Ashenmaw - Dragons of Marrowoods (WIP) (Dragon Fantasy) (Minor Bugfix 01/08/26 77k total, 32k per read)

Abracadabri. :joy: That’s actually kinda cute in a funny way. Imagine Acazabri feeling frustrated every time MC mispronounces his name, especially if the MC is his sibling.

My cynical behind wants to do something similar to Kassias, especially playing as a red flight dragon. Kassias doesn’t like the MC even if they’re his own child. The feeling is mutual.

My MC: “Yeah, whatever you say, Cashews.”

Kassias narrows his eyes. “The name is Kassias.”

My MC: “Whatever, Cactus.”

I mean, Phyron likely will…

Wait. Phyron? Are you saying he gets to be the MC’s older brother if we play as a black flight dragon? Knowing your older brother tried to off you when you’re an infant won’t help, will it?

How do we pronounce his name? “Fire-on” or “Pyre-on”?

Oh no, Phyron’s the most likely to butcher people’s names (not always unintentionally). He’s not related to MC. No worries

And it’s Fy-ron

ngl after I spoiler’d myself a little glancing through the comments, the red and black flights seem rough. Blue’s get an electrifying eccentric brother and black whelp almost gets merc’d.

Oh! Good to see the pronunciation, I’ve been pronouncing it Feer-on (maybe a bit influenced by the fear)

Ah, I say/type/think Abracadabri with affection :sparkles: I adore the time-thrown dragon, and hope for some sibling bonding time. I am rather terrible with names, so sometimes the silly misnomers that spark a hehe lock-in in my clown brain.

But, to toss out a suggestion for insulting Kassius…Kiss-ass.

It will be funny to see how Phyron attempts to butcher MC’s name. If he tries to do that to my MC’s, my MC will bite him, especially if I play as a black flight dragon.

well, he won’t butcher Mc’s name (because coding) but he will refuse to address mc by their name

And what is he gonna call us? A terrible nickname he comes up with? My MC will bite him real hard that he’s gonna cry for his mother.

either just ‘you’ or ‘whelp’ or ‘winter whelp’

If he still calls my MC that after he’s grown up, my MC will definitely bite him real hard.

I can’t wait for my blue whelp to meet Phyron and any attempt to be mean will go entirely over their head- there’s only magic and books up there. They’re going to follow him around like a lost puppy and ask a million questions until he begrudgingly gives into their charms :face_with_steam_from_nose:

Mhnn… I’d have to code in core-personalities for that to actually happen, but I can give it a shot down the line :3

Go for it if you can. At least that way our personality stats will mean more than numbers but you should probably lock it some point and have people give the MC weird looks for being out of character.

He’s just a stubborn so and so but he will probably eventually take back half of the dumb\bad accusations. It’s understandable to see a winter whelp as a bad omen but there’s literally nothing that can be done anymore.

Needs a cuteness stat ^^

Are you on tumblr by chance, or is this a strange coincidence XD

But, more to the point of the Update, I think its done pretty well.^^

The unexpected guest is a good Idea I think. Because:

1. Its again an interesting set up. If even Kassias doesnt know about why she is there, then it could only have been Astia Who invited her really. And what would be the reason for that? Thats interesting

  1. Its organically introduced! Its something that happens in the world as we play through it and we can learn a lot just from witnessing it and then inferring to how that specific race relates to dragons. Even that she seemed uncomfortable is something of note!

I can understand why its probably daunting to write a scene with a lot of Exposition. You want to inform the player about the world they are in and its such a big amount of informations that its hard to do that without getting super heavy on the Exposition. You dont want to bore the player or just straight up overload them with things they wont remember anyway. ^^’

I think the Museum scene is fine so far, its not just a Wall of unbroken lore litany and Paddy and Sari are fun to be around at any Rate.^^ So if you finish it out like that, I Think it would be alright ^^

On the topic of gods, I gotta say that im usually not too interested in the gods of a Setting, cause they usually end up being essentially a footnote in any story. And I had trouble Finding a deeper interest in the gods byonde “its common knowledge if the world so it makes sense that you get taught this.”

In this case its a bit different cause I the gods are supposed to be more active players in the story instead of, lets say, mostly sticking to the Settings creation myth. At least thats the impression I but if not feel free to disregard this! ^^’

Though even with the Pantheon and the assembly and their conflict having effects into the current day of the story, I personally would be more interested in engaging with the other races and characters. To See more of the world.^^

I think I said it before, I think you already got plenty of set ups going there. So there is already much to keep my interest as is.^^

If you really need the player to have certain informations but dont want to make a huge lore scene for it every time, I wouldnt mind having those scenes a bit less thurough and perhaps resorting to a compendium or something that updates as the player progeesses and contains the necessary informations to look up when needed.^^

Not a perfect solution for everyone but might make it a bit easier to handle in the Future.
