The Sword of Rhivenia: Book One (CHECK #3830)

You brought up two different paths this could take, neither I thought of through my times playing. Thank you lol. The king killing himself just seemed so unlikely when I first read that but I forgot about the memories and even the sword itself. Daemir helping the king is a possibility that backs up his desire to bring the enemy out of hiding. Seeing the tough king weak and dying would rile the enemy up. Interesting. If I remember right, I believe the south who is coming to fight us knew the king was poisoned though (gotta reread it to make sure)

The sword being a corrupt object could be a cool way for the story to go but surely the kingdom has had a long period of peace before. Why choose to corrupt one king outta nowhere? Unless it doesn’t just give memories but maybe emotions the previous wielder had in their own time during a war or conflict.

Frankly, after all the books, shows etc I have seen, a magic sword choosing a successor isn’t a normal one. Usually its the first born male, or a vote by lords or even a vote by the people. So im pretty glad its done this way. Brings us to these kinds of discussions if anything :joy:

I’ve gone down the route with the southern princess, they weren’t aware of the King being poisoned, she even goes as far as saying that it was a shame that he was so because the southern pretender wanted a fair fight - which is corroborated by the scene where we see his fear of being defeated and killed like his father.

And the reason why I see the king timing his death to be before the pretender could arrive is to have the new heir go through the process of a bloody war and the killing of all “threats”. A sword wanting to cut the loose ends is fitting.

Why would the Sword cause war brings me to the questions: What does the sword itself want? How does it maintain its power? Maybe the sword goes five hundred years with peace and one hundred with war in cycles? Where does that magic come from?

All I know is that I don’t trust that thing, if it thinks then it’s a conscious being who has near absolute power in the nation and is outliving monarchs left and right - which isn’t good. If it doesn’t think then how the hell can we trust it to do what’s “best” for the country?

EDIT: Another possibility, nothing to defend this one besides the fact that it is possible: What if we’re seeing the beginning of the sword’s plan? If it has set up itself as a beacon of righteousness just before going full evil. I mean, Hitler tried to paint himself as a good guy at first and we all know how it went down.

I see what happened. I misread Astryn reassuring the prince he would succeed. Well then, that does rule them out indefinitely to me.

Maaan now im going to replay a couple times just to see it through those paths. The sword is more relevant than just giving you memories I feel like, after this discussion at least lol.

I think sword just choosing someone with the strong will. It doesn’t matter if they are benevolent or not.

That’s exactly what a susword would say!

I pledged but I can’t find where it is on the page

I played the public demo…And I would like to point out a few things…first…when Xavier arrived I heard the queen(Richard mother) and the uncle talking…And the queen(Richard mother) said that the -uncle was doing or did something- that would get him killed by the king…And I am sure that wasn’t the poison bcuz the queen(Richard mother) genuinely loves the king…this was my first suspicion…The second suspicion occured to me when MC’s mother suddenly trusted the uncle very much and sent him with me to visit the tavern…By this I knew something fishy was going on between MC’s mother and the uncle…It’s wouldn’t be impossible for MC’s mother who was hated by the king to be fall in love again… though this is just my personal intuition…

Hey, in order to get the patreon demo you need to visit Nutella’s patreon page! It’s not on the forums :]

Quick question, is it possible to start a romance with Daemir in the demo?

And if so, can someone tell me how to do it?

She accidentally deleted it, XD. But reuploaded it under the “early Access” post, idk if its limited to certain tiers or not but its the latest post on there.

Daemir is not possible to romance yet during the demo. He’s a slow burn romance iirc.

I see! Thank you for answering. In that case I’ll have to patiently wait!

You can somewhat find a common ground with him during the father’s funeral if you wish to pursue his romance path that is.

My canon Playthrough is Queen Aliza: She gets along well with her siblings,Freed Xavier,Romanced Xavier ,and her best friend is probably Revna since she can relate with the whole “in love with a possible traitor” thing. I have alt playthroughs planned where Aliza isn’t Queen as I’m curious about the consequences. OwO

Here a little collage to show my character’s concept hope you guys like it,will send it to Nutella too given her tumblr has some uploaded and even if mine isn’t as compact I believe it is a good attempt with an online maker.

As you can see my lad Elden’s looks are an ironic combination between the most notorious traits of both queens, green eyes a shade darker than his mother and shining red hair similar to Queen Isabelle’s.

Elden is prideful about his status as a member of the Rhivenian Royal family and the long line he descends from,he genuinely enjoys being a noble and has grown fond of the respect he is given as well as the procedures of noble society, growing out on court has turned him into a natural plotter hiding within his humour and easy going behaviour a mistrustful and darker perspective.

He has always honed his mind with as much dedication as on the practice field,at the start my MC does not desire the Throne but as long as he earns more knowledge and skill he becomes concerned about the fate of the Kingdom if one of his siblings take control instead of him.

Elden despises the image his father gives to the world as King of Rhivenia, his senseless brutality and the open hostility he directs to nations that could have been at the very least neutral towards Rhivenia.

If Elden would not have been crowned King,I imagine him securing the post of ambassador on a foreign nation showing his politicking skills and easiness with the local languages, the lad values culture and sees trade as the pinaculum as the interaction between nations.

Without goods a Kingdom is dead by the months, diverting trade from an enemy state or even assassinating the heads of the main traders of that state would be his favourite punishment, revenge against his enemies.

Despite his love for courtly tradition,Elden is not afraid of annoying his nobles and getting a go at reforming the inheritance system, tax system to get the fees he is owed from the corrupt nobles, opening the access of knowledge to the commons investing heavily on resources for the people, promoting commons to key positions, allowing social/class promotion(meritocracy)…

It is like a respect for lots of components of the feudal system like bathing on the respect he is owed as King but work his hardest each day to reassure himself he deserves it like the classical example that “A true noble must prove his worth all the time as their tittles recognise them as persons of great privilege and responsability, prove competent on your duties if you want the rites and respect of your subjects to be genuine”.

He admires honesty and heartful conversations,Elden would have been far more happy as a commoner spending the nights at a tavern surrounded by friends and family laughing and dancing merrily as a noble he tries to recreate that as much as he can but what is behind his easy smiles, japes and charisma is usually concern and machinations.

My MC loves Clara cause she challenges those visions of “If I approach you I want to use you for your position”,she is sweet, genuine and easiest away all his worries being able to be boisterous and enjoy life fully.

Even then Elden is very lecherous and once a beautiful woman enters his mind,he is already there flirting and trying to get her on his bed, that does not mean he cannot keep to a formal pairing but those aspects make him your classical womaniser,a polygamous guy to his core.

I see him not lowering his guard a bit during all the seduction and action as political assassination are usual on the bed.

The very same idea of a young male noble very skilled on sex far before reaching the marriage bed(which was often praised on those patriarchal societies believe it or not,the very contrary to poor noble women).

Your MC sounds really awesome! I love him already . Hold on, let me take a screenshot of the moodboard I made for one of mine:

Fickle, quick to anger and slow to forgive, Alexandra’s personality is a volatile one. Despite this and her prideful nature, she is charming and playful – though caution is advised when one is teasing her – and surprisingly clever. When she is not training in the yards with Sir Arnold, she is in her study, brushing up on her knowledge. She is deadly with a sword and proficient with a bow, though her skills at close combat leave much to be desired.

Alexandra is ambitious, and since she was a child she dreamed of the throne. Now that she has it, she is determined to leave her mark on not just Rhivenia, but the world. She has set her eyes on immortality in the pages of history and securing a legacy that will last hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

She is not a cruel person by nature, but her charisma hides beneath it a ruthless side to her. Though she is capable of acts of kindness, usually everything she does is for a reason, these included. Prone to keep her cards close to her chest and not above manipulation to get what she wants, Alexandra is a schemer through and through.

She’s romancing Xavier and Clara. I’m predicting angst because she’s a shameless flirt and has all the emotional depth of a puddle 9 times out of 10, despite her charm.

Amazing character and collage!
Was torn myself between adding more images or make a smaller focus with fewer ones, yours does the first amazingly pushing together pics of objects related to classic views of nobility/royalty was an excellent move.

Your Alex does not seem one to be triffled with,Heh it reminds of that Stannis quote “I will not be a page on someone else’s history book.”

And aha exactly the kind of person my character would want far away given that classical court character that I approach you for a reason, like too similar to oneself to be comfortable

Thanks so much :grin:If you want to make more of a moodboard and less of a collage, mind frame is great! That’s what I used for this one.

And yeah, Alexandra definitely is not to be messed with. Part of me actually wants to do an alt run with her romancing Lena to see how someone egging her on affects her. She burns brightly, but even stars die, eventually :eyes: .

Really stepping into her shoes as I play is super fun. She feels like less of a moldable blank slate and more like her own character.

“I will not be a page on someone else’s history book,” suits her perfectly.
