I just spent some midnight hours finishing the public demo and I am enamored. I’m glad that poly route with Collin and Dorian is a thing cuz I’m greedy af /j
I am so glad I can have poly with my two fav bois
Collin and Dorian perfect
will there be option for poly in the game with them???
Same! I am glad they are the poly option ![]()
If you’re asking specifically about an explicit option in the game with them, I don’t think there will. Can you be with both of them? Yes. Can you be with both of them together at the same time? I don’t think so. Dorian isn’t interested in that, but he is willing to share, as in take turns.
This game is not meant to be a super hot explicit romp like Their Majesties’ Pleasure. It’s a slow burn romance with a lot of fantasy and soul-deep intimacy.
The poly option for Collin and Dorian is there on an emotional level. I’m glad you like both characters! They’re pretty amazing. The fact that they’re willing to work with an MC who falls in love with both of them shows their respect for the MC.
My partner has been getting me to watch the classic Disney movies I missed as a kid (which was most of them). Those movies are not only usually more enjoyable than I ever thought they would be, but also scratch more of my fantasy nerd itch than I thought.
So, when I saw the description for this game while I was still on my Disney/high fantasy kick, there was one more pleasant surprise that awaited me, like treasure hidden in an awfully familiar chest.
And that was how well-written this game is.
A live-action, well-directed Cinderella retelling with touches of Bridgerton and a healthier dose of fairytale magic played out in the theater of my mind as the words flowed freely from page to virtual page thanks to the smooth prose and firm pace of the author.
And I was smiling the whole time.
I cannot wait to see where my dally with Angelina takes me next. The longing letters exchanged between two different people from two different worlds connecting while the world shifts between them is such an excellent, new spin on a CoG romance and I enjoyed it thoroughly. She feels like a lovingly crafted character with depth that I cannot wait to discover. She is one half of the adventure my rightously-angry OC finds himself on - and embracing.
He’s a quiet, observant, studious young man who has a lot of silent anxiety from the powerlessness and subjugation of his caste. A destiny where he can spearhead change and fell tyrants - be it with the pen or sword or fae magic - is one he will take with two grateful hands from the deliverance of fate.
…Now, with all my dorky praise out of the way, let’s get to my questions, if they be answered:
- Fae horses. Fae horses. I’m totally not sticking those in my next DnD session. The actual inquiry is can we ride one (mayhaps own one?)
- The story teases the power of not just Fae magic, but magic itself. If not too much of a spoiler, can you confirm whether this is intentional on the sense that players will be able to properly wield magic at some point?
- My MC embraced his warrior ancestry earlier on, but the fact that the MC has extremely little formal training from being a “mere” servant most of their life means that their skill in combat must emanate from their magical heritage. Will this be touched on more?
- What about the dragons? Maybe we can have a draconic mount option
(I’m sure you’ve been asked about these LOL).
I love this! Thank you for sharing your experience. This makes me so happy!
You can ride one if you go with Dorian on the rescue (choice at the end of chapter four). Can you own one? Probably (if you go on the rescue mission and actually like the horse, yes). …makes note in later chapter outline to include fae horse gift to MC…
So, the magic in this story that the MC can use is more subtle than, say, the magic in Ink and Intrigue. There’s the magic of the ancestor and a lot of magic going on around them, but no plans for the MC to have powerful magic in this story, though they can influence magic through choices and guidance to other characters.
Ease with warrior skill will depend on the prowess stat. The ancestor guides the MC’s instinct, and as time goes on the ancestor’s skills blend with the MC’s. There will also be more chances to spar and increase martial skills.
Ha! While I understand the desire, a dragon is not an option in this particular story. If you’d like to bond with a dragon, might I suggest you try my other game, Ink and Intrigue, released by Heart’s Choice?
Thank you for such a lovely comment and for playing The Eternal Library!

So, I did another playthrough, and I don’t like the horse…I love it (and that rescue mission, wow. Some solid action)!
And…and maybe it’s not locked behind a certain RO? Fae horses for everyone!
No excessive chair summoning for us MCs? Alrighty.
“My friend, every story benefits from a dragon.” -Volothamp Geddarm.
But I will have to check out Ink and Intrigue! I love your take on fantasy. I’ll have to give that a read after Their Majesties’ Pleasure. I read the first few chapters earlier and now that’s at the top of my To Buy list. ![]()
So glad you’re having fun! The Fae horse as a gift would not be tied to a certain RO, just having the experience of the rescue so you already have the bond with the horse.
No, sorry. That’s a trick unique to Temphesta.
Agreed. Dorian’s dragon features in this story, but isn’t really available to the MC (though there might be a chance to ride it with him if I can fit that into the plot somewhere).
I hope you enjoy Their Majesties’ Pleasure and Ink and Intrigue! ![]()
On the note of Ink and Intrigue
has the protagonist of Ink and Intrigue met both the protagonists of The Eternal Library and Their Majesties’ Pleasure? Cuz they’re cousins with Lissa (or at least went with her to one of the Fae revels) and Khanna IIRC and also served/serves as a high ranking spy of Minare.
Yes, the MC of Ink and Intrigue knows their royal cousins in Minare and Rumia, but probably doesn’t know the MC of The Eternal Library other than in passing.
i just finished the current demo a few days ago, and i loved it. i have so much to say about how much i adored the game that i have genuinely forced myself to wait a few days before writing anything here, hopefully allowing me to get all my thoughts in order. if things get rambly and/or incoherent when i try to express all the things i appreciate and love about this game, forgive me!
to start, in the shortest words possible: The Eternal Library is unbelievably joyful, magical, and (despite its fantastical setting) struck me as indescribably relevant when for being written now, while the State Of The Real World is what it is.
see, i realize that thats not really a SHORT description, but i cannot cut any of those specific praises out because they were all SO present throughout my entire read/play-through. i have read some romantasy novels as an adult (the classic ACOTAR, and other similar works), but there is something about this game in particular that gets at the heart of fairytale-retelling type stories so profoundly that i cannot even categorize it as the same genre/type of story as the other romantasy writing i’ve read.
playing The Eternal Library feels genuinely magical. it is exactly the adult equivalent of how watching disney princess movies and reading massive collections of children’s fairytales felt when i was a kid. i swear i felt at some points the same glimmer of pure wonder playing this game that i did reading old fables as a kid, huddled in my closet for its perfect privacy, able to completely focus on the stories and be swept away into a dream-world of fairies and knights and castles and princesses. for that alone i could rave about this game for probably a million years.
however! even within this pure-magic setting, there are profound crises of social injustice, economic violence, suppression of civil liberties spanning generations, and the like. i cannot even begin to fathom how Leis Talon pulled this off, but even despite these very real dangers and corruptions, the magic, love, and wonder of the world remains ever-present. likewise, even as the story maintains a certain fairytale-fantastical-romantic quality, the world’s conflicts feel entirely real, grounded, and essential to the story.
it goes without saying that the conflicts central to The Eternal Library’s setting feel painfully relevant to the real world, today sometimes i feel like true freedom or acceptance is slipping out of reach in real time: an inevitable devastation that cannot be stopped. seeing injustice being blatantly promoted from the highest points of the political and economic spheres is horrific and (at least to me) sometimes makes any thought of resistance seem futile.
and yet, despite all of that fear and uncertainty and doubt, sometimes something beautifully fone, razor-sharp in its message, and as hopeful as it is grounded comes along that makes a better world seem possible again. for me, The Eternal Library was that little spark of hope and beauty, and i already cherish it so so much. i cannot wait to see the continued development of this incredible game. thank you so much for writing it—i think you’ve made something truly magical.
This is exactly what I was going for. I’m so glad to hear how much you’ve enjoyed the story so far. Thank you for sharing your experience and for reading The Eternal Library!

Unfortunately, when I upload a new startup file it resets saves. I will implement chapter save points once the full game is drafted.
so excited about this update!! gonna play tonight and tomorrow. will update typos/etc as i find them. i did see that in the character glossary, the Kitherin section is formatted with no line breaks, which i think is a typo.
Yep, that was unintentional. Thank you!
Hello! I love this story! I think I found a bug in the update. Maybe in some variables.
I romanced Dorian only and never picked romance choices with Collin, so I was surprised by this one, haha. Pretty sure it should pop strictly for poly? Unless I’m missing something here.
Doh! Yes, you are correct. I messed up the variable with that one. Should be fixed now. Thank you for finding that!
