A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED April 5th, 2025 | Book One Released!

Don’t really get the whole kill every single arcadian. The whole arcadia government uses the same building. You really wouldn’t have to go the whole 9 yards. Wouldn’t be surprised if some people were arcadian without knowing it.

Your arcadian btw if you didn’t know

I wouldn’t say I hate Param, I just think there’s other solutions to this problem than genocide. One that I think most people would be in favour of is rooting out the conspiracy for a start.

Phantasma came from somewhere, it’s possible they can be sent back or otherwise separated permanently from the mortal realm without killing a bunch of Arcadian kids. I’m generally pro-Param, I don’t like most of the Arcadia characters but like, that doesn’t mean they deserve to die.

The more I read, the more I feel that the author has made (don’t know if intentionally or unintentionally) another DAII Templars vs Mages:
Two morally grey side, one oppressed and the other oppressor, one magic and the other “anti magic”, neither full evil, however he’s so focused to show the unpleasant aspect of both and he forgot to write reasons to actually grow attached to either of them.

Does that make Thalia Anders? She wants to blow up the church to bring about freedom? My Anders-mancer stabbed that bastard in the gut for that, but I think my mage would just be like, “Meh.”

Let’s see… F is Fenris. Yu is Isabella? This is fun…

Aaaand now I wanna kill Thalia even more now. I didn’t even think that was possible.

Going by that I want to kill F too.

Sweets! We making a bucket list! :smirk: :clinking_glasses:

  1. We take down lots of folks! Who’d be first? The list is endless! (Leon?, Ante?, F?, Thalia? Any?? Everyone?)

  2. Burn any and everything! (What better way to show ‘fireworks’ than how we went out!)

  3. Make a nice get away to uncharted lands to live out the rest of our lives!

Let’s keep the dreams alive! Nothing but a vacation now after racking up on vacation days of a good hard days of work our MC has, have, and will have done! Let’s get the list going on what we’d like! Just loving the chaos of it. So beautiful! Never felt so free! :face_holding_back_tears:

(If this is about the story only but I’m not saying to do this for real in reality just to clarify. I just want people to know that. Do not do this for real in real life please.)

I hope we can install some kind of lesson into Param about the whole “cheered for our deaths then turned around” thing, the people are seriously lacking in critical thinking.

Many times, the only way for people to learn lessons is to have them suffer the consequences of their actions.

In this case, I’d like to see Param desperate for the mage’s help and the mage calmly point out to them that they stood around cheering while they were burned at the stake. The reason the mage is alive has nothing to do with them.

“You want my help? You cheered my death. Threw things at me and called me vile names. You cheered as the pyre was set alight.” The mage pauses, calmly looking at all of them and silencing the arguments on their lips. “The only reason I stand before you today is because someone else valued my life enough to rekindle it. And you? You built a monument that insults me. You made your choice. You killed me and celebrated my death.”

Mouth tightening, the mage straightens their back and lifts their chin. “You wish for help? Ask your fucking statue for it, for you will find none from me. The time has come for you to suffer the consequences of your choices. May you all choke on them.”

We got people actively trying to commit ethnic cleaning in the forums now.

I’m still stuck on how the solution is to eliminate the VICTIMS of crimes instead of deleting the PERPETRATORS of the crimes. Crazy.

Not to mention, achieving the “demon” magic doesn’t work 98% of the time. We’ve met the literal exceptions of YEARS of child trafficking/experimentation. There have been five confirmed survivors of phantasma binding that may result in use. Four of which we know. Three of which have died. Two have been revived.

To decide it’s worth killing an entire ethnic group because FIVE individuals of the most recent generation were forcefully given magic super powers is just ???

Edit: The characters I counted are F, Eli, Sister, the mage, and the mystery character that knows F at the end of the recent demo. I give her a maybe on actually having a phantasma. Not sure if Ralos/Altea should count since we don’t know how they got theirs.

I was thinking less “I’m going to let you burn” and more “Let’s see what it takes for you to learn your lesson before you get my help again”

But what could let them learn their lesson other than leaving them to their fate?

That statue is enough to make me want to clobber them all with it. To try to take the high road after torturing the mage to death is just wrong.

Okay, but why everybody has the beef with the statue? Like it’s a normal thing - to build a monument to your heroes.

Eh…depends on the MC. I have Two. Wilhelm hated attention when he was alive and always tried to hide what he did and downplayed it. He doesn’t appreciate that the three closest people he had while alive were okay with making a public monument and praying to said monument, it’s uncomfortable and over the top to the point it’s a bother. My other MC Sarya hates that her effort was burnt away quite literally and they cheered for it, and then she imagines this nice big festival where everyone is having fun all centered around a statue of her and she gets furious imagining the same people who cheered while she burned now cheering for what she stood for instead. Both understand the need for a “Martyr” figure and feel differently but ultimately understand it, the statue is uncomfortable for both however.

No-no-no, I understand playing the character - my Mage wants to sink to the core of the earth when hearing about this, but there are players who hate it a lot, and I don’t know why.

I hate it because my mage hates it. She’s slightly more forgiving about things than I would be (she still wants to kill Leon and Ante, but she’s kind of cold and broken right now, feeling totally alone after the scene with F, and realizing she’ll always be alone), but I think this sums it up:

I can’t even think of anything to compare it to, but it’s a worse incarnation of spousal abuse. In this case the abuser (Leon and the whole of Param, minus Ilya and Saine) is “apologizing” to the mage by creating this stupid ass monument. A lesser version would be putting someone you “love” in the hospital by beating them nearly to death, then bringing them chocolates and wanting to netflix and chill while they’re still laying in the bed broken from what you did to them. So they can just fuck off.

Okay, no, while Leon did quite an oopsie-daisy, that was not domestic violence in any shape or form. Domestic violence comes from one person establishing dominance and making themself feel greater than they are. Leon is a lot of things during the days before the execution, but in no way this situation made him feel a silver of good. Throwing punches when you are hurt, angry and confused is not a lauded behavior, still not domestic violence.

I was using that as a comparison, not as a set in stone thing.

And just for the record, domestic violence doesn’t make the abuser feel “good”, it makes them feel in control. So when the subject does something “bad”, they are justified in punishing it. It’s why, often, you hear stories of the targets of such abuse saying they deserve it–because that’s what they’re told by the abuser (“You’re making me do this!!”). In some ways, that does describe Leon’s behavior. He punched my mage full-on in the face because he was angry, because she couldn’t give him an excuse for her behavior and asked him to trust her. That was abusive. The rest was just stone cold murder.

I mean, Param is also an ethnic group. We still shouldn’t wipe them out.

But also, phantasma aren’t evil. The “demon” thing is made up.
