Saga of the North Wind -- BETA TESTERS NEEDED

#1

Saga of the North Wind: Lead your tribe into glory.

Email me, jason AT choiceofgames for access. DO NOT SEND ME A MESSAGE THROUGH THE FORUM MAIL SYSTEM. When you send your EMAIL, include your forumname and the game you want to test. I would also prefer if you included your real name, but you don’t have to.

(You cannot be testing two games at once.)

I will send you a link, a username, and a password.

Return feedback TO ME. Preferably part of the same thread, rather than a new email.

I’m looking for “high level” and “low level” feedback. Not mid-level feedback.

Low-level = typos and continuity errors. A continuity error is when a character’s gender flips, or someone comes back from the dead, or you run into a plotline that just doesn’t make sense (because it’s probably a coding error).

For these low-level issues, SCREENSHOTS are VERY HELPFUL. If you see a problem, take a screenshot, or copy and paste the text that is in error, and email that. Also, the “BUG” button is great; but if you use BUG, make sure to say in your email who you are, so I can give you credit for the report.

“High level” feedback has to do with things like plot, pacing, and characters. “Scene A didn’t work for me because x, y, and z,” is useful feedback. “B character was entirely unsympathetic, because u, w, and v,” is also useful feedback.

“I had a great time and saw only a few spelling errors,” is not useful feedback. In fact, it’s the sort of thing that results in you not being given access to future betas.

I am wondering a thing, about the fact that we can’t test two games at once.

How do we know when a Beta Test ended, and we can do another?

#3

Yeah, I always had same question.Like I don’t know when feedback is needed I don’t send more. Because I don’t want spamming your mail. The fact most time author doesn’t bother to acknowledge my feedback doesn’t help either . Communication is key for giving good feedback. Maybe i had something i find it could be a good addition but I said why bother? You never receive a reply or questions so you are being seeing like an annoying rat or something spamming messages without response.
EDIT Sorry for the rant @jasonstevanhill

Fortunately, it has not yet been the case for me, as an author sent me a message to thank me for my feedback.
I was surprised, and very grateful for it.

Oh that type authors are very nice and easy to work with. I am a person chaotic focused more in feelings and role playing. If I have a guide of what author wants or are looking for or just a direct question like What do you think about x character? Goes romance well… Or just I am talking account of your feedback feel free send more. Because in Spain is rude keeping sending mails when the other part doesn’t answer and I don’t want to bother the author. So i get depressed and say my feedback should be so bad and just stopping totally even playing the game to don’t feel like a fraud

I try entering this, with the @ but it keeps telling me there’s no email address there. Am I doing something wrong?

#11

Don’t forget the DOT com. If it’s something else… well, no clue.

#12

You added the dot com at the end, right?

#13

Ooooooooops!

@Cecilia_Rosewood I am such a dummy, thank you both!

#14

What’s this one about? I don’t remember seeing it

#15

Not looking for more people, but if you’re already in the beta, a new draft is up.
