Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

Okay this whole talk about Saint made me muse again about the forced hug scene…and @Rohie I noticed something that bugs me a little bit: It’s either being not okay with him hugging MC and showing it either strongly or subtl, or being okay with being huged and reciprocate the gesture.

And I wonder if it’s possible to have a choice to react not with (varying degrees of) repulsion or absolute enthusiasm, but with confusion? After all it’s rather unexpected, MC knows Saint for only four days or something and most of the time they were unconscious, so it may be a nice suprise, but eventually not one they would be ready to reciprocate with so much enthusiasm.
It’s really not something one would expect from someone they know for such a short amount of time even when not feeling strongly opposed to a hug .

And especially a shyer/social awkward person maybe wouldn’t know how exactly they should react to that besides some hesitant half-hug pats on the shoulder or something.

I don’t know maybe I’m just weird and the only one who thinks so, but it bugs me…Am I the only one who would wish for such an option?

Like something similar to where one person hugs another person, and then the second person just stands there as stiff as a board for a few seconds before awkwardly reaching their hands around the other persons back, too awkward to even lean forward?

Saint would probably give you a bit of distance if you did that; the other two extremes seem more likely to keep him around.

My mental canon is I give him a good slapping in his stalker face… THAT’S NOT A HUG IS A GROPING GUY… But i see your point. Go groping daddy Zeus would certain agree. Also Did Saint receive Viagra like us?

Maybe not that extreme, but in the gist? Yes, that is what I want.

I don’t really care about how Saint reacts to it, it just bugs me that we have the option react strongly or slightly negative to the hug, but that we only get a strong positive option.
I just would wish for a somewhat toned down option as alternative to directly hugging him back and being overjoyed by seeing such a “familiar face”.

@Sammysam

So…if I read that right, instead of the middle option just being the one where the Bearer lets him keep his arm on but throws him a wary glance, you want there to be an option where the Bearer cautiously returns the gesture, which still can be seen as a wary action yet feels more like the Bearer is carefully open to the idea of getting along with him?

Like how the Bearer with Calypso has five different responses that range in acceptance (or rejection) when she tries to start over with the Bearer and apologizes for going too far?

Whenever I think of a shy character, that’s what my mind leaps to; usually because it’s the default course of action for when shy people are hugged in real life.

But yours would probably be pretty realistic. More of an “you’re literally the only person here that I’ve seen before, so I’m going to go against my better judgement and trust you. But I’ll be keeping several eyes on you anyway” type deal.

Maybe from Saint’s pov but from the intention out of MC’s pov I would prefer just a toned down reaction because of a reserved personality and suprise in contrast to:

Throw my own arm around him, laughing, and walk toward the chariot. It’s nice to see a familiar face.

That’s just not a way I can imagine my MC to react (Hell that way even I react only to people I know for at least one year or more) and also not:

Let him keep his position, but throw him a wary glance.

Because she is more suprised by being hugged not scared or even wary. It’s really a more a:
“I don’t really know you and this is absolutely not what I expected and not my way to communicate with people (and I’m also not sure if I can trust you), so please understand that I don’t jump you from excitement, but hey, I try my best.”

I don’t even want five different options, but the “neutral” option just doesn’t feel really neutral for me, because it also communicates a strong enough aversion against Saint and his actions. It feels more like the toned down “throw his arms off” option, because it already feels like the intention of the wary glance is to bring him to back off.

Nah, Saint has his own weapon of expertise (his lightning bolt), so he probably got no weirdo present from his father…that’s for MC only… I don’t know if you should feel honored.

@Sammysam

So maybe two of the original options (pure rejection and pure acceptance) and two neutral options as well, one that leans toward the negative and the other positive? Or just rewording the more positive response to Saint’s greeting?

Yes! Exactly that! After all the other options seem to be things some peole would and did choose (even the positive one can work fine while playing a very extroverted MC), so it seems unfair to take that from them.

But there is not real rejection option in Spain the typical rejection option is in Spanish HIJO DE LA GRAN PUTA VE A SOBAR A TU MADRE SI TAN DESESPERADO ESTAS… CON UNA ENFERMA…TIENES SUERTE QUE NO TENGA UN ARMA Que SI NO TE COLGARIA DE TUS TRIPAS SOBRE EL CARRO PARA QUE TUS RESTOS CAYESEN SOBRE EL MAL NACIDO QUE TE CRIO… of course a kick in his impotent jewellery or a slapping is recommended… This options are so polite so soo BRITISH … I WANT RESPOND AS A LATINO… HE WOULD SEE

Honestly, while the “international stereotype British” response would probably be @Sammysam’s (i.e. polite but very restrained), the real British response would be “You startin’ on me, mate?” followed by a headbutt (note that this could be either positive or negative, depending on the tone).

I would argue that the option I want is not “polite, but very restrained” but rather hella awkward.

What have I missed?

Also this is some extreme irony if the maker of the universe needed that. Even immortals have those problems it seems.

Oh, it’s just that those that got Zeus as father get as weapon a blue pill.

No idea what it does, not even if it’s the MC that should take it, or the enemy or if it’s just a container for the real weapon, but it’s a gift from Zeus…what is not reassuring in any way.

Not only a blue pill a blue pill with the shape of Viagra!!! AND IS FROM I BANGING ALL I SEE ZEUS … poor guy just too old too rock

Wonder if this entire set-up has all been an illusion. The maker of the universe could actually mean the programmer who helped develop this scenario except now they can’t escape. And the blue pill is a failsafe the programmer implemented should they get locked in.

Boom mystery solved! You’re actually in a matrix/VR choice of games prototype. Oh and your “other half” Is actually another coder/programmer.

…I’m pretty sure the shape of viagra pills is the same as most pills…

Sounds like a good fanfiction au idea for this game, but in that case the only one ascending to epiphany are Zeus children, what would be kinda unfair.

Who’s to say the pill doesn’t begin appearing in other places as the game progresses? What if this is simply the easiest route to get the pill?

I know your plan @Rohie, deny it all you like. I’ve seen through the illusion.

…And I thought some of the theories I plant are epileptic trees…but you just won the cake…It may or may not be a lie though…:cake:

The others have weapons. And no Viagra pills are like diamond shaped i know it because i studied a case about fake ones made in India and the infringement of copyright
