Such dilemma

Odd, I tested the second surrender option which doesn’t really change anything from the first and you don’t get any back runes even though you still got cuffed and collared and even knocked out.

Ok, tried again the same option. But seems if you choose to tell them they’ve signed their own death warrants instead of just glaring as they cuff you, you get the runes. So it comes down to if you speak when they cuff you? Odd.

Given the situation, was it really a matter of ambition to choose the bear, or was it a matter of safety? The chances of sneaking past a sleeping bear are worse than those of killing one. The moose at that point was not a threat, it wasn’t going to come past the bear to get to you. The bear, however, could have awoken at any time even if you did not make a noise; it was an immanent threat. Trying to attack the moose instead would be twice as foolish as trying to take out the bear. And you were in a cave. After killing the bear you’d have a perfectly safe place to wait for the moose to go away.

I don’t think that the deer would be seen by any as acceptable. Whatever your mother’s intentions, it would have opened you to ridicule, given the tenor of the opinions of your house by the P-Nobles and the philosophy of strength of the D-Nobles. And it would likely anger your father and grandfather as well. It would be as bad as having you show up with a rabbit.

The deer was never an option, though.

Not a real one, no. But Cryzhentia definitely has a point about it (possibly) representing complacency. You have the character/stat? choice to be fine with it or to want to look for something more appropriate, which indicates that the PC knows better* than to go along with whatever the mother is doing or trying to do.

*I kind of wish there was some sort of text about what happens in that part having the feel of ancestral disapproval. And the option to have a slightly superstitious PC.

Ok, after further testing, the back runes appearing isn’t effected by surrendering. It’s effected by whether you choose to warn that they’ve condemned themself to death vs keeping quiet and in control. If you choose the former, you get the runes. Keep quiet and in control while they cuff you, and no runes.

Thus it’s not the act of wearing the enslavement cuffs that inflict the runes. It must be something additional added after they knocked us out, but only if you warn a fourth time that Eleazor will kill them all.

Now I’m really curious about what they do/are for. You’ll have to tell us (because I’m not going to stop killing their soldiers, cowing the village, learning about the cuffs ahead of the Duke and withholding that information in order to see how much he’ll actually tell me.)

…And MC should already know by the example of that noble’s son that all sorts of unaccounted runes on the body do not lead to anything good.

Exactly. We should be going straight to our father about those mystery runes.

You guys are underestimating Moose lol, They might be from deer family but they one of the largest of them
Many adult Moose can grow larger than a bear lots of times XD
Even in a fight bears don’t have much to do against those large antlers and Moose can easily eat up 4 or 5 claw swipes as well

I choose bear still btw, there is just some primal feeling of hunting a carnivores animal who doesn’t even waits to kill you before it starts eating

Well it is an option you’re not gonna be ridiculed for hunting a deer you just being regarded as normal, there won’t be any scar.

Either way this is how author say that choice have consequences be it short or long term.

Well if it’s false choice I didn’t pick to hunt deer I pick to hunt bear.

Wait, are we talking the deer at the start or the moose later on? Regardless, you still have to kill the bear.

The deer at the start is interrupted by the ghoul, so it was never a real option. And if you try to go for the moose, the bear still attacks. So again, a false option. And you still get a scar, just either the face or shoulder.

I was not counting the deer and the moose as the same thing. The scene with the deer is one scene, then there is the attack by the ghoul (scene two) and the escape (scene three) and the crevasse/fall (scene four) and then you see the bear and the moose (scene five.) I don’t think anyone is actually mistaking a small doe for a moose.

Yes. Which is why, as I said, the moose will not be coming into the cave after you and is not an immediate danger to you like the bear (which is already in the cave) is. You can kill the bear and wait the moose out. At no point do you have to engage with the moose.

Overall I feel this update is great, it have some revelation about the past and somewhat also going on into present with the closure of village rebellion now into faerie court we go.

I once had a fight with someone because I thought giving up was a stupid idea, and look what it is now.

I also included ideas about MC being controlled, like those runes, I kept telling them this was high fantasy where there was magic and runes.

Note: it happened when the demonstration stopped when meeting the rebels.

Giving up just no go, given the circumstances because there is King visiting Daria getting captured will be a scandal, I am happy though there is selective killing, but seriously this rebel is just suicidal and dumb MC give them a chance to surrender and go home but they don’t listen, asking Father to come knowing there wont be anyone left if Father come.

I also find this :

  • There are 7 competitors, five men, and three women, all representing some house, knights and only two being heirs of noble houses, the son of Lord Marin included.

till next time.

I think the author is fleshing out MCs past in the prologue including the characters around em, I personally love the new direction and can wait until the prologue ends to get back to the previous stuff

Maybe wait a few updates before the new rewrite catches up to the already defined plot of the main story i guess
