Autumn Winds - A Pride and Prejudice adaptation (81K Words)

It would be nice if some sort of estate management (like developing our marquessate) can be implemented so the financial stats can become relevant. Personally, I’m more interested in interacting with world and having it reflect narratively than to focus on the romance. This could become the best “estate manager/noble simulator”

While I do see what you mean, and yeah a little bit of estate management would make this realistic, and I am romance buff also don’t mind a little estate management, I do wanna say this is an adaptation of a romance novel, so I think the romance is the focus of this IF rather than “estate manager/noble simulator”, there are many estate managers with “male mcs or gender selectable, but this really reads as intended for male mc” but a lot fewer romance focused IFs with male protagonist

I agree with you, I don’t want the “romance” element to be removed as it’s core or anything. What I initially meant was that there should be an estate management feature as a minor part of the entire story, maybe only mentioned when we return to our manor, and the choices we made, only referenced briefly in conversations with others. In the end, when the epilogue happens, author can show the consequences of our choices and how they proceeded. This would also make the financial stats seem meaningful.

I agree, being too ambitious might make the WIP’s future bleak and thats why it doesn’t even have to be a seperate path (which would have been fantastic though) but just a minor side thing that only shows up again in the epilogue.

yeah ok I agree, I think it would work if it was few choices randomly the same way as like inventing the modern pen choice we have in the current demo but regarding the estate or further investments, I dont think it would need to be anything more complicated since this is mainly romance focused IF

I think just adding a bunch of options to construct structures/buildings would be enough and then financial stats + intellect can come in play, not the entire managing system. It could be something like setting up a factory costs ??? but paired with high intelligence stats can reduce the overall expenses.

Just a few options for managing and industrializing properties sounds more feasible and manageable than having to create an entire system with gosub to manage money, days, etc. It’s something I had already thought about but hadn’t actually implemented, since Meryton is still a farming town and the game isn’t at the point of worrying about economic and political issues yet; that will be a secondary focus in future chapters. I also mentioned some time ago that this was a secondary project, since my main one is something else, so I don’t want to complicate this too much.

Oh yes, I regularly back up the files in my private demo at cog, and on other storage media.

I hope to see a demo of your main project soon, could you perhaps summarise what it would be about? I know its premise is set in medieval period but would it be similar to “war for the west” or “lords of aswick”? Or would it be a linear, romance focused story as well?

Yes, it’s like those two but with fantasy, so to speak. The MC is a prince from a kingdom that is being ravaged by other kingdoms and a conquering empire to the east.

It takes from LotR with the Third Age, and a more mundane world in which the great empires, wizards, and divine weapons remain as legends of the past, and now all that matters is survival.

The key and important point that highlights it, so to speak, is the idea that the player chooses between three routes—the normal one, the mage one, and the Visastrion one—and how each of them defines the world in a completely different way, either elevating or completely nullifying the classic level of magic and fantasy in the world of Avarnna.

Given the fascinating description of your main medieval fantasy project and your high quality writing style I’m very excited for the main project!

Even though I am not the greatest Pride and Prejudice(or like much the SXIX century) fan who can say no to its cast? From Bingley to Darcy to Sir William Lucas himself what a madlad his wig is legendary. Also really loved the deep personalisation we have going on for this one from the Mc’s skills, to our personality and not to mention our own houses background, the last one I believe I’ve only seen in War for the West and is a fairly different novel to say the least.

The Celtic background if a little bonkers damn if it wasn’t exciting, beating Athlestan himself what a house of legends, the dragons of the east indeed, I do hope we get more mentions of such past in the story specially mentions of ancestors, artifacts or in general what is not covered, honestly the house background selection alone is so amazing that this game deserves to be played for it. Looking forward to more updates!

I’m glad you liked the demo, and Sir William’s wig.

Despite being an adaptation of P&P, my history-loving, map-painting side couldn’t resist giving an epic background to a British aristocratic dynasty such as that of the MC.

The appearance of the MC’s house will be influenced by the different backgrounds and therefore certain family relics, and all this will be properly mentioned in the future.

Okay, so it’s been a month since I posted my last update, and I wanted to give an update on how the project is progressing. Basically, I’ve been writing as I can, coming up with a plan and its execution for the dance, which is based on a time system. I wanted to clarify that I haven’t abandoned Autumn Winds and I’m still openly writing. My current version has about 75k words. Now, the problem, or the not-so-good part, is that I’m not even 50% of the way through what I have planned to write. I haven’t even started writing the dances themselves, the sets, because I’m still writing the actions before the first set with their variations and micro-choices, so to speak. But I felt I had to update, and let you all know about this. I hope you’re all looking forward to the dance, and I wish you a nice afternoon.

Thanks, you can make it in your own time, but updates like this help!

A wonderful idea to have someone make a gameplay version of the classic pride and prejudice! I adore the book. Question though– will there only be 4 romancable options or is it possible for us to make requests ? I would very much love to romance Charlotte. (If that doesn’t stress out your schedule, of course–)

I’ve asked you guys who you’d want to play your MC. But now I wanted to ask who would you guys want to direct your version of Pride and Prejudice? It could be any director. Personally I would want either Stanley Kubrick ( for his Barry Lyndon) or Joe Wright ( for his Anna Karenina) or maybe even Andrew Dominik ( for his The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) just for their visuals and story telling.

Give me Michael Bay’s Pride and Prejudice.

C’mon, you can’t tell me you don’t want to watch that.
