A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) | UPDATED 7/19/2026 (+331k, 586k total)

Not my Sevan.

But it’s a personality thing.

My MC responded to his abusive childhood with the revelation that power not used to protect others is utterly useless.

A phantasm that sacrificed his life, sacrificed his afterlife, to serve.

They are the same. To cast him into the darkness? Never.

So Sevan sadly said goodbye to Nyx.

Is the reunion with Ilya still set for book 2?

For me it was easy lol. My favorite archetype of all time is the sword mage and I absolutely love gravity abilities. And it didn’t disappoint, it made me feel so cool plus using a gravity core like a rasengan is so badass

Quite honestly not really. Both the close combat abilities and general overall versatility means going with the new one is an easy decision for me

Oh wow, I remember reading book 1 when it was just a short DEMO ages ago. I hadn’t been on the forums in a while and only came back recently. Congrats on publishing!

Hello, I’ve been greatly enjoying the demo (and replayed it too many times already) and I just wanted to mention a few errors I found within Chapter 9. The elihired variable isn’t set to true while playing through the game normally, though it is activated properly when using the Chapter Skip. Additionally, the [WARMAGE] option is still available during Chapter 9 when entering the old cistern even if you choose the path of the Highmage (the Highmage option is correctly locked to the Highmage path). Afterwards, even though I chose to leave the boy with the Wardwatch agent, the game acts as though I left him in the shop alone.

Yes! I know you’ve been waiting a long time (sorry about that!) but it’s definitely coming in Book 2.

Thank you so much! It was just a pandemic project back then, had no idea it’d come this far haha

This is all absolutely invaluable, and I’ll make sure to have them fixed ahead of the next update. Thank you for catching these!

Oh wait the reunion with her is happening in book 2??? I thought it was gonna be book 3. I’m so excited then.

Hopefully it goes better than the meet with Saine. Then again I doubt she’ll have a knife to stab us with.

My apologies if this isn’t the right place, but are you aware of the bug in book one that prevents the “Old Faces, New Places” achievement for firing? You have the achievement inside an if (profession = “charisma”), but that check is inside and else following a separate if (profession = “charisma”) so it can’t be reached.

Code
*selectable_if (freecharisma = 0) #Watch a play at the local theater.
*gosub trial_end
*set freecharisma 1
*set charisma %+ 15

*page_break

*if (profession = "charisma")
  *set acting true
  *set charisma %+ 10
  <text>
  *choice
    #"What, you want an autograph or something?"
      <text>
      *goto barbs
    #"We sure have come a long way, huh."
      <text>bs
    #"I really miss those days."
      <text>
      *goto countup
*else
  <text>
  *if (profession = "charisma")
      *achieve charismacali
  *goto countup

Thank you for the catch! I’ll have that fixed once Book 2 is sent in for editing & publication, as at that point I’ll be in intense communication with CoG. Sorry for the trouble!

I would like to say that in the current demo in chapter 9 during the fight in the old cistern, even though I chose to cast Shaman’s Elegy, it mentioned summoning Airas instead of Gweila

If anyone here was ever considering temporarily subscribing to the patreon to get the new demo, do it now. I promise to you specifically with this month’s update you’re not going to be disappointed. Holy shit.

Thanks for the catch! Will have this fixed ahead of the next public release.

Glad you enjoyed, more coming where that’s from! :grinning_face:

@Parivir
ive been keeping up with this since book one was still WIP

its great and all but i have some notes i hope it would be helpful for you.

i dont know if this is intentional or not but the scene where the MC is having a haircut in Arcadia and he says Lets get you looking alive again, its confusing. the NPCs behave and speak like they know the true identity of the MC when as far as i know only Yusuha and Flyss know at that point (well figured it out) and its basically a recurring confusion as to who knows what throughout the demo. some call the MC with their full name and some call the MC with the fake name. overall its been confusing.

as for the second thing. i noticed that the transitions from scenes to scenes or from place to place to be quite harsh and had me several times questioning “what? wait? what?” especially with illya’s scene when shes trying to open and speak to isha and all of a sudden out of the blue im talking to some guy in some place while trying to heal plague patients? and the same thing when MC gets Raegusa, and the fight with the twins, idk felt to me like it was harsh around the edges and very confusing at times.

hopefully this is just because its a demo

PARAVIR… give me a dialogue option that acknowledges if leon punches the mage back in book one once they reunite… AND MY LIFE IS YOURS

More than anything, I want two things from that reunion:

  1. The option to punch Leon in the face, but not with my actual fist, I wanna use the Fist of the Dark Lord. Not to kill him mind you, I just think it would be extremely funny to punch him in the face with magic, it would be an amazing way to clear the air between him and the mage, magically knocking him into a wall then just saying “okay now I forgive you.”
  2. The option to take issue with being burnt alive. Not take issue with being executed (lest I start that conversation up again), specifically saying “I don’t mind the execution, but I would’ve preferred something less painful.”

Neither of these options are in any way necessary, but I personally find the ideas funny for being arguably the pettiest ways to resolve the…shall we say ‘tension’ that may exist. Well either that or gaslighting everyone into thinking the mage never died at all.

The person they burnt at the stake was simply the MC’s secret third evil sibling, Egam, who looked exactly like them for secret magical reasons nobody in Param could understand. Totally.
