What options matter to you beyond name, gender, and sexuality?

Appearance and background story are pretty important for me. I love customizing my character because it feels more like I’m actually in the story rather than just reading it. For appearance, mentioning race/ethnicity would be nice. As for background story, unless the person’s origin is set for certain purposes, I would really like to choose (this can help with stat customization also).

Ethnicity is a big one for me, even if it has no baring on the game in of itself it goes a long way for immersion for me. It’s always a bit jarring when I’m described a pale, or fair skinned in games. I don’t even mind set gender as long as I get to set what that gender looks like.

That’s a really intriguing suggestion. In real life, someone can certainly respect someone else while utterly despising them, or be very excited about being friends without actually having romantic attraction.

Much harder to write than a simple rapport slider, but potentially much more interesting.

In my WIP I have “relationship score”, which is how well you get along considering your circumstances with that person, and also “relationship type”. So you can have a flirty relationship with someone you dislike, or an enemy you respect, or any other combination of 5-6 relationship types/liking.

I like the way you suggested better, with the individual sliders maybe translating into an archetype (respect & friendship high=true friend, etc.) I’ll think about whether to edit that whole mechanism.

p.s.: What do you see as the difference between friendship and affection, is affection how you’re describing romantic feelings?

I’m not sure if you were asking everyone or just @ArcanaCero, but for me affection would be general sympathy/benevolence. A better term for romantic/sexual feelings would be attraction.

I myself am also curious as to the nuances of friendship and love as I have never experienced true friendship and love isn’t really an important thing to me at the moment.

I think of friendship as a mutual bond that can be broken a bond formed by choice abd a bond that will either break easily or is near impossible to.
I can’t really explain love. (Too hard for me to explain/understand)
