3rd person, present tense

I’m curious how everyone feels about it - for choose your own adventure type games. The idea is to make the MC more of a real person, with some of his own thoughts, goals, fears… etc. Which would make the player more of an influential force, rather than the one in the shoes. I think it could help strengthen the ‘MC’ type of character (and the overall story). Of course there may already be some Choice games like this, I just haven’t played enough of them yet.

What "person" works best?

I’d say experiment with both and see what comes naturally to you as a writer – in what tense do you think of the story in your head? It’s interesting to realize the effect that perspective/tense can have on sentence structure. I decided to write part of my game (a sort of flashback) in past tense (2nd person), and it’s surprisingly hard. The short answer is: As long as you can make it work, the community should be accepting of it.
