Hello everyone, it’s SUB here again.
After several day, I’ve decided to rewrite The New Hope from scratch. I wanted to fix the clunky writing and the parts of the lore that felt a bit off in the previous version.
What’s New?
Well… Anime-Inspired Narrative. The new script is heavily inspired by the anime vibes we all lovepacked with drama, comedy, and emotional moments.
A New Protagonist. Dive deep into the story of a mercenary navigating a chaotic world caught between the remnants of the old era and the dawn of a massive transition.
Total Lore Overhaul. The world and its history are being completely reimagined. (Though I might have kept a few bits and pieces from the original and tweaked them here and there… hehe)
Improved Writing. Moving away from stiff dialogue to a more fluid, character-driven experience
Also. My old illustrations looked a bit too “scruffy” for my liking, so I am redrawing the whole lot to match the new quality of the story too.
AI?
Well. The New Hope is translated entirely with the assistance of AI. Since English isn’t my strongest suit, I sincerely apologize for any awkward phrasing. Please be kind and don’t throw rotten tomatoes at me! TwT

I like it so far I few errors but I’m interested. How old is Mc? This also gives me a mecha kind of vibe ( like the anime code geass) when the exo-suits were mentioned. Do you plan on keeping Hel as the only Ro?

The MC age is 19 year old
For the story I can’t tell much because it will be spoiled
And yes. For now only Hawkins is the only RO. Future RO will add later and of cause you can pick their gender as well

Wanted to say im enjoying what you’ve given us thus far and issues I spoted the other day have been fixed. 
I do however have a suggestion when it comes to the gun selections might be a good idea to give something that tells what style and purpose the particular guns are or at least what trait they might give a player. Perhaps you could use the method of when selected it goes to give that info in a screen and asks a player to confirm such a choice or to go back to the gun selection screen. Exspecially since most people might not know what the guns are just based off how the options are currently listed.
With that out of the way lol im looking forward to seeing what you give us next exspecially after that flash back when it seems our MCs father was part of the founding of the group. An knew about things in advance or potential for it at least.

At the moment, I don’t have any plans to add new content, as I’m currently unable to come up with fresh ideas—the project I was working on felt too rushed and disorganized.
However, I am in the process of rewriting it, and the new version will be vastly improved. Whereas I previously based my writing on real-world vehicles and firearms, this rewrite will take a different approach: the weapons, vehicles, and almost everything else will feature fictional names and possess their own unique lore. (Oh, and yes—this rewrite might lean a little bit more towards an “anime-style” aesthetic. Heh heh.)

@Jun_Sad wanted to give you a heads up started a new playthrough and found a bit of a issue not game breaking yet but we have a bit of a text loop when making it to the office and the drop off riko and after selecting g to ask if she is alright and she goes to sit down in her huff. It repeats to the paragraphs of just after we first met her.
Playing a little further along when at the recruit office after players father shows up the text refers to us by male pronouns but was expecting to play a female character with the naming I choose.. might want to use gender neutral language or put in a spot for players to choose there gender for the character before reaching that point. So proper pronouns can be used in this scene moment.

I apologize for the error you encountered during gameplay. Your question about her condition and subsequent replies was a code error caused confusion and mixing up parts. I have fixed it and will update later.
Regarding the address used for a male character, I also apologize. I wrote the MC as male and planned to correct it after the episode ended, but it seems I overlooked it. This has also been fixed.

Oh, right sorry about that! I completely forgot to code in the option to select the MC’s gender. That really was a mistake! It’s been added now, though, and is just waiting for the next update. sorry again… hehe

Started playing update wanted to let you know still have wrong pronoun like uses son when should be daughter when she steps in between us after the intial greeting punch. Will edit this post should I find something else.

Is there going to be character creation and descriptions for Ros? What do the traits do? Are Mc and dad super solders or something? Will personality traits and other be added later?

- MC Customization: To be honest, I won’t be adding more customization for the MC beyond Name and Gender . I feel that a more defined background for the protagonist is necessary for the weight of the story I want to tell. I apologize if this isn’t what you were hoping for, but I believe it makes the narrative more cohesive.
- Characters & Lore: I definitely plan to add more detailed descriptions for characters like Riko and others, as well as expanded Codex entries so you can dive deep into their histories . However, this won’t be coming in the immediate future. My current priority is finishing the main storyline for Part 1 first. Once the foundation is solid, I’ll return to fill in all those missing lore details.
- The Weight of Traits: For Part 1, your chosen Trait (like Hunter, Medic, or Strategist) will mostly influence flavor text and specific dialogue reactions . But I can promise you this: by Part 2, your traits and every decision you’ve made will become vital and significantly impact the direction of the story!
- Power Levels: Regarding the MC and father, Colonel Raphael. They are intended to be exceptional, ‘once-in-a-century’ type talents in this world.

One more thing about the structure of the story:
- Chapter Length: Each chapter is intentionally kept around 6,000 - 8,000 words to maintain a fast, engaging pace.
- The ‘Anime Season’ Plan: Because of this, I’m planning for 20+ chapters per part, or potentially even more.
- The Experience : My ultimate goal is to make you feel like you’ve just binged a full anime season by the time you finish a part—complete with all the high-stakes drama, comedic breaks, and intense action sequences.

So basically the Yujiro and baki of this world…bet.
I asked about the traits because I chose hunter but Mc was talking about hacking the last base which confused me because that seems more for genius trait. Would made more sense for hunter to beat he’ll out half the base for thinking their weak and trying to walk all over them or something like outclassing everyone including veterans in combat and physical training and was sent to pops because of the embarrassment. Basically a more physical reason for hunter. Hunter can be smart but easily, casually hacking government level security seems more for genius trait. Yes the hunter is my favorite trait lmao
