I’ll take a look at some of these issues later today and I may have adjusted the check for some choices in earlier segments

Oops - good shout, I’ll get that fixed up

and yeah lol I’m a pretty quick writer, discovered that if I just let myself write and then go back to fix some stuff later things move along much faster haha

When I’m done with this, I’d love to tackle a different era of history. Depending on how I’m feeling about the black powder era at that point, I can definitely see myself doing something within the Napoleonic era. Otherwise, I’ve been cooking up a WWII era game in my head for a few years aswell, so I guess we’ll find out

np I’ve a perverse enjoyment for finding tiny mistakes in the code/writing of others (and in my own writing)

You cook good. It’s like devouring a fine roast.

That would also be great to see alongside the first one.

The black powdered era is severally lacking in stories, so it’s great to see more stories in that era; the medieval era is getting quite saturated and boring at this point

Minor text bug with regiment nickname.

0% for the Brigade strength doesn’t seem right

With optimal routing i ended up with more men at the Battle of Potomac because of how regiment casualties are calculated

I enjoyed this IF very much, it is very polished (although i understand Chapter 4 seems to have +0 stats bonus and also several decisions not testing your stats probably because you’re still balancing it for future chapters). Happy to report my character’s standing in service is already on the highest form “mentioned in dispatches to Washington” before my official promotion from all of the flat bonuses

Has anyone been successful in silencing the artillery battery in the last chapter?

Company C should beat them

Holy shit you work fast and its very very well done and captures the tension between the people who were promoted during the war for merit and those who were promoted for other means.

In my current main playthrough i have company c waltons company as the reserve and send him to help hox when asked. Then once inside the trenchs i split my forces to roll up the confederate line both directions. Then when presented the choice i send company a to take out the cannons. Atkins company i send to help the left and bishops to defend against the enemy regiment. Leaving company b morris company to rush the headquarters getting success everywhere.

Please tell me we get to meet Joshua Chamberlain at one point and that he’s alive? Since the 20th Maine was mentioned at Baltimore Pike.

Lol i would say not likely at this point since different part of the army from ours an the mention of the regiment itself having been at the crossroads as we hold it for the army to get away potentially breifly depending on choices we make… hmmm waits eagerly for author anwser lol

Thank you! Those issues should be fixed next update (alongside the +0 stat bonuses and lack of testing stats, you hit the nail on the head lol, balancing for future chapters and based on previous chapters, largely trying to make sure things are hard enough while also being decently possible.) For standing in particular, I’ve reworked when and how you get standing increases so it should be a bit more realistic moving forward (hopefully)

Chamberlain was moved out of active service temporarily after Gettysburg due to wounds sustained, it is possible the MC could meet him (among others) during a period of furlough in D.C sometime after the chaos of the July 1863 campaign…who knows?

I know im looking forward to seeing what happens with everything and im enjoying the time with all the characters even if i want more lol yet i understand why cant have it all in the same playthrough. :grinning: the new current playthrough i think might be the most challenging ive set for myself so im interested to see how it all pans out compared to my other two i have going.

Ah, someone beat me to pointing out the redundant "The"s in the regimental nicknames. And by just a couple hours too! I thought I’d found my chance to be helpful.

Good read though. I always love some good gunpowder warfare.

Forgive me if it’s already been asked about, but will Brigade Command be available to MC in the future? What about medals?

There will be commendations you can recieve, alongside the medal (medal of honor) if things go a certain way and if you do some big things throughout a few of the battles in game.

Brigade command is a possibility for the MC at some point, also dependent on performance on the regimental level after some time.

In the middle of a new play through noticed some things that feel a little off considering playing with a green regiment that stats say have sround 750 men at the start. Though in the story itself the numbers have fluctuated lower and higher despite that though when we get to the command headquarters after the picke battle and early portion of the chase after lees army. The numbers become even more egregious cause at that time have around 765 effectives in the regiment. division down to 2800 from 4500 our brigade down to 1100 from 1600 effectives. If my regiments numbers are true from being successful in every choice. even accounting for 1st Minnesota being dropped to around 80 men from Gettysburg and if they took no casualties at the pike if that 1100 number is true then the other two or so regiments would be down to roughly 260 effectives themselves…soo the numbers dont compute. They do if playing a vetern regiment since its smaller at the start but as a near full regiment not so much exspecially if we consider the battle to come. Oh instead of a 0 the reigment acounts for roughly 1 of the remaining strength.

Other then that all good so far if i see anything else will make mention of it when i can. :grinning:
