A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED April 5th, 2025 | Book One Released!

I get where you are comong from, but you are dangerously close to " don’t think, just look at pretty colors" and " its magic i ain’t gotta explain s**t" arguments. That’s why I said earlyer that it’s fine if the author fills the gaps of inconsequential stuff but not the important stuff.
Look at Antes love for Leon. She loves Leon > so she wants to protect him > so she’s suspicious of our suspicious Mc > so the has them under observation at all times > she only gets more suspisious as time goes on > she confronts Mc and gets her people killed > she stops Mc from breaking the enchantment > that resulted in Mc having to kill the Saintess > she advocates for Mc execution and gets them killed.
All that was informed by the fact that she is in love with Leon. That has major consequence for the characters and overall plot. Ante’s motivation for what she does is not unnecessary, its crutial for the story. The J.K. thing was unnecesary in the way that she shouldn’t even be coming up with that stuff. Just say “they did it like everyone else” or that she haven’t thought abot it and it would be fine but instead she came up with a new mechanic that turns the whole story upside down.
What winds me up these days is when people don’t think enough about media they consume, just eat it all up and wait for the next thing, worsening overall quality of all future creations. People forget that writing is a form of craft just like carpentry or architecture. And just like a crooked table a story also can have objective flaws and its not an attack on the author if you point them out. Just like a piece of furniture needs all its parts fitting neatly together so does the story. No one ever complained “that story makes just to much sense”, " I just hate how the plot progression was clear and understandable" or " I can’t stand how the characters motivations were clear and their actions well informed". Writing and every form of art is like a house. First and foremost it has to stand, because it doesent matter how beautiful you make it, if its foundation is faulty it will crumble ( not that this book is in that state, just to be clear).
