CHAPTER V UPDATE
Total Word Count: 363,478 (322,457 w/o code)
Average Playthrough Length: 93,599

After over five months, I have finally delivered Chapter V and with it the entirety of Act I into your hands! Much larger and broader than I expected when first outlining, I frankly admit that Shattered Eagle has become almost too big to copyedit and playtest by my lonesome, so I encourage all of you to share typos, bugs, inconsistencies, and any constructive criticism that you have to offer. I will do my best to respond as quickly as I can and make corrections/additions as needed to benefit the story!

Chapters I → III Changelog:
I have made some adjustments, including to character ages (Ceto is now a younger 38, Consentia is slightly younger at 54) but overall these have been minor.

Chapter IV Changelog:

Considering many of these characters did not play as great a role on screen in Chapter V as I originally envisioned, romance scenes for the Legate, Consentia and Ceto have been moved up into Chapter IV. These scenes vary in length and intensity, but offer one (but not the only or the last chance) way for the MC to express romantic interest (be it from the heart or a desire to manipulate) for these three characters.

Chapter V Changelog

This chapter now exists! It is by far the largest, about twice the size of my first chapter, though much of it is broader than longer in order to accommodate the branching from previous chapters as well as open new paths. We say goodbye and hello multiple times during this (hopefully) climactic installment as the Prefect embarks on new journeys and encounters new dangers that will prove pivotal in the story to come. Come one, come all!

I’ve missed my city burning Empress.

2024 is officially the best year now :star_struck: also, their was a decision to marry the Empress in one of my playthrough after ā€œdealingā€ with Titus but when I replayed there wasn’t do I have to do anything before that??

In order to marry the Empress, you need to kill Titus quietly or tell Julia so that she will do it. Have two of three conditions: 90+ Imperial Favor, Raise Augusta as a Tyrant, Agree to Kill Scilla’s Heirs.

Let me know if it is not working despite meeting these.

Do I have to kill ALL of them?? cus I feel so sorry for Vidia :smiling_face_with_tear: (think that’s her name)

If you are referring to Tristitia, the youngest daughter of Scillia, with Warfare IV you can save her despite agreeing to the assassination. While that will have consequences, it will not impact Julia’s willingness to marry the Prefect, as she will not be aware of it having happened. The fates of Scilla’s remaining heirs are out of the Prefect’s hands.

Something I’m feeling with regard to Julia…When I go to her chambers, there doesn’t seem to be an option for ā€œI don’t mind fucking her, but it’s power I’m after first and foremostā€ and there should.

Unless something has changed in the demo, it was possible to establish pretty early on that your MC is only being with Julia for the political benefits.

(in fact, there’s even a path where MC eventually comes to realize/confesses that it’s not just political benefits they’re after)

I know. Just slightly unhappy that sexual interest = love.

Hmm but it’s far from it being just that and so simple, isn’t it? Just because MC has sex with Julia doesn’t mean it’s sex and sex alone that makes them eventually fall in love with her. (if they do) What exactly is causing it is for the player to decide.

Question: Is the rival claimant legitimate in truth? I had assumed she be with Hedati features, and would have raised more flags to a competent prefect once we know of Ibin being still active.

She is and she does, the contrast to her cousin is something that’s remarked upon when the MC first meets her in Chapter III. However, such features are not so rare among the matrician elite that it would raise flags alone to a Prefect.

So excited to play this when I am not running through an airport at 3 in the morning.

For the Empire! For the Empire! For the Empire… tomorrow?

Live reaction of me after reaching the end of the chapter

Pardon my language, but WHAT THE &@#$.

@Azan, what you did was criminal. How dare you leave us on such a cliffhanger. Holy Sweet Gaia. Everything was going rather predictably and then during the last third of the chapter BOOM PLOTWIST. THEN ANOTHER. AND ANOTHER. AND ANOTHER ! My hype levels were over 9000.

I can’t possibly conceive a better finale for Act I. 10/10 would get my mind shattered again.

They’re a smooth criminal for that ending, then?

Sure are. Needless to say, I’m not OK. In the positive meaning of the word, of course.
