Ah, I get you. Does this happen with all of them or one particular character?
EDIT: Is this an error with Shyla Shaan?
Ah, I get you. Does this happen with all of them or one particular character?
EDIT: Is this an error with Shyla Shaan?
I havenât tested everyone, but it would appear that I can do it with everyone because, everyoneâs names are always available.
Hi Denzil,
I have found and corrected an error with Shyla Shaan and uploaded this. Testing this on both DashingDon and CSIDE, the other choices seem to function properly.
You must confirm your choice before picking someone else. Here I pick Shyla. The text tells me I have only myself in the party.
Then I must confirm the choice. If I choose âPick someone elseâ it means you havenât picked Shyla.
Now I have 2 brave fellows in my party and Shyla is no longer among the options.
Is this different for you?
It seems that Shyla Shaan is indeed the culprit. I have tested it more thoroughly now, and her name seem to be the only one with this issue.
Excellent. I have updated the game and hopefully this issue will soon stop.
Cheers for catching this Denzil!
What DLCs you have planned once this game is in High Demand?
@NumberedEntity found another strange scene.
Another fine catch. Here I found an old *ending label. Fixed now.
Bit help this, Denzil.
@Patrick_Cody02
Hi Patrick,
To be honest. I have no idea just now. My prioirty is to polish up this game as much as I can before I think about these things too much- this takes up all my bandwidth.
Hi Denzil,
That is a relic of an unused path- I was going to implement a bounty hunter system, where you would get increasingly more dangerous hunters after you, according to your Infamy stat.
I will remove the skeletons of this path over the coming day or so. It might make a return in a DLC.
I actually forgot it was still there! Youâve been doing some exploring!
Good find!
Ah alright makes sense also on the demon note tho I do that before the green legion
because of the armor getting heavier if your a green legion
Doesnât really change anything but it would be nice to be able to decide to stay in the mountains or go back to the dust clan
On the aging note did you mean to put it at 23 because before the move you where 18 after the event I could see it taking 2 years to move and get settled in maybe 1 year it dose seem strange to take 5 years to move and get settled in when your not the clan head or someone in a high position
Yea I totally get not defeating the strongest or the second strongest orc in the clan as a pup but a scar would be cool and to add to that it could start a rivalry between you and grancor so as your coming of age blood ritual it wood be cool if he offers to be your fight witch would be cool I also totally understand if that would be to much content to add being how late it is but that would be cool
And yea I got those stats not cheating I donât know if the ageing system works as it should if you do what I did witch was do everything on the adventuring path witch got me to 39 and I wanted to do the old orc path from the arena path and I wanted the achievement where you beat everyone so I did that and got to 73 I think by the time I got to the finale fight and since I know how to beat every fight (being the system is easy) I didnât get hit except for the forced hit Witch was annoying buy the way (I was hoping to be the undefeated scarless dragon slayer champion of all and I almost forgot the highest honor of all the G.O.A.T) jokes aside and by the time of old age I was 84 from their I imagine itâs constitution based for life tho I did have 8 or 10 at 107 and at 110 I had 7 and then died no matter what so is that a lock or
And speaking of that I had 1200000 loot after the 200000 was taken away so maybe add so life extending potions (I say as one of the oldest orcs ever to live) like the goblin took because I was still above a million loot by the end while bribing and constructing every time I can and if I wasnât I was in the 900000 loot range so it would be nice to have more loot
Finals paragraph I swear during the shire fight I noticed you can just spam quick attack and if you have the right cunning you quite literal canât not hit because the parry doesnât exist and thatâs the only way to block that so might want to change that granted thatâs pretty much the same everywhere else so I would also like to suggest making the parry do a lot of damage instead of being a block being that parrying usually means to counterattack or maybe stun you for a turn so you canât spam it on the normal fights i also understand if you donât want to mess with code being so close to the end where i imagine that could break that section if something bugs out i also have almost never coded before so I could be wrong
@NumberedEntity found something at old age.
I think that may only be on your end because it worked for me
At that point, I am out of ideas on how you can improve this game. This game might be at its peak
Hi Lucifer,
I have now adjusted the ageing slightly- you should be able to start journeying two years earlier now.
A big thing you hit on is the arena fights. I know there is a guaranteed way to win. We can rationalise this as your orc learning how to fight. In my mind, if you use techniques that almost always guarantee success in the arena well, then you deserve to be the champion! - BUT, I do want to modify the parry and make it slightly more difficult on higher arena tiers as several players have brought it up.
Yes, I am not a coder- but am have impressed myself by putting this game together :D. I worry about changing too much of the underlying code now as I donât want to break things. A small change might cause spiralling errors, so I have to make these changes carefully. I plan to go other the arena scenes in a week or so, once I have proofed other scenes and will make a few, little, changes.
Woah! You have LOADS OF LOOT. You wonât like this, but I have to make Slappa snatch more- I want to try and get the player to dislike the git. Though having got all that loot, you will have enough to do what you want during old age, even if Slappa takes more.
With your Grancor storyline, I like it. It is something I will consider, although right now I am not planning to add another chain of events. This could be something I add in at a future date, it is a very good narrative idea.
I love how much of the game you have explored. I think I should also add an old age penalty to Appetite. This will not affect your choices, but it makes sense to me. Your Presence and Cunning are not negatively affected by age- if anything, they might increase.
Hi Denzil,
I cannot recreate this error. It might be due to me updating the game files on DashingDon, which might have messed with your in-progress game. If it persists, let me know!
It is nearing the end, for sure. However, there is a lot of proofreading to do!!! Loads of it!
Cheers to you all!
Alright and was it always 23 I genuinely canât remember
Makes sense thought Iâd suggest it I get not wanting to update it
You really canât ever trust a goblin the one i thought was trustworthy turned out to be a git like the rest of them
Also understandable being id imagine it would be like the old battle hardened orc on the north path where youâd have to be using cunning to get a scratch on grancor being I canât imagine a pup being able to match his strength
And yea that would make sense Iâd think youâd eat less with age and I thought did increase cunning with age if you donât I might have to make the most cunning orc to ever live and surpass or at the very least equal all other and reach 100 cunning!! Unless you put a lock on 99 or something uncool like that
Most Choicescript projects use Fairmath, meaning you will never (or its almost impossible to) reach 100 in a stat. This is because when you try to add to a stat that is already at its max it breaks things, so Fairmath stops that from happening.
This game is utterly insane, what with all the things you can do and explore? Now I wonder, how do I get a dragon on my side? This game will be legendary.
Goblins are even more gitty than orcs. I think they are my favourites:)
You are right, I did change the age for starting your explorations. It was because a previous player didnât like the fact that your orc stopped exploring when he became mature- so I extended the mature travelling age (you can widely explore until Slappa becomes chief, which makes narrative sense as he wants orcs to earn loot rather than seek personal glory, which could undermine him) but slightly raised the starting age- which I did for balance.
However, I feel I was mistaken here and have lowered the starting age by 2 years while still allowing for mature orc exploration.
I worry about exploring orcs uncovering everything and just walking through a barren, uneventful land. I hope I have enough content to fill the exploration stage now it is slightly extended.
For the finished game, the cheat mode will be unavailable until an orc discovers it- which can happen, at the earliest, during your young exploring days, but not as a pup or orcling. I did this because I could imagine people saying âMy baby orc has 90 strength but still lost to Grancor! How dare you make a game which doesnât respect my almighty orc!â
I know players will fiddle with the stats independently, but I do not have to cater to that. Of course, for testing, I think it is useful to have an open cheat mode while I proofread the game.
As @anon12679161, if a stat uses fairmath, it wonât get to 100- or only insanely rarely. During the game, if I add to a fairmath stat not using a %, I will insert a line of code saying if it is 100 or more drop it to 99, so I donât break the system. 99 will easily beat any stat test in the game for stats which use fairmath. Some stats donât use fairmath, like loot and loads of hidden stats.
I had a problem in the early days when one of my fairmath values exceeded 100 and it caused an error. I have had to learn a lot along the way.
Thanks Denzil! I hope the game does, and is received, well. I have tried my best to make an adventuring experience with a difference- in the style of old gamebooks.
Now, the dragonâŚ
Become a chief but donât choose the war path. Choose the culture or diplomacy path. When you can, visit your throne room often. One time, a bedraggled but noble woman will turn up. Help her. Her kindness will be repaid with winged fury when you most need it.
Cheers!
Ah alright I thought it was older than usual glad I wasnât wrong and glad you made the starting age younger
And shame wouldâve been cool I donât cheat because Iâm on mobile so Iâve never gotten a stat to 100 so I thought it wouldâve been cool to get one
And theirs definitely enough content even if you finish everything you would be 37 with the new age so 4 years more stuff to adventure
and makes sense might want to have it be krog has sought forth to give you the ability to get blessings when you start adventuring if you have a event for it people might think their will be special dialogue if not (casually acting like he wasnât the person complaining that his orc pup couldnât defeat grancor misspelling his name into rancor)
