Preferred Reading Background Color

I can see those as viable options too.

I’m usually the weird guy in this discussion. I prefer black background with white text. It is good to play during the day and especially at night (when I usually read).

Looking at the charter that @Samthane added, I would probably go with the following top3:

  • 1f
  • 0f
  • d1/c1

White on black.

Here’s a screenshot of this page:

And of a game:

This is accomplished through the use of the “Dark Reader” Chrome extension.

I wonder what my Avatar looked like on your page when it was black?

Wow. I find that headache-inducing! I didn’t expect I would respond that way, but I can’t even look directly at it.

Yes Black on white and white on black are quite harsh. One should use off-white for background/foreground ideally.

Especially since most computer screens are set to “sun tan at a thousand paces” out of the box and most people never adjust the settings

Quite the opposite for me, actually. When I look at black on white for too long I get a headache, which is why I inverse my colors.

I think part of the reason is due to my large, bright monitor. The black helps dim the light output without me needing to set the brightness back and forth from gaming to web-browsing.
