Ashenmaw - Dragons of Marrowoods (WIP) (Dragon Fantasy) (Minor Bugfix 01/08/26 77k total, 32k per read)

I’d say no. I mean, it’s only 1-2 days and he IS currently in panic mode (albeit he made ‘plans’.)

I just had an idea:

the festivities would require Phyron to be in his mortal guise, and I was thinking if right now he’d have one that is all no-nonsense sourpuss buzzcut etc… and only when he actually warms up to the whelp and all does he change it to the tiddies-soft himbo one much better representing him. (There is no better way to describe it, ok?)

For me, i think Madalumi. Teialumi is a close second.

He’s just going to embarrass himself again if it’s the black MC. This probably more for the other flight MCs to experience this. I don’t think the elder dragons are gonna appreciate someone ruining the festivities.

Yep. I think if it’s the black whelp, Phyron will just growl, grouse and glower. Also if it’s the black whelp he’ll probably have a visible bandage somewhere, maybe an arm in a sling if this doesn’t interfere too much with the writing.

Okay, finishing up the update to the museum part with the gods, and I gotta give y’all a heads up:

With that new version, you have to still go through all 13 Gods (upon the first full playthrough at least) but now you get to choose the order.

Which means I will need you people to really help me with the testing here, because:

  • there’ 13 gods
  • the last two will always be explained to the whelp by kassias
  • the dialogue on the individual entries changes depending on if you have looked at fewer or more than 5 gods already
  • if you’ve looked at five exactly it will trigger Sarimyne leaving to check if kassias is coming
  • the dialogue also changes depending on what gods you’ve already looked at

meaning there is a ton of possible combinations and I want to be certain they all play out correctly. Dx

Was just thinking about if any of the Gods would be romanceable and… is Arsinoe a God in disguise as a Dragon? Would explain why so much of her info is redacted.

Heh. Good think but she is not. Just everything that could be said would be a major spoiler

Also, to give you all an idea what the average section for each god looks like after the overhaul:

Summary

The statue gives you pause.

The craftsmanship on all the statues in the room already struck you impressive, but what now rises before you is simply stunning up close.

Zojaabra is depicted as a woman in a long flowing robe and veil, sitting with a small loom in her lap. The way the marble has been worked her veil not only looks like fine fabric, but there's what looks to be little stars in both the veil and her hair. Filigree threads seem to flow from a spindle by her bare feet to her fingers and the loom.

"A masterpiece, isn't it?" Padamonos comments. "It's hard to believe the only magic at work here are spells to protect people from breaking anything."

You look at him quite surprised.

"This was not done with magic? But the veil looks so thin and..."

"The artist was truly one of Nimeyope's chosen ones,"
*if (gods_picked <=5)
Sarimyne adds. "The world hasn't seen anyone like him in hundreds of years."

You stare up at the statue for a little longer.

"She's very pretty," you comment, finally.

  "Very pretty."

 *if (god_nim =false)
  "Umm, who is Nimeyope?"

"That would be the deity over there," Sarimyne notes and points at a statue closer to the entrance. "They're the deity of Art. But we ought to explain that later in detail."

You nod in agreement and look back up at Zojaabra.

  "Very pretty."

"She is," Sarimyne continues. "Zojaabra is one of the oldest of the Ethernals. Her domain are the stars and night itself, as well as sleep and dreams."

@{(flight =4) "Yer|"The blue} flight takes its names from her," Padamonos

"Me love, could ye see if our hosts are on their way? See how much time we got to do some more storytelling."

Sarimyne nods curtly, takes a step to the side and vanishes in a slight swirl of sand.

Padamonos, meanwhile, claps his hands. "Now, let's make good use of the time we got."

  You arch a brow.

"You're not going to steal anything, right?"

Padamonos blows a raspberry, waving you off.

"Pishposh. Unless ye'd like to? No. Ah well. I mean I couldn't anyway. There's a spell that keeps me from traversing the museum without permission or dedicated company, like dear Sari. So, no, if I'd try to leave this hall, I'd find meself thrown back, quite painfully, to me room." Absentmindedly he rubs his rear. "Let's maybe not do that."

  "Oh."

"Yes. Well then, where were we?"

"The blue flight takes their names from Zojaabra?"

"Ah, yes. That." Padamonos roll his shoulders.
"As the Goddess of dreams she's also a protector of the Veil between the various worlds. @{(flight =2) As a green dragon ye oughta know 'bout| Green dragons got their connection to} the Dewlight Wilds. That is one o' many realms connected to Zojaabra's realm of

You raise your head in the slightest bit surprise at hearing Kassias actually refer to you as 'his' child. You hadn't gotten the impression he actually sees you as that prior. Then again, you are not too certain it wasn't meant in a 'my property' sense.

 Padamonos looks around, curiously.

End of Month Status Updates

Hello little whelps, café-heroes, scallywags and outlaws, quick status updates for stuff:

Ashenmaw:

Almost done rewriting the museum part, very much multiplying the word count be 4 or 5 in that section. I will really, really need y’all to try and break the game at that section to see if everything there works as intended.

Also started working on ch3 already, at least in terms of the scenes for meeting the other ROs.

Ballad of Devil’s Creek:

Been going through the code and fixing some grammar, wrote a bit on the next chapter. Over on Patreon Charlie is winning the poll for the character portrait, so supporters on pat and kofi will get that little extra hopefully before the end of the year.

Curious Cuisine:

Almost done rewriting the prologue and moving it back to ChoiceScript. So… next year we’ll be back, prolly?

Beggar’s Luck:

Working on it, but the prologue is mostly done. So, another thing for next year.

~+~

IRL stuff:

Computer funds are at around 500 bucks now, so about a 1/5 of the goal (again, this is for computer, desk, chair, all of that). Thank you everyone who has chipped in so far. The art stream will still happen as soon as I got the comp and everything set up proper and securely.

Health is still messy and a lot of other furniture and appliances are still broken, but I make do with what I got :3

Okay, looking at the overhauled museum part (hopefully I’ll have it ready tomorrow), please, and I am saying this in all honesty and seriousness, please DO PREPARE A SPREADSHEET for testing.

Edit: I mean it.

Every God now has 3-4 different versions of text, depending on if you looked at fewer, more or exactly 5 Gods already, there’ll be a difference if you looked at 11 gods, as the last two will always be introduced by kassias, and Aethedus and Heleia, and Eastia, Malevhorn and Heleia will have different text depending on whether or not you’ve already looked at the respective others. (in the latter case, Eastria and Malevhorn have slightly different text if you’ve already looked at either, Heleia has different text if you have looked at either Eastria or Malevhorn already or both)

There are 13 Gods total

Good gods if you’re putting this much work into this one section of the game, then given how amazing the writing for the current demo is I can’t wait to see what the rest of the story is like! Seriously invested in the story already, and eagerly waiting for more of it

An every single one of those gods can go jump of a certain cliff for all the so called good they have done in the world lol

Looking forward to seeing how things have progressed since I last played.

To be fair, the Gods had no hand in Ashenmaw’s release.

Thank you, I’m trying my best.

That said, as for the testing, if my math isn’t off there’ll be 136 (?) variations of going through the museum. not counting flavortext for which flight you’re of, and what your relationship with Vaelias is.
