"Unable to get value of the property" error

Im using IE 7

Since i started i have scenes done index is my problem area

I had the same problem with IE. The only thing that fixed it was just using Firefox instead.

So its an IE problem???

Seems to be a browser problem and not a code problem. My code works fine in firefox.

Oh… there goes 10 hours of trying to fix that problem…

I started using firefox, but nowit says "Couldnt load URL: scenes/scene1.txt
[Exception…“Accessto restricted URL denied” code “1012” nsresult: “0x805303f4
(NS_ERROR_DOM_BAR_URL)” location “file:///C:/Users/Josh/dfabulich-choicescript-
592718a2%20-%Copy%20(1)/dfabulich-choicescript-592718a/web/scene.js Line: 225”]

When i press open index

Have you tried running it as an administrator? I’m assuming you’re using Windows.

No i havent tried that

How do i run itas an administratorvonly my account has firefox

This may sound stupid, but is there a .txt file called “scene1” in your /mygame/scenes folder?

Yes

Why?

Been a long while since I had anything that was “object is null or undefined” in IE but, if memory serves, it occurred on first loading and was caused by an error in mygame.js.

When do you actually get the error?

Im not using IE anymore…

But everyone who plays your game in IE will still get that error, you’re cutting your audience by ignoring the problem.

Im getting extremely confused

@CJW

That’s not necessarily true. I had the same issue. I uploaded my game to Dropbox for betatesting and the error was never mentioned for anyone else. Matter of fact, I can play my game on IE from the public link just fine. It seems to be some sort of local issue on the machine that doesn’t occur when the game is uploaded to somewhere else. It’s not the code, and I don’t think there’s anything Wiredchimpanzee can do about it.

I probably wont meet my deadline
