Thank you! @Sujan_Dhakal is right, and that’s still far off. Season of Shadows will probably be 10-12 chapters, so I’ll still be working on this for a while!

Thank you for your prompt reply and do you have Patreon where I can support you?

Thank you! I will probably be opening a Patreon in the next ten days, I’ve decided to go for it. So I’ll notify everyone here when I launch it, but if you like I can send you a PM?

Every day I browse and read various authors on the Patreon and choice of games, I already have quite a few memberships that I have sign up with, authors that I enjoy reading and to discover Season of Shadows from this forum- amazing. :+1:.

Here are some great resources for regency names:

Thank you, that is kind. The idea was more that people could choose their own character’s name and see this character in the game for interactivity  but it doesn’t seem people on the forum went for the concept. (Or maybe I didn’t explain it well.) That’s fine, I’ll make up the other background characters names. The Discord names will be used in the story though (and if you still want to add a name, you’re welcome to. I just need the names before I publish, which will not be before Christmas.)

Then I look forward to Quinn’s scenes with great love and interest.

One of the characters should be named Daniel Drinkwater after the real life englishman

A cursory search shows that there was a Drinkwater in the 1800s who was the Mayor of Chester, but I assume you’re referring to the footballer. I don’t mind using the name, but is there a specific reason why? I’m just curious. (I don’t really watch football, I like cricket and rugby.)

@Greytrap1 Thank you! Ah Trevelyan, Dragon Age! Is there a specific name/character you like most, because I may not use them all?

I was just putting fun sounding names together! I dunno, I kind of want to know what Arabella Bottom’s deal is!

Haha, alright, Arabella Bottom is in.

Im a chelsea fan, which was the football club he was part of. He didn’t really play much or have much of an impact, and to this day it is wondered why the club payed 35 million euros for him. Yet his last name has etched itself into legend, solely because many found his name deeply amusing. TL:DR; name funny

What did happen to him? He was basically top of the English football world, right, and then he crumbled. I wonder why?

Thanks for the explanation, I’ll put him in, I feel this is a story where silly names will be fine as long as they sound British. (Some of us do have silly surnames after all, mine sounds very silly when pronounced by English people )

I finally got around to reading this IF and I’m really enjoying it! I do have one question, where does the regency aspect fit in to the story? Maybe I don’t know the actual applicable definition of regency outside of the 1800s British era or whatever, so that’s what’s leaving me confused :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Hey, thank you. I’ll take a stab at answering, though I’m not sure whether you’re asking what Regency fiction is, or how Season of Shadows ties into Regency fiction?

Regency fiction is an actually remarkably popular genre, they’re romance books set in England from 1795 - 1837 (though officially the Regency was only between 1811 and 1820.) The most well-known Regency book is probably Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. Bridgerton (the super popular tv series) is also set in this era, though it’s not always historically accurate. (Not that this novel is either.) And people like Regency novels because it was a very romantic era that was also very free in some respects, though stifling in others. Regency books are also often associated with humor and very sharp wit, which people love.

And Season of Shadows is a romance set in England in 1806, (though it is not only a romance), and I try to be witty in it, so it is absolutely a Regency novel. At least I think so :face_with_tongue:

I hope that answers your question? Sorry if I misinterpreted it.
