A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED April 5th, 2025 | Book One Released!

Like separate paths for those who sided with white fangs and those who sided with arkadians.

Yeah I think you’re right… it’s interesting where this story goes!

Ah, then I believe there will be a branching, later on? For pro or anti Arcadia, or for aiming for a peaceful resolution. At least it seems so, to me. But I believe big branchings like that are not for the first book, if I remember previous conversations correctly
Don’t quote me on that though! I may be misremembering!

No amount of training is going to help with the three absolutely bloody useless parasites the mc cannot even use and quite literally only serve to make us them weaker. And even the one we can sort of use, well it is excruciating torture to do so and even using normal magic is already quite unpleasant for the mc. I don’t think there is any training to truly master it. Maybe Eli is going to teach the mc techniques or minor thaumaturchy to handle the pain better, but that is also about the last thing my mc wants.

You already know what my mc would like to do to get something new. But that means no longer being a mage at all.
Aside from that the only thing I could see Eli do is bind a fifth parasite to the mc, the proper one this time, but the mc will always remain a very weak mage/arcanist in that case and due to lugging around the useless four in that case the torture won’t go away either. But that may be what Thalia wants for the mc to always be too weak to magically challenge her. But Thaubal’s methods for binding seem to have involved a lot of torture which is what I am afraid that they will have Eli do to the mc to find and bind the fifth parasite and that kind of torture is also the only thing that could make my mc hate Eli. :worried:
As I don’t think the parasites can be unbound by means other than destroying the mc’s ability to wield magic, otherwise death should have done it.

Unless of course the as yet unmet character of the last surviving bloodline has some form of binding Arcana that can maybe also be used to unbind and have deeper interactions with the phantasma than even normal Arcanists are capable of.

The operative term of the phrase right there. And we already know we cannot trust anything they say.
Especially now that we know Thaubal already permanently ruined the mc’s ability to use Arcana without experiencing continual torture. We also know Arcana is practically the only thing the Arcadians value.
So excuse my mc if he tries to look for something that does not mean being in continual, excruciating pain any longer.
Again, since I doubt the parasites can be unbound while keeping the mc’s magic intact, my mc would prefer to find other “talents” than magic/Arcana…or die trying I guess. :man_shrugging:

I hope the MC can find something that brings out all of their talents. Like they said ‘Your talents lend itself best to the use of arcana’

I actually agree with this…

I just hope it won’t be an utter mess. I think different MCs will have different type of situations with this

See, this makes sense. And tbh opposite thoughts of this makes perfect sense too…

Really? Wow, I’d rather avoid choices to use Arcana if I could too.

I’m the type of person you got the very hardly convinced me to join the side true your revised my friend but all the s*** you put me through all the crap it’s going to be hard to convince me and I might have a lover on the other side so yeah it is not backstabbing when I’m forced to do something against my free will

Thank you for all the kind words and bug reports! All outstanding errors have been fixed in my private build, and I had a hell of a time reading through everyone’s thoughts. Always a pleasure to see the game evoke such strong and diverse reactions.

On another note, I’ve only just now realized that I haven’t posted Yurui’s portrait in this thread yet, so here she is:

Yurui

Falco is up next, probably later today!

idk if it is already there or not  but can you can put all of the art in the original post/link it? It’ll be easier to find the art if anyone wanted to see them again

That’s funny, he doesn’t fit the image I had made in my mind… AT ALL!
It’s the first one - for the others I was pretty spot on. But here… not a SINGLE element I got right.

Still, he’s gorgeous - simply gotta get used to this new reality

Ooh Falco looks amazing, now I really want to see Flyss…

Haha Yurui, even in this portrait she has a flirty look…

There are other IFs that can bring different reactions and emotions out of readers… But this has amazingly, all over the place, so many different opinions, so many different reactions and emotions…

I’m planning on making a collage with all of the portraits in one image once everyone has come in, so I’m waiting for Flyss and Tahlia for now!

Surely you got the angry brows right, at least? xD

This is really high praise, and I’m really happy to hear you say so! The plan with this game has always been to present a viable (if not necessarily equally viable) ‘villain’ route, so seeing people being really split on their opinions of each side is really gratifying. :'D

Not exactly?
I imagined him with very thin brows! So sure, they are angry, but still don’t look the way I pictured them

And I mean it…

I am feeling conflicted everytime I play…

And there are lots of messed up pronouns…

How do you feel though? That angry look in the portrait really shows the emotion…

On the off note, I usually used to recognise you with your pfp, it took a a while :laughing::wink:

You mean, how do I feel about this design as it is?
Well, it’s hard to say
He does look gorgeous, but it’s a bit strange to have him look SO different than what I imagined
Like hmm… Basically, I imagined more delicate features, more “cream white” than “silvery white” hair, with a different texture, and skin with a more olive undertone. So it’s a bit as if I was looking at a different character.

But it is not bad, eh! I think I would have been more perturbed if I had chosen his romance, as intended at first, because well, it would have been awkward to have your chosen RO look so different from imagined, no matter if he looks good or not. As it is, I’m fine with that.

Haha, yeah, I know it’s easier to recognize people that way - I do so too - so I didn’t change it since the start, up until now. But when I did this design, I REALLY wanted to use it.

Ya know what I imagined from this… You romancing Falco but still couldn’t betray Param or vice versa, you’re already romancing Leon but decided to help Arcadians… Maximum angst.

My mind suddenly created these scenarios while I was reading your comment…

Honestly, I imagined scenarios like that too, because I’m curious of what would come out of it.
Though well, it won’t happen on my playthrough, obviously
I’m glad I imagined Leon almost exactly as he looks like though!
