The Sword of Rhivenia (Remake) (CHECK #2244)

I think even daemir would agree and suggest to mc’s marriage with lena if it keeps Asinea with Rhivenia. We don’t need to care about for one more than other.

And Asinea remaining independent wouldn’t last long if mc or his decendants choose to invade it later if lena gives it to xavier specially if they get claim through lena if mc marries her.

I think Rhivenia is strongest. Specially in north. We have so many vassal kingdoms that Rhivenia almost feels like empire with title of kingdom. Marnia is propobaly weakest.

Political influence also and majorly comes from your size and army. They are just better at medical thing than everyone.

Though charles was stupid too not to use his influence and power get cure with other way around. Many specialist would have gone against their king’s wishes for money or threat. He should have made direct contacts with them.

Maybe, but from what I remember of what we’ve seen of them so far (totally possible I’m getting IFs mixed up but I don’t think so) it seems like Daemir and Revna are plotting something, what with Daemir wanting Revna to not get attached to us, to stay focused and such.
Might not be malicious or anything, might just be them wanting to be able to make unbiased, logical choices for their nation without emotional attachments getting in the way but it could just as easily be malicious and subversive and they just hide it far better than Lena’s dad.

Military wise we might be the strongest but I think Nicholas’ nation probably has the most political influence what with their medical capabilities.

They have power through alliances with multiple nations which want access to their medicines. Note how the whole interaction between the King of Rhivenia and their king goes – it is Rhivenia seeking favor and bending the knee, and the other party who stipulates conditions for cooperation. Not the other way around.

Well, this is debatable. I mean, if you have to use such excuse as explanation (“Charles was just incompetent”) while, at the same time, this supposedly incompetent man was apparently competent enough to maintain huge armies and a web of vassals, then maybe the actual explanation is that the premise (of Rhivenia being oh so much more powerful) is simply false to begin with.

I mean, i’m not questioning that Rhivenia is a strong country. But i suspect that, thanks to its alliances, wealth etc, the snake country is pretty close to it. If it wasn’t, nothing would’ve stopped one of its neighbours (Rhivenia included) from simply subjugating it by force.

Then maybe the fact that he didn’t any of that shows that none of this was plausible, and it’d only make him look like a fool?

Sure, but if we both agree this would be nothing but foolishness and that Rhivenia can’t effectively threaten Marania, then it only confirms that Rhivenia isn’t as much of a hegemon as you insist it is.

Again, i’m not disputing it. I’m just saying that some of its neighbors are apparently close to being peers. Rhivenia isn’t the only fairly big fish in this pond, no matter the power fantasies of some of the players.

(after all, if it was then it wouldn’t need to seek help and fret about getting defeated, which it does)

Yeah but it still can’t go beyond political power which you get by lands and armies which Rhivenia has huge cause you will need huge ass lands and armies to have this many vassal kingdoms.

It’s just that Charles was bad at how to use his position as king of Rhivenia. That’s not fault of Rhivenia.

I think it’s more like he failed how to use than in marnia than him being incompetent.

Actually charles could have done that. He could have atleast threaten them about invasion. Maybe we could have put sanction on them and close land and sea routes which would affect on their trade and economy. Maybe increase taxes on things which they buy from us.

It wouldn’t be first time someone doing foolishness in sor, would it ?

Charles didn’t even tried threaten them, did he?

And Rhivenia is absolutely powerful kingdom. You won’t have this many vassal kingdoms if you aren’t.

Well, Rhivenia and their vassals were at it’s strongest after Charles dealt with his brothers. But nowadays, we are not in a good spot, one vassal is openly disloyal and demanding independence for it’s help while we also have Marania that seems ready to force us into a bad deal for its help.

Honestly until we fix the mess that King Charles left us with, I’d say the Southern kingdom is the strongest right now, it’s probably why they are openly declaring war now.

If i’m not mistaken, it’s coalition of countries in the south, not a single entity. But yeah, it’s strong enough to threaten Rhivenia, otherwise they wouldn’t have bothered.

I hope we can conquer them after we defeating them than just letting them go. An example must be set. After that there will nothing saving Asinea and marnia from mc.

Thanks for the info. How about the power that the MC has? Is their power only limited to flashback memories?

Not that I’m in much of a position to criticize since the Lena/PC/Clara route is one of the routes I’m interested in taking, but I feel as though it’s worth pointing out that Charles having more than one wife caused at least 35% of the issues the royal family is facing, so doing the same thing seems extremely ill-advised.

I definitely see some MC’s only having one wife/husband just to prevent this from happening after what happened with our father’s marriage

Yea it’s probably safer to stick with one partner. Like Astryn. Yep, surely that won’t blow up in my face, not at all.

Its does made me wonder:
Is the MC the only one who can have 2 wifes/husbands or can the rest of the family do that too?

only mc

I actually think it was Alvena that ruined any posible goodwill they had in the past when she did that to her best friend.

This throupe with Clara and Revna is still missing a lot of buildup but so far it seems that Clara and Revna will slowly trust each other first, so I could see a future with the three of us together and all the members getting along.

(I think you meant Revna instead of Lena because Lena so far seems like a monogamous option)

If the monarch can be polygamous then generally it’s legal for anyone in the nation to do it, it’s just a matter of if you want to and if you have the status or wealth (or pure charisma I suppose) to make people want you that much (as there would be the issue of dowries and such), I assume this world has slightly shifted the rules a bit to allow women to marry multiple people at the same time too (otherwise we couldn’t either when playing a female PC) and same-sex marriages are legal (otherwise gay/bi PCs couldn’t get married (I’m hoping we can use magic to have kids with our partners.))

Nahhh, those issues were caused by him being a right prick and marrying someone he knew he didn’t, and likely wouldn’t ever love and decided it was an absolutely FABULOUS IDEA to not even fake equal treatment and love for his partners, instead openly showing bias, all around ruining the (exceptionally good) relationship between all three of them.
On the other hand we’ve got the PC whom, depending on the player, is actually polyamorous and actually in love with both of her/his/their partners.

I don’t think this was quite the case. Charles had change of heart towards his wife who poisoned his other wife and caused her miscarriage, which is hardly surprising, but it really doesn’t mean he’s got no feelings towards her before that.

Was that the actual reality, or was that how Alvena saw things in her insecurity, the desire to be the one who was favored, and out of fear for the fate of her children? We don’t know how Charles treated his wives, we only have the opinion of one of them on this matter. It’s pretty naive to take that at nothing but face value and believe her to be nothing but unbiased observer.

edit: also, the “she didn’t know about pregnancy” is an empty argument. Alvena’s own admission on this matter:

But Richard’s voice stops her cold.

"Would you still have poisoned her if you knew she was pregnant?"

She freezes. Breath caught in her throat. She doesn’t turn.

"Yes."

She poisoned her out of jealousy because of him not treating them equally and not spending time with both of them properly and did so while unaware of the pregnancy, definitely still messed up and she’s also to blame but the origin of the problem is still Charles.
It was made very apparent that both of the girls in the relationship were at the minimum on best friends territory (possibly a bit more but maybe not) while Charles was only really interested in one of them and the other he mainly married due to politics.

P.S: I haven’t played the latest update so if there was more lore about the three of them added in it then I’m unaware of it.

Fair, it might’ve been just her insecurities painting things over, could’ve also been that that was the actual truth though, or at least close enough to reality that it may have been. I’m leaning more towards the possibility that it was at least partially true as she wouldn’t’ve felt the need to go that far against her literal best friend (unless of course there was something going on in the background that we don’t know about yet, like someone manipulating her and feeding her fears to try and sabotage the royal family, tearing down Rhivenia from the top down.)
On the note of Alvena’s admission on if she’d have still gone through with the poisoning, that’s still a maybe, it’s likely that she felt such a degree of self hatred, disgust and guilt at the time that she convinced herself that she’s such a bad person that she’d willingly and conciously kill an infant, ofc it’s also possible it was the truth but we still don’t know for sure.

EDIT: We should probs spoiler tag these comments btw.

You got it mixed up Revna is the single option and Lena is poly. If the old version RO pairing choices are still current. Revna does not like to share. Lena can ne in a loving relationship with mc and clara or a political on with mc and Daemir. But like I said that was based on the old version that might change in the final version

So I heard Lena will be a slow burn romance can’t wait to see it but how slow is it is still on this book ?will be on another ?
