Vendetta (WIP) (Ash + Rin Hangout Updated on 20th August 2024) [384K Words Total])

Oh revenge and superheroes! Classic! I like it. It was entertaining reading and characters seems interesting.
Special thanks for the right form of slavic pre-set surname (and as I see now - for the ability to customize surname form). I half-expected that my female MC would be “Kozlov” too but you changed it right. Many people forget about such differences in languages and just use exotic surnames blindly.

A really good beginning, can’t wait to see more! Also, kudos on correctly used Russian names/surnames/middle names  A little detail, but delightful. Good luck!

You are a miracle, great job!

@marrey @AAChmielewski Glad you guys appreciate the details  I have also added patronymic middle names for both MC’s dad and MC’s uncle (Viktor Pavlovich Morozov and Luka Pavlovich Morozov) in the Prologue narration and in the character sheet/guide in the stats screen.

I actually have considered about giving one for MC too, which will either will be Viktorovich for both male and nb MCs or Viktorovna for female MCs, but then I realized it will look/sound weird for MCs who don’t have Slavic surnames  So I haven’t added it in yet.

If you guys think I should, I’ll make a poll to see what the majority of the readers will choose

Another one into the growing army of Ash-mancers

Actually, don’t worry about it, if you want to add! I know a lot of russians who don’t have slavic surnames

I think that patronymic it’s a nice detail but yes, it would be weird for MC. And not only for readers who choose another surname but in general, for readers who don’t use patronymic in real life (and it would be the most of the readers I suppose). So I think it make sense only like optional thing.

Since I don’t self-insert I wouldn’t mind that but I know some people do. Maybe, if it’s not too much coding-wise, you could make a toggle for that?

I definitely would like it, personally

I understand, I’m sad :sob:
But I will keep him in my heart, he was so nice with our character, one of the rare parent that are perfect in Choicescript games :pensive:

Awww, I love it! Can’t wait to see the full game!

Viktor [Last Name] / Viktor Pavlovich Morozov [M] | Your Father

He was in his early 30s when he died.

Luka Pavlovich Morozov [M] | Your Uncle

Your uncle and your father’s little brother. He is now entering his mid 40s.

I think something’s wrong here. Isn’t a little brother the younger one?

viktor was in his 30s when he died. luka is in 40s fifteen years after that.

Assuming the character profiles are relevant to the present tense of the story. Then it make sense as The scene where you see your father die is part of a 15 years earlier flasback. So your father would have been 30. Your uncle would have been 25-29, and now 15 years later he would be anywhere between 40-44

I was thinking i we could blend with the shadows and also create hell hound like monsters than can we turn ourselves into one as well i mean a hell hound, wolf, lion or something like that ?
Seriously is 1:16 AM and my mind is thinking of this right now :joy:

Quite a good prologue, looking forward tk it

About the Umbrakinesis:

Are there limits on how far the shadows can stretch or move? Like, does their need to be light to replace the area they were just in? Can light nullify the shadows in any way (I’d imagine not since they already move to places where there were no shadows)?

@AAChmielewski @marrey @rkgk I can maybe try to make a toggle for it in stat screen. But I’ll try figuring out the coding details later because right now I’m focusing on writing Chapter 2  Thank you for the feedback, guys

@aok Yes, what @charger and @BlindSwift said are correct! Also, glad you’re loving the demo so far!

@Fenrir1 Hmmm  Interesting. Theoretically, yes! It’ll need a pretty adept user in umbrakinesis and it’ll probably take some time to amass and form the shadows around you to create that form. Right now, MC’s shadow form is often more incorporeal and shadowy so physical attacks can pass thorugh them harmlessly. I don’t know whether I’ll implement this in the game yet, but for now, I’ll be putting this in the idea bucket! Thanks for the idea :grinning:

@comradelenin Yes! There are limits on how far they can stretch and move. And I think the farther the shadows are from MC, the harder it will be to fully control them into forms that you want to. And yes, bright lights can nullify the shadows and made them dissipate; if MC is in the process of controlling them, they’ll feel burned.

Not really 100% sure what you meant with this, but do you mean like, in an absolutely dark space, does MC need a source of light to create more definite shadows and control those shadows? I’m actually still not too sure of this one yet. I’ll have to think more about it

Really excited to see where this goes. Gravity control has always been something I thought would be one hell of a power, and the use of it in the demo is exactly what I felt it would be like.

Good job!

Keep up the good work!

Yeah, that, but I was also thinking that the shadows moving from one place to another would cause that place to be brighter and I was wondering where that light was coming from. Probably overthinking this. I do that.
