I just notice your game share the save file with other games… you probably should change the code of *sm_init mygame
into
*sm_init saturnine
(or something)
I have absolutely no clue how that works, so I’ll trust you on that one and go ahead. Thanks.
Basically you just need to change the default code of “mygame” with the name of your own game to differentiate the save file with another game…
The synopsis remind me of battlestar galactica, i loved that show, so im definitely picking this wip up.
I love how much of an unapologetic synthetic rebel you can play. It’s refreshing and enjoyable. Hadaly has some interesting character depth too, in regards to this, which is neat to see as well. Just because she’s less on the violent end doesn’t mean she’s like a “friend to all humans” type character. The nuance is interesting, and I love what you’re doing with it.

At this point, that seems to be the main thing people enjoy about the game. Which makes sense I suppose, given that the story is basically an attack on “humans are sooo cool!” brand of sci-fi and its tendency to make all AIs either pure evil or pure Pinocchio. Sometimes you just wanna see machines stand up for themselves, you know?

That’s so nice to hear, because it’s the exact impression I want that character to leave. It’s always good to have at least one RO who doesn’t enter the story by beating up the MC with their red flag and instead focuses on having some perspective worth sharing. No offense to the rest of the RO roster, except all the offense they totally deserve.
Man Shiela and the humans are annoying, wish mc could go off on their own instead of following Shiela
Looooved the update! Can’t wait for the next one and yes, I flirted with the octopus, and the spider-brain, basically anything I could flirt with was flirted with, their responses are hilarious
I may or may not be bitter they’re not actually options. Like come on, I’m a 1000 year old shapeshifting android. Technically I look human but that’s the extent I share with them (beyond a vaguely similar consciousness). I violently tried to annihilate humanity alongside a bloodthirsty eldritch AI. Is it that absurd to be interested in a giant spider robot or a being with a life experience distinct from humans? Also I totally wish Crystal was an option but that’s just me continuing to be a weirdo.
Well I already have a person on my discord & tumblr battering me about how much she wants to date the spider lady, so I guess you have a point. I’ll probably make Sheila romanceable, though she will have to be treated differently than the five “main” love interests and probably won’t have as much special dialogue or scenes.
Olivia though? Nah, that’s never going to happen. Even ignoring what a sheer horror octopus sex is, that character is entirely designed as comic relief. Any romance route involving her would just be one big joke, and I don’t think I’m good at that kind of comedy. Or writing the kind of… sensual scenes that would result from such a planet-crossed romance.
Status Update. The “Calypso” option won my tumblr poll by a fairly wide margin, and so the next update will center around the small moon and its inhabitants, whom the group will have to assist in repelling Crystal’s next attack. I already have over 9K words of that chapter written down, but it will be a long one and so I’ll probably have to go radio-silent for a while.
Also I have another lore post. Because I enjoy that sort of thing.
The humor is strong in this one
Winter Solstice Update. Added the “Calypso” chapter, which ended up being longer than the previous two chapters put together. I also added chapter headers, increased the number of save slots and went through the existing chapters to fix a few bugs and adjust some wording.
I’ll take a bit of a break, since this was easily the largest update I’ve done yet. The next one will probably be an “interlude” section focused on hangouts with various ROs and NPCs generally, though I may work on two remaining locations as well, so there’s no telling when it’ll be finished.
And Merry Christmas, I suppose.
Oh sweet! Was waiting to replay this, nice to have an update in time
Everyone on your part of the congregation seems quite done with your bullshit, to the point where even Olivia has to head-palm with three tentacles at once. Hadaly’s eyes are likely a deep shade of red, but as the gynoid is currently massaging her whole face, you can’t quite know for certain. Damon is staring at the ceiling, desperately wishing to be somewhere else. Rook is shaking his head slightly with eyes closed, probably in defense against the ‘I told you so’ looks Marshal is currently giving him.
Lmao, I still can’t get over how freakin done the team is with my MC. He has them utterly stressed. His audacity is otherworldly- Me, Me, Me, Kill, Death, Blow them to smithereens, I’m the most important, flirt, flirt blah blah blah He is the textbook definition of a Gremlin
You scan the room for a hiding spot and quickly find one, a pile of chairs next to a table in one of the corners. You dive there, get kicked out by Hadaly who wants you to find your own spot, and decide waiting in the corridor is probably the best solution.
After being the one to start the fight
Summary
Also, there’s a super frustrating loop with the stat screen. All I did was look at it, I didn’t save while on the screen on anything. I had to restart 5 times.
edit: Yeah, I tried not going to the stat screen at all this time, didn’t even look at it, and I still got stuck in the loop on the stat screen after trying to go back to a new save.
The bug was maybe saving after looking at the stat screen? That’ll lock you into it as well. To be safe I save then check stats, then load save, just so no fucky business happens. Whatever the problem was I’m confident it’s a system issue, not a problem with the game.
@Shenice_L Like Elli here said, this bug is likely just issues with saves. It happens in a lot of games on DashingDon and has nothing to do with my code, ergo it’s not something I can fix.
@Loveless98 I remember someone reporting this bug before on Tumblr, but it failed to reappear when they restarted. I checked that part of the code and found nothing that could cause issues; Quicktest and Randomtest sure as hell aren’t detecting anything either. It’s just a random thing that happens for no reason, apparently.
Status Update: I am not dead. The “interlude” chapter is more than halfway done at 41k words, I just have a lot going on currently and can only write so fast. I still need some time, at least until the end of January, before releasing the update.
In the meantime, I added the “RO Roster” to my opening post. I didn’t want to do it originally, since there’s not much romance in the current build, but it feels proper now that I’m fleshing out the characters and letting them spend some quality time with the Veteran. And I’ve heard people like that sort of thing.
Aw, Hellhound is straight. Ended up naturally getting close to her and was interested (surprising my PC who despises humans), seeing plenty of shared opinions and experiences with her, but well that shuts it down, at least from a romantic angle.
