Regarding Racist Attitudes Rule

Really? o.o I’m interested in anything regarding that universe so mind telling me all about it?

Hrm…I see. I will keep that in mind. Thank you, though, for answering this question ;w; I have trouble not knowing my limits at times so this kind of answer helps massively! I only plan on using Omegaverse as a universe setting though, but I’m not sure how much is too explicit of content. T_T

There are about as many ways to write an Omegaverse story as there are stars in the sky and it is, in general, no more racist or sexist than writing a story set during medieval times and displaying the associated world views.

I’ve been a fan of Omegaverse since I stumbled upon the theory of it some years back, but the first few I’ve read had me rather nauseous, for example - that’s because the ones I read were far more violent than what I was comfortable with. (Also m/m and that isn’t my thing.) But the thing is, I eventually realized that there were other kinds out there too - those that do a good job worldbuilding and examining what such a second gender structure means.

So what I’m saying is that Omegaverse is just a concept. What people do with it is entirely up to the writer in question and does not automatically have to stray anywhere near abuse. At the same time, I do recommend that anyone who is very sensitive to the tropes associated with it to tap out because it is definitely one of those ‘like it or don’t’ things.

Obviously, I would personally welcome a game utilizing the concept or one inspired by it.

I’ve read more JP fanfics with thoughtful omegaverse than English fanfics, hilariously. Also the published manga with omegaverse settei do have some good stuff in it that treats the thing more like ‘SF with different gender structures’ rather than ‘excuse for porn’.

Proves that ABO is really diverse, I suppose!

I don’t read omegaverse because most i have seen have a fetish with rape an abuse people. And barely any I have seen condone violence racism or abuse In fact most of it seem to see slavery as a great thing.
But that is not problem of omegaverse itself is how most people use it.

In fact happens same with most of romantic visual novels and if are almost al abusive against women and machist (mobile market is fill with titles that are about force and make sex slaves young women) But then Cog and hosted or winter wolves are magnificent companies that are equality and promote diversity. It all depends on how people use the genre

Well, they’re just letters from the Greek alphabet; alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilion are the first five and omega is the last. Hence they’re used for a descending order, and often there’s a discontinuity where it jumps straight to omega because it connotates finality. Sometimes that means the weakest, sometimes that means the strongest, sometimes it’s Warhammer 40K psykers and Alpha-grade psykers are terrifying juggernaughts of destruction and Omega-grade psykers are so not psychic they can make an Alpha-grade psyker unable to use their powers just by standing nearby.

Omega as final shows up in a lot of places; Christianity refers to God as “The Alpha and the Omega”, the first and the last; the Starfire setting has frequent scenes of a massive enemy missile barrage followed by “[warship] is Code Omega!” meaning it’s sent the precoded message indicating destruction usually shortly followed by its reactors or antimatter warheads detonating; Starcraft has the white-armored Alpha Squadron whose motto is “first in, first out” (i.e. they win the battle and leave Delta or Nova squadron to clean up) and the black-armored Omega Squadron that’s only deployed when a deadly crisis needs to be brutally put down because they’re almost entirely “neurally resocialized” criminals (theoretically all murderers or worse, in practice the government considers “worse” to include “reporters who ask too many questions”) who won’t question any orders, even to fire on civilians or allied forces.

Okay I must asked what is happening because from what i know from Gueneverse etc this isnt your usual posting style and you see on edge to a degree that is ringing my alarm bells.

I don’t understand your question. You are saying I am not myself? :frowning: What you have to understand Is one thing Is me the real person And other is the role playing character. I as person can’t stand abuse and or rape or torture and or racism if they are portrayed as a glorified violent porn I have help banned people with project that clearly enter in the sexist and abuse fetishism. Not really needed as cog staff has been the most supportive people ever and when I show concern about certain scenes they always were suppotive and change them. So I don’t know wherè the doubts are If so ask in pm

And what is the MC’s role? Are they sticking it to the man, are they actively part of the problem, or are they passively part of the problem?

Like HomingPidgeon said, fictional bigotry is allowed to be portrayed. Ultimately, I think how you choose to portray the bigotry is going to be where your story will either sink or swim. Some authors do it very well and others don’t. If or when you do post a WIP, I’d recommend listening to what your readers have to say about your portrayal.

Basing a game around the omegaverse is bold considering the stigma it has despite its popularity. As others have said, the tropes of the verse and the world dynamic are something that will turn a lot of people off. You would have to do a lot of tip-toeing, dancing on a fine line, and quite honestly probably water down those themes of prejudice and power-imbalances a lot for a game based on that to be hosted on this site and well-received by the community here. Especially if you plan on including romance. The idea is interesting but the execution will be very tricky should you choose to go forward.

The player would be an Omega and, of course, their choices will have some impact. They can fight back or submit.

If I learn how to do a WIP or how to set Beta testing, I plan to take in any opinion people can offer! People have unique minds and, of course, people have different views. I know mine is limited and I plan to listen any critique I’ll receive to mull over.

I plan to do something unique about it. All I know, for now, is that I won’t be using it as some porn trope or some other XD Thank you for your words still!

Now I am writing something that is not omega verse but includes a npc character that is toxic and abusive. Pc is opposed to it and even if is shy or try to do it quietly is clearly not cool with it. I think if you portray a pc that submit Is very very easy ended with a stereotypical and almost romanticize of abuse. Like many shows and soap operas does. Like normally women has to suffer x treatment and control for their lovers due they are so in love for you. I am Spanish and in my country women die all weeks because Their partners decided that or with me or with no one and that women are their property to use l. Of course there is a lot of good examples of denouncing abuse too . I only saying that try to reach sensible testers and put disclaimer to not trigger I will certainly try help you if you do a demo

Can’t say that that sounds like my cup of tea, but best of luck!

I understand the sentiment if it was forced upon the character, but as long as it is a choice to be submissive, I don’t really see the problem. Like, there are lots of people in the world that are naturally submissive in nature and that is totally cool too. As long as is, as you say, not being sub in an abusive way, it should be fine.

Also, something that would be worth noting for the author is, being submissive is not a synonymous of being weak or powerless. I know a lot of submissive people that has a lot of character and knows when to stand for themselves. At the same time, they prefer their partner to take control and take most decisions. One is not exclusive from the other

And for the author, for what I have been reading in this thread, I think your story is something I could enjoy. I really like abo stories, so it would be nice to have one on CoG.

One thing is being submissive in a CONSENSUAL base and other very different iwhen you are a slave. If in a slavery sittuation you portray submissive as pleasantly and that you are stereotypical and trivializing was slavery or abuse If you portray a women being abused an suffering domestic violence and put choices that tend to say is totally fine. You are trivializing the issues…

Submission or dominance are perfectly sane and positive and part of gender and sexual exploration and freedom same with many other fetishes. The problem is many portrayals forget the main point the thing everyone Bdsm and other fetishes tell you are The consent and that is the submissive who directs the encounter one word and all ends.

ABO are bse omega caste is forced or by race or by gender or by some sort of born circumstances. In that case submission is forced and never can be volunteer. If the alternative is or you die or be in jail or do this is not consensual. Tht is why the content is so difficult and end in most cses in glorify abuse.

However this roject seems okay. I am only talking about possible issues with the setting, anything more.

the problem is that stuff like that in limiting players due to uncomfortable conntent it can help the quality of the work. I think we both witnessed it with United we stand. I really think art should be encouraged to be as uncensored as possible, Sure some things are going to be uncomfortable but it also makes it easier for art to push the envelope. If art was more censored imho LGBT acceptance would be worse. So this is double edged sword where you cant have it both ways.

I dont like the term passive problem by that logic if we apply it to everything slave that was not actively fighting against confederacy due to being afraid was part of problem. Im sorry but the rhetoric of passive problem seems to me a too much of With us or against us and of feelings of entitlemed to conscript others to your cause. And that makes me somewhat uncomfortable due to USSR. Eastern europe still hanst recovered. Even when we exclude those actively oppresed you are saying that bystanders who have families and are afraid of consequences are part of problem for not risking their lives for what you want. It honestly feels to me like taking the best of humanity and then feeling entitled to that as baseline when it comes to your treatment.

You could write all you want nobody is censoring anything. You will only not being published here if you don’t go with the norms. There is not censoring if you aren’t accepted by an editor lol then everyone should be produced in mass to not censoring. Censorship it will be if an authority FORBIDDEN you to distribute anything. Cog doesn’t forbade anything you could publish your work.

There is limits to all rights as no right is over everyone else. Pederasty rape and abusive racist apology and terrorism apology should be banned due are things that cause harm and killing people . So have a editorial principles and rules are not censoring anything.

Kinda reminds me of the sympathizer. Very good book. Had a really brutal rape scene in the book. It was meant to make you feel uncomfortable and to show you the cruelty of the cold war era cia. It wasnt glorified or romantsized. But meh what do I know. It is a good book though.

You Have to Force people to burn the books, you can just convince them to burn the book themselves, doesnt mean you should. The whole reason for trigger warnings for example was to be able to have uncomfortable material without harming people.
@Elegy
Depiction isnt endorsement but try to tell that to people, Sanitized things dont offend, but they also dont have impact, dont have influence and dont change minds
