Vendetta (WIP) (Ash + Rin Hangout Updated on 20th August 2024) [384K Words Total])

Played the demo. Loved it! Ash best girl! Also I love playing the oblivious character type XD you made it such a fun thing to do I couldn’t resist.

Hey so Ash is cool and all but like how will she somehow even attempt to reconcile with the MC after burning a man alive in cold blood after MC decides to let him go. That line about changing doesnt really seem genuine she doesnt care that she just brutally murdered a seemingly inocent man, she cares about the MC reaction to it which is a pretty good indicator that she’ll do it again if she thinks she can get away with it. I really do hope there’s an arc where we can tear down the entire family because all of these people are either evil or so nonchalant about murder they seem pretty psychotic. Along with that Ash killing the commissioner turned me off her so quickly mainly because of how she did it she had both a knife and a gun and chose the most brutal way to do it which to me indicates that she took joy in him dying that way. And finally comes Luka in my interactions with him I have a feeling he wont be as suppirtive of the MC not wanting to be a criminal seeing as he already pressed them into killing a public official. Edit went through again and read more thouroughly and yep Ash is just insane

This is a mafia family, what did you expect? And I think they are morally grey rather than a bunch of mindless psychopaths. If you tear down the Morozov family, you think that MC can take all of them? I don’t think so, and they all have their own family that are being protected by the Morozov, and if anything happens to their family members because of MC actions, they will not hesitate to off/imprisoned traitor MC, depends on grandfather order. Idk about Luka, he may feel heartbroken? Betrayed? Will he follows MC into destroying their families apart? Imprison MC and suppressed their power? Ash either go insane and went berserk or just off themself. Rin? Oh you will dragged them and their family to downfall because of your choice, and I think they will not hesitate to kill MC.

The only one who take joy in this is that sussy baka’s Skylar. I don’t know about mother dearest, Santana either conflicted or join in the celebration because “justice”.

Do you not know the job of enforcer? They execute the order they are given to a T, and they are the protector of the family. MC grandfather gave the order to handle the commissioner and make them an example of the warning so that other criminal group/“justice” wannabe aka heroes knows that the Morozov is not the one you should mess with. Their motto is more “don’t poke a hornet nest if you don’t wanna be stung”, you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. It’s a easy rule to live by, but no, justice chaser and justice wannabe just won’t leave em’ alone don’t they?

Forgot to add, merciful MC as the head of the family can change the way of the family to become a greater good, they can change the rules and do it in a benevolent ways for the family members to follow, rather than makes the MC late father, Ash’s mom and MC grandmother rolling inside their grave because the MC trying to tear their own family apart.

I am well aware they are criminals but it seems to me like the MC was raised pretty disconnected from it all other than the day the father died the MC hasnt exactly been exposed to the more ruthless part of the life which after seeing it and seeing what monsters they have surrounded themselves with they’ve only got a few options either embrace it tear it down or leave. I feel like the MC father would support it as long as the MC doesnt kill any of the family because he sure as hell didnt want to raise his kid involved with it. I dont see any of these people being morally grey there is no moral grey when you are told to execute someone in cold blood, theres no moral grey laundering money for criminals. Idk i just wouldnt feel to bad for the characters if they were imprisoned or killed they chose that life and killing people that want to protect their homes and city puts them in the morally evil position. There is no way for the family to become a greater good either that would cause more chaos than tearing them down would, they are corrupted from the roots to the leaves as a criminal organization they are also the perfect target to destabilize all the criminal activity in the city making the rest of the criminals desperate and reckless. The family and co. All belong in prison or 6ft under its just up to the MC if they want to end up with them or be the reason they ended up there in the first place.

Eh, you do you. Viktor just wanted MC to choose their own path, that’s why he shelter MC away from the family but still grant his parents to see their grandchild.

I will not lumped all of the members of Morozov as psychopathic killers, you don’t know their motive and reasons.

Lastly, in real life the mafia may be into chaos if they suddenly turn to good out of the blue? Maybe not? But this is fictional, miracles happens and the Author is the god of this fictional world.

Nemesis project murders two superheroes (and vigilante 10 years ago) before targeting (and publicly explosing) Mirage (with MC along the way (cos Mirage is Yvette, who is MC’s mother)). Their leader is a prideful bastard who decided to poke Morozov family with a jab towards Victor (Mc’s dad and vigilante known as Mimicry).
Do you know how this group evaded police? You should if you’ve read the IF. It was commissioner that u’re orderded to dispose of. He used his rank to cover up tracks of the project. And he grew bold thanks to the project and decided to glory chase and expose Morozovs (that’s why events in chapter 3 happen: project wants to pull out their (still-useful tool) but MC and Ash got to him first. So i don’t see the point of crying about ballsy corrupt and greedy man.
And you’re so full bent on destroying Morozovs? Why? Do you understand the scale of power vacuum that’ll need to be filled when MC does this? Gang wars will paint the poorer districs of the city with bodies. But registred heroes will do nothing to stop this. Cos they don’t patrol such districts, not enough exposure to boost their image, only vigilantes risk doing that (answer me this: how many will risk their lives for no-reward in money-filled city).
Your moral high ground will make things only worse.

Thats always the thing when dealing with crime especially organized crime there is no circumstance where it doesnt get messy at one point, the power vacuum is something you want because again it makes criminals scramble to secure their assets. The other thing is that its said that there are many gov. and police officials in the family’s pocket which means the moment that money stops coming in they either start doing their jobs or they jet because they think they are next. I think my biggest problem of all though was that the commissioner had to die at all idk I inject my own morals into IF games and killing a man in cold blood doesnt sit right with me so I hope the author allows me to accurately convey that in the story

My man, why tf you playing a mafia centered IF when you want to have the moral high ground.
The description says Mc is part of a mafia family.
Deal.With.It.
It costs you literally nothing not to play the game.
You are acting very entitled expecting the author to cater to your moral compass

The author made it very clear so far that the superhero faction is not really the “morally superior” choice, most of the superheroes are in it for fame and money and are quite frankly assholes

I think you just jump to the fray without scroll up to see others comment and respond. So why don’t you try to do that first and maybe if you do that your question will be answer.

I think the problem now (that I see often on this forum) is everyone thinks their opinion is important to a body of work that’s not theirs, maybe try looking at this from a different perspective - try to understand their world and how it works instead of putting your vision of your world views on this story.

Don’t take all the replies as an attack though, everyone here often talks about topics of morality & good/evil. Plus this is a story, and stories are made to tell a tale and be a place to escape/experience something different from the real world. If this is something you cannot agree on and you feel its not right, then simply this story is not for you - and its totally ok.

Also learning to respect the authors vision of any story/work is important & is what’s best for this game or any other.

The author is also only three chapters in to the story. There will most likely be paths to take the moral high ground, paths to choose complete evil, and more morally gray paths. So please, let’s all be respectful of each other, the author, and the morally complex characters that have been written.

Everytime I read this demo and it gets to the dad’s funeral I gotta hold back my tears and remind myself it’s a fictional character :broken_heart: :sob:

You do a really good job at getting me emotionally invested in the MC’s relationship with their dad.
I, also, love the RO dynamics with MC so far and i cant wait to read more.

Same I even have mixed feelings about the side content, on one hand I js want to continue the story, on the other hand the side content endears you to all the characters better, thus making the main story soo much better…

I love stories that give me angst and I feel more immersed in the story when I’m getting in my feels on my MCs behalf for stuff happening in the story.

Like when MC’s mom was basically ignoring MC being happyand upset when they got to meet their mom for the first time and not acknowledge them as their child- part of me wanted to hug MC and the other half wanted to give the mom the stink eye.

I must say the details are super good. I like it a lot, there’s just some typos like the ro’s called me by him when my gender is actually a female. Anyway I can’t wait to play the full game :white_heart:

I’m just going to make a really thorough explanation in this one comment that I’ll be able to refer back to when same or similar points are brought up in the future instead of having to repeat myself again

@Bamboli_Boi I’m not gonna get your hopes up but there won’t be one. This is just impossible. First of all, that’s an entirely different story line. As the title of my story clearly states, this will be a story that is focused on MC exacting their revenge on their dad’s killer, not making a corrupted city a better place or to be the Savior of the City like other superheroes stories. I feel the only thing this story shares with other classic superhero story is that it’s set in a world where people have superpowers/abilities.

Also, MC’s family is a Russian Mafia family, and Ash is their topmost enforcer whose job is to be sent to deal with the family’s enemies and nuisances. So, I’m not really sure what you expected them to be like… Of course, they will totally be okay with murdering people if they go against them or get in their way

Surviving and even thriving in such a cutthroat world of criminal world is not possible with people who are afraid or don’t want to spill blood, because sooner or later, it’ll be yours and your family’s blood instead that will be spilled. And MC’s family doesn’t only survive, they are thriving and are at the top of the food chain. MC’s Grandpa and Rin’s Grandpa basically squished and removed all the other rival families back in New York in one generation and filled the power vacuum there.

Like @OddCatGuy has touched upon in his comment, is is important to take into consideration is that the Police Commissioner strike first against MC’s family. They have given him warnings to drop it but he still continued. MC’s family nowadays are more focused on Financial crime like laundering money instead of hurting people asking for protection rackets or killing people just for fun. They won’t do anything to you if you don’t do anything against them or get in their way.

I’ve said this previously in the thread:

I know my MC is pretty customizable in appearance, personality, and some values/views, but they are NOT a BLANK SLATE that you can project all of your morals and views on.

MC has a set backstory, feelings about some things, and cornerstone values and people that they will prioritize over everything else. And one of those cornerstones that all MCs share is MC’s love and loyalty to their remaining family members (Luka, Ash, and Grandpa). They won’t ever be able to betray their family.

Remember that MC’s family (Luka, Grandpa, and Ash) are the only people and support that MC has left after their father’s, mother figure’s (Cara), and Grandma’s deaths. Luka basically became a single father at a young age to take in and raise MC and Ash after Viktor’s and Cara’s deaths. Because of them, MC is even still alive and even live in comfort and safety.

I’ve always seen close family bonds between the Morozovs to be one of their most defining characteristics and strengths (and also weakness at the same time).

It’s the reason that Viktor couldn’t cleanly leave his past behind and sever Luka and Cara completely out of his (and MC’s) life after he ran away.

But at the same time, the close and strong family bond is also the reason MC survived the attack and is able to grow up to become the person they are today, loved, cared for, sheltered, and protected from the harsh underground world by combined efforts from Grandpa, Luka, and Ash.

The above explanation will also be the reason that Vigilante and Superhero MC won’t be able to turn against their own family. And the reason Luka and Grandpa and Ash wouldn’t leave MC behind and abandon them even when they chose those paths for themself.

They’d try to be supportive of the path that MC chose in the end in their own ways and keep watch over MC. MC’s family might be okay with murdering those who strike/go against them or get in their way, but they are not the total monsters and mindless psychopaths that you made them out to be, especially from MC’s perspective. They truly care for MC and would be willing to make accommodations for MC.

No, Viktor would be really sad, disappointed, and disapprove of this course of action if he’s still alive :smiling_face_with_tear: Even he didn’t betray his family when he became a Vigilante and he has a pretty strained relationship with Grandpa until the time of his death. The thought didn’t even occur or cross his mind. Instead, he became a Vigilante to try help and do something good for the small folks of Elysium City, who are often ignored by the police and superheroes.

Viktor is actually a pretty selfish person deep inside if it comes to his family. He would be the type who’d choose to sacrifice the 5 strangers in the Trolley Problem Dilemma if it means he could save his loved ones (MC, Luka, Grandpa, Grandma, Cara, and once upon a time, Yvette).

And also, he did consider on returning to his family and take over as head near the time of his death, because he really thought it may give MC more safety from his enemies and MC would be able to live a more comfortable life.

They can start to become legit, it just won’t be instant and it may take time, but it’s totally possible. Maybe you still think that all of MC’s family’s sources of income are from money laundering and drug-selling or something. But no, they actually have other pretty legit and lucrative sources of income. Their Casino is one (they just need to stop using it to launder money as well). They also invested in a lot of other big companies and are the major shareholders in some startup companies that are growing fast.

Viktor was actually seriously considering on coming back to the Family and become the head near the time of his death, because he really thought it’ll be safer (from his and his family’s enemies) and a more comfortable future for MC. But he planned on trying to turn the family’s businesses to completely legit, slowly, so by the time MC inherits it, it’ll be totally or at least far cleaner than when he took over.

And believe me, if you remove the top of the food chain, it won’t be good for the city and the innocents and the other everyday civilians  @TheTal explained it perfectly in his comment. Gang wars are already bad enough with only guns, imagine in this world where people have superpowers? And superheroes are mostly nothing but glorified celebrities?

The corrupted police and govt officials would just get into other groups’ pockets and continue as they currently are now. They won’t immediately turn upright after losing their “patrons”, they’ll just change MC’s family with other criminal organizations. That’s the most logical course of action. Why would they suddenly want to go against the other criminal groups now and risk their lives and families when they’ve been working for one all these years and they can still do the same now and get extra money?

And as I’ve said above, MC is focused on finding their dad’s killer and exact revenge/justice, not to become the Savior of the City and fix the city’s corruption (which is actually an impossible thing to do; it’s as much as a Sisyphean Task it is in the real world, sadly :pensive:)

It’s not really a superhero “path” but more like ending where your MC will be able to become a superhero in the end if they want to. And as @WTFISJULIASOINGNOW said, becoming a Superhero is not necessarily the “morally superior” choice, if the superheroes in the stories so far don’t make it clear to you yet

And if your MC chooses to become a Superhero or Vigilante, there are so much better things to do if you really want to do good for the people of the city. Instead of going after MC’s own family, whose financial crime is not hurting the everyday folks, your MC can do like what Viktor did instead.

Go down there on the street and patrol, especially in the lower income areas where the police and the other superheroes often ignore, and make a more concrete, tangible, immediate, and even life-changing changes for the people who live there and lessen the crime there.

I’m gonna be honest and say that the first time I read your comments, those were the first impressions I got  But, I really hope it’s only a matter of misinterpreting the written tone. Anyway, I hope my explanations above are pretty satisfactory :slightly_smiling_face:

@Van1llaPudd1ng Really well put points

@Maverick Yes, futher into the story, there’ll be other options to take the moral high ground in other ways instead (but never on taking down MC’s family). I’m already trying to accommodate a complete pacifist run for those who don’t want their MCs to kill people or those who play Merciful MCs.

The other way too, there’ll be options and chances for MC to be completely Ruthless against their enemies and kill them in gruesome manners. Or a mix of both, where you’ll be able to decide whether the people you are fighting against in a battle deserve being killed or spared and knocked out only.

@Naldek Thanks for catching these!

@Otaku_Mode What is MC’s gravikinesis good for if not for small MC to carry a far taller Ash bridal style :face_holding_back_tears:

@MasterChief117John Poor Ash will be more in doubt about whether MC is showing sign of reciprocating their feelings or whether MC is just being a really good and close friend :sob:

@K-Pop_Trash I put on sad instrumental music when I wrote that scene… And I actually shed a tear or two too while writing those heartbreaking scenes :smiling_face_with_tear:

I really enjoyed writing Viktor and his interactions with MC. And even though he’s already dead in the main story, I’m consoled by the fact that I’ll be able to write more of him in side stories :face_holding_back_tears: I already have some up on Patreon, and recently, I’ve just finished a Halloween Special Interactive Side Story over on Patreon which heavily featured him and little MC, and it’s really wholesome and fluffy :sob:

Also, I still have some future plans for Viktor that I can’t share yet :zipper_mouth_face:

@A_Fan I love writing these side stories and side contents, because I can focus more on some side characters or characters who have already died in the main story. I think in the very recent one, I can finally show how much Viktor actually loved photography and taking pictures for memories :face_holding_back_tears:

Also, in the side story I’ll be writing soon, I’m planning to showcase more of the guards, Boris and Ivan (yes, the ones who guard MC’s penthouse floor) because they have actually known MC and Ash ever since they lived with Luka in the Family compound and were often tasked with watching over both young MC and Ash when Luka is not around.

A fellow angst enthusiast, I see :pensive: :handshake:

Basically what Viktor felt as well that time :smiling_face_with_tear:

@freya_gray Thank you! The details really take me a long time to write  I really tried to make certain choices feel important by bringing them up again, either in narrative or by other characters through various flavour texts. And also, really tried to make MC’s personality stats impactful, which meant I had to write a lot of ifs functions.

Also, do you know around where or which interaction specifically it is where the ROs mistakenly used him for your female MC? It might be because I accidentally put in Ash’s or Rin’s pronouns variables when it’s supposed to be MC’s instead.

I always write late into the night (well past midnight), and those are the time where I’m most prone on making those stupid mistakes

Hey guys  The Halloween Special Interactive Side Story is finally done! :tada: I know it’s a bit late  But this is the very first ever Interactive Side Story I’ve made for ‘Vendetta’.

It turns out longer than I first expected, reaching a word count of around 19K words excluding commands (that’s really close to a major-update worth of content!).

It’s a really cute and wholesome and fluffy story about little MC, Ash, and Rin celebrating Halloween together with Viktor, Takashi, Luka, and Cara. You’ll have three Halloween costumes to choose from, which will also affect Ash’s and Viktor’s costumes. There will also be four different activities to choose from for the Halloween Fair and a bunch of smaller interaction options!

Since it is a reward that I promised the Patrons for reaching the second goal over on Patreon, the full story will be available to be played by all tiers of Patrons! So, if you guys are interested, please check out my Patreon page!

And I also posted a sneak peek and snippets of the story here, if you want to read them.
