manner … which is intriguing as well, none of the novels that i had read until now(whether digital or hard cover) manage to develop a romance story based on the fable “Courtly Love” , i assume @Havenstone had purposely introduce Suzane as a romance interest to be develop in a “Courtly Love” manner , this had shown how the author took time in researching the different manners of a romance story and really dedicated in the work…
Well Havenstone has mentioned at least 3 new romance options and I know for sure one of them will be that Theurge that Horian spoke of if you had enough intelligence or charisma but I can’t remember the rest. I’m sure he mentioned them somewhere in this thread or that other one.
The Noblewoman who was friend of the Pan right? She escape before the Pan was killed along with his household … it is logic that she will be one of Romance Option since we are given choice to find her…
at the end of Book 1, i suppose our adventure in Book 2 will be concentrate around Xaos land, so another RO could be from one of the 100 Xaos people living there …
The last one will be hard to guess …since i don’t think we will reunite with other Rebels so soon, it couldn’t be from one of our own council of leaders …Lol
Horian is the noble who told us about the rebel theurge that fled to the Xaos-Land after you capture or ask him to come to your camp sometime during Chapter 3, I believe but Horian is usually male in my walkthroughs @Havenstone will you be able to confirm that our MC will meet the Theurge Chirex again? I think the interaction between Chirex and our MC after we established our rebellion to be a legitimate cause, it would be interesting to see their reaction towards it.
Yeah i met Horian , but he and the priest who proclaimed me as Angels Eclect were killed by someone on the road after i set them free…
There was someone else, a woman , i forgot her name… whose the chieftain we met in the end said survive the attack on the Pan , that’s the rebel Theurge right ?
Yes. Cerlota, the rebel theurge, who we’re going to go meet soon.
Thanks a lot…haha, some of the names are difficult to remember
I still can’t remember the actual name of that Magical sword i obtain in my first play-through, apparently it can cut through anything it slash … a powerful weapon, but we can’t carry it to the Xaos, more ever my combat skill is 0, hence not much use for me anyway…
That northern Whenward we meet in the ending is not the rebel Theurge. It clearly says so in the ending that they’re two different people. If I misunderstood your question then I apologize for it.
