Autumn Winds - A Pride and Prejudice adaptation (81K Words)

Like a flashback to MC older sister wedding i recall about how opulent it was mentioned by Caroline.

Felt like another replay recently, and I noticed something. I guess I’m not looking too closely at that part anymore since I’m pretty set on my preferred MC name. Anyway, I saw “William” is an option for both Aristocratic and Gentry first names. That’s probably not intentional, so I thought I should mention it.

Also, out of curiosity, I tried a “reject Mrs. Bennet” option, and that was fun. Even sticking to the kind or humble options (because I won’t offend Lizzy), their disappointment is palpable. So good for you, ha ha. For fun, I looked at the “less polite” options too, but only in code (I don’t want to offend Jane too, actually  ). I like that their reactions are still subtle enough to maintain decorum, while showing differences between the sisters. I don’t know how much of it also comes from being familiar with these characters, but it works for me.

By the way, if it’s not a spoiler, would it make a difference later whether or not the MC dances with the Bennets/Charlotte, or is it more of a first impressions thing? Like how Bingley eagerly dances throughout the night while Darcy chooses to sulk in the proverbial corner.

And I’m assuming that was the only chance to agree to a dance or not, with how public that display was, even if MC just didn’t want to agree right away. I mean, it was very bold of Mrs. Bennet/Sir William. MC hasn’t even met the girls yet when they asked.

Thanks for mentioning the thing with William as a name. I didn’t even realize when I wrote it that I had already used it before.

I’m glad you liked the different reactions. I put an effort into making the interactions with Mrs. Bennet memorable, as I think she’s an iconic character and I wanted to vary her reactions based on the personality of the response.

Dancing will make a difference in the dialogue, whether you reject her request, but then she marvels at you since you danced with one of her daughters making her happy, or in another case that you do not dance all night and she is outraged and speaks ill of you for not granting her daughters a dance or that you do not dance with any but with other ladies etc. Everything is saved in variables that will be used in chapter 2 to establish the relationships and attitude of the different characters with the mc. Past events also influence, for example, when Elizabeth notices if the MC is happy, angry, bored, feels superior when entering the assembly, all of this will be used for conversations, either to criticize the MC, confront him or praise him, all this together with the skills that he dances or plays instruments so well, hunts with Mr. Bennet, etc.

Heh, no, the MC could approach them and ask the ladies to dance despite his initial rejection. Like Darcy with Elizabeth at Netherfield.

The Holy Roman Empire long disbanded since 1811 while game setting takes place exactly at the year 1811 though i think that’s a plot hole

There seems to be a small misunderstanding. English is not my native language, and in some parts I worry if I am making myself understood. My dialogue does not say “since,” it says “By,” “It’s as if he’s in the presence of the Holy Roman Emperor, long disbanded by 1811.” I’m not saying that the Empire was dissolved in 1811; I’m saying that it had already been dissolved for some time by the year 1811. About five years since Napoleon forced its dissolution.

Yes, that’s correct. “By” (and not “since”), as you have it written, is the correct word to use here.

I have to say, though, I’ve noticed quite a few instances of switching tenses (e.g. second-person to first-person, and vice versa) in the same POV. I can’t give examples right now, but I thought I’d mention it.

Good luck with your writing!

super excited to see the demo update, cannot wait to get to dance with my girls, literally so excited

especially can’t wait for lizzie to realize how accurate she was here on Marquess MC route: “With a touch more fancy, they’ll next proclaim that one of Bingley’s guests is a Marquess!” You and Charlotte exchanged soft, conspiratorial giggles."

here are some of my bits and bops that i would add/change that you can fully ignore if it would be too much work for you, hahah:

so far i just wanna say i love the current customization, i think it covers just enough bases to be inclusive while also keeping things pretty simple for coding purposes, I would love if instead of more customization, we’d get some flashbacks… you could combine it and perhaps make one or two of the flashbacks relating to MCs memories with Bingley and/or Darcy…

it would be sweet if there was a difference between the first letter address pertaining to how close MC is to Bingley… perhaps for Marquess it could be “My dear (Surname)” and for Gentry it could be “My dear friend (Surname)” being a subtle hint at how much closer Bingley would be to Gentry origin MC

it is just a teensy bit jarring to have both our friends hairstyles be referred to as “arranged à la Brutus / fashioned à la Titus” but having no such styling comment for ourselves

+super excited to see which way you will take the intended special easter egg route for the Gentry origin now that we have the specified difference between the Celtic, Anglo-Saxon and Norman origins

I’m glad you’re looking forward to the dance with excitement. I’m working on making it quite responsive mechanically speaking. I plan to add flashbacks and some more customization options. The Bingley letter is a good point. The most recent change in that route is that Bingley only mentions the MC’s first name in private or safe spaces, and only their last name in the Marquis route. Some spoilers for that Gentry easter egg route would be Griffins, money, and the hills of Bowland. In the normal route, it would be the sea. As for the MC’s hairstyles, I hadn’t thought about it. I was happy with the initial options, and since no one had said anything, I let it pass. That said, adding the hairstyle issue would mean reviewing several paragraphs and modifying them.

Thanks for the suggestions! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

So when Collins comes to visit the Bennetts will Mrs Bennett shut him down when he tried to ask for Lizzie hand in marriage while she is being courted by MC and especially the dragon mc and if you cannot answer my question say it’s a spoiler

How do you get to choose the dragon in your banner?

By choosing a cultic surname and choosing a dragon

Spoiler. I want to save Collins’ events and alterations for the demo, as well as Wickham’s.

Even if the MC isn’t interested in Elizabeth, Collins will suck up to him so hard that (x10 if MC is also a Marquess) even the most prideful MC will reconsider the aura farming (if that’s what it attracts).
