I played through it for a third time because I’m extremely bored. I usually skip the first page but I read it and this sentence stuck out to me: “finding yourself in the midst of volatile politics as Ophaesia nears the precipice of a new era that is unwelcome by many”. What do you guys think the new era will be? What if it is some sort of revolution or maybe Verey attempts to conquer Ophaesia again? Or it could be referring to the beginning of Neraven’s reign.
Why did this remind me of Fable 3?
The era of the PC as the new monarch!
Why wouldn’t it remind you of Fable 3?
I am still working on this! Slowly but surely, haha, as I am working on some art stuff. Hopefully I’ll get the next chapter done before the end of May, but right now I have things that are slightly higher priority. I’m definitely not giving up on this though, so don’t worry!
Hey, long time watcher, fairly new commenter. I just wanted to say I love your story, and am so excited for all of the intricate intrigue that will be going on. That and I had a quick question: will you be able to have more than one pet? Like, if you had a falcon, would that make it so you couldn’t have a dog/cat/horse as well. I’m an animal lover big time, so choosing just one is hard for me.
I want to have them all! I also love the idea of owning a raven, that sounds so cool!
The Show by Lenka! Antonia feels “a little bit caught in the middle” but opts to “let it go and just enjoy the show.” :3
I love these personality questions of yours!
love the game so far
Damn it… Fuckin clickbaited.
@Fawkes will we be in our sister’s wedding?
Thus far, I love it. Absolutely love it.
There’s a good sense of the day-to-day affairs of historical nobility without being dragged down by the droll actualities of being of noble birth in what is roughly the 15/16th century. Also, I think this is the best written attempt I’ve ever read/played from a child’s perspective. More often than not, when playing/reading as a child, it’s mostly just being a passive agent, instead of an active one. This is the exact opposite. There’s a real grit feeling that the decisions you’re making, the way you’re shaping the character, is going to really come into play in the future. Honestly, I cannot wait to see where the next chapter takes us.
A random aside: I don’t know why, but I get a lovely sense of the richness of the setting. Like everything is plunged in velvet, silk, stained glass, and thick plush rugs.
Hoo, boy my mc’s poor sister and my poor mc, in that case. I don’t imagine he’ll like being dressed up in some silly pageboy outfit and having to hold the train of her wedding dress or her husbands cape, or hold her flowers or the cushion with their rings or something. At this point in his life getting my mc to do any of those things would be like herding cats.
You never have agreeable MCs, do you?
No, they’re boring as hell, if I want boring I can always go into the office and do more paperwork, I play games to live vicariously, as they. Although, all things considered, my Infinity series mc is a pretty agreeable sort at his core, he just wants to get a husband and a family and a peaceful live of blissful domesticity. Of course fancying an elf as said potential husband and living in a society that’s not exactly favorable to either gay or interracial relationships…
Most of his conflicts, aside from the inherited mountain of debt, come from that desire and reality clashing, badly.
Honestly, I think your perspective in these games is pretty refreshing. It’s something different at least, and I appreciate that sort of thing.
My character would love it. She could cause a lot of mischief.
I’m not sure if it’s like this for the rest of you, but I simply can’t take evil routes in games. Maybe I see the characters I create as extensions of my self so taking immoral choice is more difficult. I’m actually planning to continue my first evil character in this one, as soon as the update is out.
There is a saying that “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” And that’s the sort of evil I’m willing to play, “slippery slope” evil, or “survival” evil, where you’re forced to make ruthless decision in order to survive. On the other hand I don’t find evil for the sake of evil particularly interesting or compelling. I often refer to it as “cornball evil”, because that’s what you get in most B-films, including a lot of blockbusters. For example, Anakin’s conversion to evil and subsequent murder of Amidala, not to mention the young padawans in Star Wars III was something that I didn’t find believable. That was a “cornball evil” moment.
