Agreed!
I just wonder where all you folks were with the last couple of games we beta tested.
Agreed!
I just wonder where all you folks were with the last couple of games we beta tested.
Uh, I wasā¦
Come to think of it⦠Where was I?
Agg, doesnāt matter!
Iām here now and reporting for duty!
Well, itās sad to say, but I imagine that the biggest motivation for volunteer testing is getting to try the game out free. I mean, sure, helping make it better is great, but thereās no telling whether your feedback will even be feasible to implement if itās not just straight up bug reporting. JimD has a reputation as one of the best writers on the site, so it makes sense that heād get a lot of volunteers. Plus, I think time control is probably quite appealing to a lot of people.
Sure, having early access to a game is neat, but beta testing can get pretty tedious.
A lot of people donāt know what theyāre getting into when they sign up for beta-testing.
The novelty can wear off rather quickly, and I imagine that is why many volunteer beta-testers cut themselves loose and run for the hills.
I mean, what can I say?
Beta testing is work, and in this case, volunteer work.
You gotta have the stomach for that.
Personally, I came to the table because I wanted to help.
I may or may not be the best beta tester, but Iām gonna throw so many grammatical suggestions at @JimD, heāll think weāre playing verbal dodgeball.
Well yeah, of course thereās lots of testing involved. Otherwise itād be called Beta Playing. Iām just pointing out the main draw as I see it. Sure lots of people want to help, but unless youāve got extremely strong convictions about beta testing then that alone is not the strongest motivator. Beta testing is work, and while some people may consider the idea of having done good work to be enough that just isnāt a very practical way of doing things.
What other way could there be?
A man/woman ought to labour with his/her feet planted firmly in the earth.
Okay, totally stole that from Lenigrast.

Just a quick comment ā any relationship-based issues is most likely a bug in that you can āromanceā multiple NPCs. I will fix this tonight.
All right, sirs, Iāve sent feedback on another chapter.
Iāve changed my method of presentation, so do let me know if I need to adjust it.
Also, if I need to include/exclude anything in the future, just send a message and itāll be done.
I was able to sit down with this chapter for a few hours, so the report is rather meaty this go around.
Iāve attached the original Notepad++ files this time, as well.
Anywho, Iām goinā dormant for the rest of the night.
To good health!
Everything you sent is amazing. I have no negative feedback on your feedback
Sweet, thanks! Dy-no-mite!
email has been sent Jason.
Oh man, The Famous JimD called your feedback amazing. So jelly. Well, actually slightly jelly. Guess I should pay more attention to the overall narrative.
@Shoelip well seeing as though your feedback led to changes in ZE and Safe Haven, Iād say you are on the short list of great testers.
Thanks! Now if only I could use that ability to make my own game I could actually make a bit of money off it! Well, I feel good enough being able to help in developing games in ways I and the game designer enjoy. I feel a lot more comfortable offering feedback in open betas for some reason.
Yeah⦠we can see that on your post. Follow the instructions in the OP if you want to be a tester.
Okay, didnāt have as much time to play this go around, but Iāve accumulated some feedback and am sending it your way, Captain! Er⦠cap⦠tainsā¦?
Everything should be in order!
Iām pooped.
Iām shutting down production for the night.
Down the hatch!
Admiral (me) and captain (@JimD).
If you want the metaphor to be accurate, anyway.
 Aye, Aye, Admiral!
A new version is up, for those that want to see their changes incorporated.
