A Long Weekend (Drama, Romance, Slice-of-Life) [PUBLISHED]

Just curious, how long does it usually take for submissions to go through? Call me an impulse shopper but I kinda want to buy this thing already.

Well let me put it this way, another WiP on the forum, Sword of Rhivenia, was submitted September of last year and is predicted to release in July of this year… and almost every release comes around a month or more after the predicted date.

It’ll probably be a bit.

I feel you on that but at the same time they also dont seem in the right mind set to actually consider the consequences but speaking from someone who’s been there done that it def can end ugly for sure.

Damn. I am compelled to write my first reply here in my years of reading on this site. What a terrific story! As a psych student, I admire that you captured both fascinating and disheartening aspects of someone with that condition so I’m definitely looking forward to what you have in store. Though I can’t relate with fully MC because both I and my inner voice are too stubborn to quit life, I just want to say that to whoever reading this who suffered or still suffers that terrible condition, don’t believe it’s lies. Stand up everyday and create something extraordinary, the world needs you to be your best self!

The fact that I felt the story physically and emotionally destroy me, then I realized it’s just written so well…is something. I honestly felt really bad after it , but it’s so real. One would wanna ask how you’d be able to present these scenes of pain so accurately…:frowning:

And omg now I’d really take up on a bf like Alex, he’s magic. Legit need. The situation he creates for MC is too perfect -,but she deserves that to happen, after all the pain - and my favorite thing she does is accepting the help and affection from him, when she needs that.
We all need an Alex honestly.

Exactly! If you paid more attention to the main post, you would have seen that the game is tagged as Romance (very emphasized—it’s in the title), that nowhere it claims to be about depression, and that nowhere its described to have someone overcoming it (since, once again—there’s no mention of depression to begin with).

I’m very sorry you even arrived to actually open the game, after all of these misunderstanding just from the forum topic, but once you were in, it seems you thought it to be a linear story. You must be very unfamiliar with the Choice of Games label and forum, then, since the choices are the main part of the stories written here. Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it in no time!

All in all, since I’m an adult and I hope to be speaking with another adult, why don’t you avoid to type random petty things with the only outcome—this is linear, indeed—of getting yourself flagged? I have very little time, and honestly I don’t care about whatever you were trying to accomplish. Since this is all the attention you’ll get from me, please refrain from further comment.

It has a wide timeframe. Depending upon the vacancies and workload the cog staff have, they can publish it from a month to a few months. That is still an approximation, I’d request you to take it as such.

Man, i thought it will be a cool romance drama if you can branch the idea a bit.
maybe after a long and hard recovery either by mc decision himself or help from other ro. The mc finally able to have more a healthy mind and habit.
When light finally shine upon his life for the first time since a long time a shadow from the past unsurprisingly crawling back to his life and threaten his relationship with few people close to him and his inner balance he recently able to find.

It’s a crude idea I know. You can add more idea and polished it again, maybe make a redeeming arc for the antagonist so the player can choose to give another chance (friendship or more) for the antagonist or something.
Overall I think it’s a nice idea to explore if you do have time and passion for it.
I think we don’t have many, slice of life or romance drama cog games yet, so it’s a nice niche. we have many action with a little bit of romance so if you do actually want to expand this project I will be more than delightful to see it.

I finished it 3 times and despite making choices that should make the character feel better in a healthy way my character always ends up comitting suicide, what i am doing wrong?

Its the same for me, but instead of suicide, nothing changes in MC’s life.

Nevermind, it seems like I made the wrong choices or something because Ive got a different ending now, all good

It heavily depends on the choices you make since the very beginning. My suggestion is to check often how the stats change
In the final version, however, I tweaked the difficulty to make it slightly easier to get a good ending.

The premise is very daring exploring depression on such an intimate way trying to let readers know what one goes through when they hit rock bottom, how the lifes of people you know that are going great have a negative impact on that mind, persuing romance even if you are not at all prepared for it.

Definitely sticked with me after playing the demo, totally recommend checking out the final version of the game.So many emotions it is worth it.

@Daleko Just thought of something. You could do a sequel to this and call it ‘The Week After’ :joy:
