my own suggestion stylin on me
He’s in the Morning Slander too, on Patreon (although I can’t remember if it’s in the last issue or in next month’s)! And he’s at the end of the chapter too. Him, Arabella Bottom and Temperance Caxton are certifiable side characters ![]()
Just started reading, very fun so far. My only feedback would be to give the option to move on when you’re going through the activities of the picnic. Feels more natural that you would not have time to do everything, although i understand wanting to give that option, so having the option of moving on without seeing everyone is a good middle term.
As it happens, there is an option to move on in every scene but the last. It’s usually disguised as ‘I do not wish to spend time with this character’ or ‘I don’t want to do archery’, sometimes you’ll have to read a page or three to get to the option. Don’t worry, you don’t lose relationship points for it. Though you may lose some small plot points and miss some of the characters’ development. You also can’t skip the first part of lunch.
Arabella Bottom!!!
Were you her creator? ![]()
She was one of the names I suggested when you asked for some, yes!
Well thank you, she, Daniel Drinkwater and Temperance Caxton have their own mini arc
Wasn’t really planning on it but then as I wrote Hester was all ‘ooh, no, you’re so much better than Arabella Bottom/Daniel Drinkwater’ and they became a troublesome trio. I guess I just found their names easy to remember. (Some of the other characters may also get their time to shine if I need more names.)
Will M-MC ever meet the horse that’s ranked above him? ![]()
I really enjoyed the chapter; I’ve been playing one gender with one origin and the other with the other, but this time I went through to see the other variations between the two, and I like all of 'em!
The one thing I wish I could do this chapter is “something more than wriggle.” I know Levi is a robust fellow, but I really wish I could elbow him. Maybe with an athletics check? I don’t even really dislike the guy, but I take offense to being tackled into the mud and told I’m the one making a scene, Levi! ![]()
Hi, yeah, you are definitely not the first to be a little unhappy about Levi. I thought I wrote enough irritability with what he does and that people would understand he’s trying to save you, but no. So I am editing it - it was supposed to be done this weekend but had some stuff happen with my sick mom so I didn’t get to editing. Will do it some time this week ![]()
(Be warned, I might make it game over for those who physically shove him off after he tries to explain he’s saving you. Cause I will add a line where he hisses that to you, since a lot of people didn’t seem to realize that. But the option will be there! You might die but no Levi cooties at least, yaye. Also he’s not really robust. He’s average height, and lean and toned - has done a lot of mostly involuntary exercise in his life but he’s not big.)
Krisis,
You don’t have to change about Levi, you know what best, don’t change because some people unhappy about it. I love your work, keep up the good work. And I pray your mom get better soon.
Thank you
But I’d rather give some options than have to say the same thing over and over again. Much easier to just write a few more sentences <3
Edit: And I don’t mean to come off grouchy because of Levi, it’s just that I’ve heard it many times by now and one or two people were pretty rude when doing so. @R1220 was fine and perfectly nice. I think it’s valid to complain about Levi as long as you don’t get personal, it’s just not something I’m receiving with enthusiasm, I hope that’s understandable - kind of wish I had edited it by now.
I just found out that the BBC uploaded the full Pride and Prejudice 1995 miniseries to YouTube! So if any of you haven’t seen it, or it’s been awhile, I highly recommend! My mom and I absolutely love it
It seems to be region-locked, unfortunately.
Hm, one is going with the story path of the heroine having to save the family from penury, no thanks to father dearest’s chronic, frivolous gambling risking impecunity for the extended family as well.
Hm, is it sad that she is not even angry towards her father, that she simply does not feel anything at all, so hollowed have her expectations of him become?
She finds herself in an interesting position, combining contradictions. She very much prefers her scholarly studies, but at the same time, she can be surprisingly fashionable, since she is acutely aware of how dire scandal could be for herself and her family, especially given their perennial, precarious situation thanks to daddy. She has desperate reason to try to earn the tonne’s approval where she can, though it is a bit of a tangent from her academic strengths and inclinations.
It was shown with McCawley during their first meeting. While my MC did feel sorry for her, her own situation is fragile enough as it is, so the last thing she needs is to actively court more scandal. She did give McCawley the cut, but she at least tried to be diplomatic about it. The second time, she only interacted more deeply with McCawley because of the scandal meter surging through no fault of her own. She figured that a few more points of scandal from interacting with McCawley would merely be a drop compared to the deluge of that debacle. It may be the last time that she interacts so closely with McCawley.
Ironically, my MC is considering a course of action to resolve the crisis that could result in even more scandal if she is not careful. She is going to try to enter business here. If successful, it could be extremely lucrative and restore her family, especially her mother and younger sisters, to luxury and comfort. Of course, she will have to be extremely careful that her identity not be exposed in this venture.
That said, she is not averse to making a suitable match. She is probably demiromantic, and she finds herself increasingly fascinated by Linden the more time she spends with him. A rather intellectually stimulating fellow, in her own words. She especially enjoyed the outing with him amongst the ruins.
Really enjoyed the update and getting to know the characters more, now I’m motivated to make different MCs to romance them! One thing I noticed is when writing a name for your dog, it says horse instead.
Otherwise that’s it. And I actually like Levi, I think his “meet cute” with MC is hilarious and I like that MC can just straight up shoot him. Peak romance.
I should say - I do really like Levi. He’s like a feral cat. His hackles are up all the time and he’s full of sharp pointy aspects, but I like having him around. Pspsps. ![]()
As for his accusations, My male MC (the one who “wanted to be a sheep” - I just really liked that option) is too polite and good natured to take anything to heart at this point.
Lady MC has accepted one duel, and despite that being satisfactorily resolved with no major injuries, she’s not above wrestling for a dry spot.
They both want to see him again, for different emotional variations of “What is your problem?” (M-MC to earnestly try to understand and resolve it, F-MC still wants to understand but is more confrontational about it… and bizarrely enough finds herself enjoying the argument? There’s a connection in a rivalry, too, and since she has so few opportunities for emotional outlets, it’s nice to have one person to argue with without fear of making things worse, relatively speaking.)
Levi keeps things interesting, and it can’t be said that he isn’t passionate.
He and von Kessler are my favorite gentlemen on the roster; Iris and Esther are my favorite ladies. (And I’m also looking forward to finding out why Nate and Honoria’s names were bolded on the List.
)
I just checked this out and I love it. Thank you, author, for sharing your work. I’m on the jilted fiance route and currently torn between linden and the earl. This story is giving me everything i crave during Bridgerton season. I can’t wait to read more.
Great story! Read this thread in its entirety after I finished playing the game twice (started with jilted lover origin which I really liked, and then tried the house-ruin-by-beetle origin which I liked even more). I noticed Daniel Drinkwater was a reader suggestion and hats off to you fellow reader that is an absolutely FIRE name I love Daniel Drinkwater. Stay drinking that water DANIEL you have MY UTMOST SUPPORT IN ALL THAT YOU DO, YOU DESERVED A HIGHER RATING THAT BLACKWOOD WOMAN IS A WICKED OLD CRONE!!! (please do not do anything too regretful I don’t wanna have to eat my words)
Amazing game so far! I love regency era and this game had me laughing so much. The absurdity of a man challenging my fem protag to a duel at a party and all the guests being shocked by it was hilarious. The Prussian ambassador threatening war for not getting a dance. Honestly, great comedy.
I’m having a blast with the romances. The only problem is I don’t know who to pick! The Brooding Baron, The Haunted Noble, and The Pompous Idiot in particular had me enamored and I struggled not to flirt with any of them. Really interesting romances that all feel distinct in personality and dynamic!
