To be frank, not all of IF is or has been inspired by the CoG base. The truth is, the CoG base is really solid, but the choice-based umbrella is huge. And the Twine section is by far the largest, having taken off thanks to Porpentine. Tumblr? That’s just the tip of the iceberg. itch has plenty of stuff, some of which are not affiliated with this forum or the intfiction forum.
Stephen Granade’s Will Not Let Me Go was a top 10 finisher in the 2017 IFComp. Besides being a CoG contributor, the author also organised IFComp for many years (they are not the current IFComp organiser though). Detectiveland also was a top 10 finisher in a past year IFComp (2016) and is available in both parser and choice formats. And thanks for that Jon Ingold shout-out. Yes, it’s a parser, but the author was also the architect of Ink, and according to mathbrush the author is one of the most notable and influencial in the IF community.
Yep, this one is an Ink remake of an 1980s gamebook style. Yet another reason to try out Ink, if the Choicescript and Twine camps are too saturated (?) for you.
