One Knight Stand - King Arthur x Among Us Apocalyptic Road Trip (WIP 1.4M+ words)(UPDATE 9/28/26 200k+ - MC's Mini Solo Adventure + The Museum Heist)

Trueee but when you wear the suit it marks it as formal vs when you wear the trench coat it does not

If what you want is to trigger Adrian’s comment about formal wear, you could always start the game wearing a suit and then change into a trench coat later!

Or (I may be wrong about this, I never took this option myself) isn’t there an option to type in your own outfit name at the very bottom of the list?

EDIT: With some help from the lovely Discord community, I can confirm that YES, you can customize your own “suit,” and keep the characteristics of it!

For the River Avon mentioned in the chapter two dream (I’m not hallucinating here, am I?)—author, are you interpreting River Avon to mean Afan or just the English modernization of the Welsh word for river, which is afon?

In other words, is it Afan River (Afon Afan) or River River (Afon Avon)?

I would like to make a wordplay somewhere based off its canonical interpretation. If no preference, then I’ll just end up doing whatever amuses me most.

Thank you for your explanation. I did think it was strange our MC would call it River Avon, River River, but it is a little funny to not call it that.

When you have the time, is it possible Camelot also knows of River Severn by chance? Only if it’s no trouble.

Random questions regarding some greyed out options:

  1. What circumstances lead to your “kidnapping” by Merlin and Adrian in chapter 1? I thought you either agree to go with them or refuse and die. But there are a couple of times in the next chapter where you can accuse them of abducting you, which has me confused :face_with_spiral_eyes:
  2. Talking with Adrian during your down time there’s greyed out dialogue mentioning a detective reaching out to question you about Zain’s death at the fencing club. The use of air quotes around the word “accident” has me curious. Is there an option to kill him on purpose or something? And why does this detective suspect you?

RE: the kidnapping

If your affinity with Adrian is high enough, he will blackmail Merlin into kidnapping the MC when they refuse the call.

RE: the “accident“

This one I am less sure about, but I think if you are possessed in the restroom during Fencing Club your demon-possessed self might be involved in Zain’s death.

I find it funny that if you get possessed earlier, that part of the story progresses like normal!

Thank you for clarifying the kidnapping. As for the “accident”, I’ve played possessed and let Zain die but never had a detective contact me as a suspect.

Hmm… I’ll look at the code later if no one clarifies this before then. I should be able to trace the actions required for that option to unlock.

Yep, this is what all the custom clothes, hair dye, tattoos, fav. drinks, and such options are for – you just have to be careful how you word the text input to make certain it’ll grammatically fit into the sentences that call on that coding.

Otherwise, the customization coding is an abomination, so I won’t be adding any other options in there; people will need to customize their own options out of what’s already available.

This is the Britonnic “Aβon” (River) in the fifth/sixth centuries under Britonnic rule. What’s known nowadays as the actual modern-day River Avon would probably have been important enough back then to simply be known as the River. (i.e. the Avon, since I’m using the most common modernizations for most people/place’s names instead of going all β on everyone ).

Then the Saxons came along, overran the Britons, and kept the name of the river the same but, either not knowing or caring what Avon/Aβon meant, tacked the name “River” onto it as well.

So for anyone who understood both languages, the River River. Most of Camelot would probably just call it the Avon (which is probably what I’ll be doing in the game going forward since it’s already been introduced at this point.)

You mean like the security guard MC bugging out during their conversation with Adrian? That version of the MC should still be able to trigger the demonic fencing freakout if they look where they shouldn’t in the restroom.

There are multiple reasons why Detective Sheridan might not be reaching out to the fencingfreak MC, depending on whether the world thinks MC is currently dead, or if the police have reason not to try and tip off the MC that they’re investigating, or if MC is a cop themself etc.

Someone code-diving could clarify the details.

Guess I know what I’m doing tonight then.

OK, so the variables to look at here are “fencing_freak,” “not(cop),” not(sms_cop)" and “cop_go.” Let’s go through them one by one.

This option requires you to get the “fencing_freak” variable by looking in the obviously demon-infested restroom stall while changing during fencing club:

However, if you notice, you need to have (fencing_freak) AND not(cop) and not(sms_cop) OR (cop_go)

Let’s look at not(cop) and not(sms_cop) first, what do these mean?

Well, not(cop) simply means that the “cop” variable is NOT set to true… so, you can’t be a Police Detective:

“sms_cop” refers to the text message you receive from the detective.
If you notice, this text is actually pretty difficult to trigger. You have to either freak out at fencing (or distract the security guard at the apartment building so that Adrian can tackle him) AND the fire at the apartment building can’t have burned down the entire building (or the majority of it). You also can’t be a cop yourself, OR a biologist.

As for “cop_go” this is the variable for if you ARE a Police Detective.

…hmmm, I’m kinda scratching my head over how you can show Adrian the text message from Detective Sheridan if not(sms_cop)…

It’s always fascinating to see how others code their games. I loved the detailed explanation and examples you’ve provided. Thank you.

My computer science professor would be so proud of of the variables names. Meanwhile, you’ll have to pry my overly long and detailed variable names divided by chapters from my cold dead hands!

Anyways, as the fencing route is my favorite route, I’ve personally never triggered that text. Not even during my Hemophobia challenge run.

Is it sad to say that that was one of the first variants I got? What can I say—Adrian is stingy and Arthur is sleeping, so what’s a guy to do?

Oh yeah. I always do Fencing Club (for the striptease scene) and I remember the first time I was combing through the fencing club meeting code and my eyes got wider and wider as I saw how much content was there that I’d never encountered.

A highlight was MC needing emergency medical care, and Lust MC can flirt with the paramedic, prompting Adrian to say, “yeah, MC always does that…”

Not sad at all! Adrian is lucky Lust MC is putting up with his breadcrumbing. Especially when he has the audacity to get jealous over them!

Returning to this: I checked. You can’t get fencing_freak (nor the polo equivalent) if you have mindcontrol. The option won’t be selectable.

My fav is having a paramedic MC who’s been completely silent suddenly start barking orders at the last moment.

PSA - Import/Export of Save Files

New Mini-update: All versions of the game hosted on my site (so, not the Itch.io version) have been updated to include a modded version of the previous save system smPlugin that now allows exporting & importing of the save slots (including in bulk) as .json files.

I decided to go ahead and push this through ahead of the big upcoming Chapter2-6 update for all those whose browsers have been going “That’s a nice save file you have there… it’d be a shame if something happened to it *purges all data*.”

If you don’t see the new save system at the top of the game, you’ll need to clear the cache for the OKS website. If you’re on desktop, you can also try a hard refresh (CTRL + F5 on Windows, CMD + SHIFT + R on Mac) first and see if that works.

Note: This won’t do anything about Choicescript saves corrupting after a big update, but at least it’s a nice backup for those whose saves kept mysteriously going missing.

It’s a bit tetchy. Sometimes you’ll need to reload the page to get the save slots to properly populate (particularly if you’re doing a large bulk import of saves). Sometimes the browser will hang a bit the first time you try to load a newly imported save (it seems to be as fast as ever after the first time though).

And then when I tried filling out all 100 slots to test the bulk storage, I ran face-first into the QuotaExceededError at slot 88, as it seems Supermium has the OKS localStorage capped at 5.7MB (gee, thanks, Supermium!)

I believe most people not on CogDemos have moved to using the newer ChoiceScriptSavePlugin instead of smPlugin, but if there’s anyone out there still using smPlugin that would like the modded code for importing/exporting save files, just hit me up for it.

I started out with overly long & detailed variable names so that it would be easy to tell what they’re doing… then I got tired of typing out adrian_antagonistic and adrian_bond five million times and thus created shortcut versions of the variables that get reused over and over again.

Hmm… I’ve made a note to go back and check that at some point to see whether it’s a bug or I purposefully coded it that way for some reason I can’t fathom right now.

That would probably have been called the Habren back then.

Fair.

Thanks.

I was creating an OKS TTRPG (like this).

Damn i really loved the game, not gonna lie the lying about Amnesia and hiding bruise while being possesed and little obsessed is peak. Especially if i’d semi RP Mordred from certain popular IP in her energetic and bratty way. 10/10 can’t wait for more (love horror aspects the most)

I decided to commission a character reference sheet for my OKS MC, Jennifer “Jen” Jones. :sparkles:
She’s a Cuckoo Serenade Horny Lust Changeling MC who is crazy about Adrian.

Ah, yes. Here it is. My new obsession.

(imagine I’m like, turning on my chair stroking a mean-looking cat)

I knew I was going to like OKS because the pitch being a mix of roadtrip, Apocalypse (not post-), Arthurian legends and the saboteur thing nailing quite exactly what specifics I love most in stories, but… YOOOO! :sob: Hazard you didn’t have to go so hard!! This is absolutely incredible from start to finish, and while my knowledge of Arthurian lore kind of ends with growing up with Guinevere Jones, I do know my fairies and can I say I lost my damn mind when I saw Melusine and Pressyne mentioned in the guide (I’ve been writing a thing about them myself!!! :squinting_face_with_tongue:). Ok maybe I should’ve expected it considering Avalon plays a part in their legend, but still. I wonder what the three Ladies of the Lake think of Starbucks using their likeness. Will we see them turn into a dragon??? :fire::fire::fire:

Speaking of excitement for what’s to come, I’ll absolutely be camping here to share theories with y’all, because I’ve been reading I think the entirety of the wiki (THANK YOU @myeraland :purple_heart: YOU’VE BEEN DOING AN AMAZING JOB) … And I’m still hungry for more theorizing…

I don’t really have much critiques at hand (usually I take notes when reading WIPs but this time I forgot™) except I would be eternally grateful for an option to deactivate touch-slide controls like on cogdemo, as I’ve had to restart quite a few times after scrolling and accidentally picking a random choice. Which could be very very funny as a challenge for a Possessed run!! But I wasn’t:sob: I’m not sure how realistic a request it is, though.

On the flip side, this has everything I love— the horror is really good, the characters are absolutely lovely even if they might want to kill me, the drama is foreshadowed to be excellent, and a couple of scenes had me cackling out loud (I think the funniest one was when I tried a run while hiding the Mark and both Adrian and I rammed into each other trying to protect the other one, to Merlin’s exasperation— I was on the floor. Like Adrian and MC, I presume. :sob:)

As for character/stats, I have my first playthrough stats somewhere but I’ve been diverging a little since then. I’ve been playing Nev Doe (short for Nevada Jane Doe :folded_hands: no relation to Broderick) (also I find it funny since while differently pronounced, Nev is very close to the name Niamh, so now almost the entirety of the cast has a weirdly relevant name), another Amnesiac fairy princess cuckoo. I laughed so so hard when I saw we could play a streamer (Internet Hobby) so I made Nev a full e-girl weeb gamer obsessed with Monster Energy Drinks, the kind with a very dedicated army of discord mods— which is absolutely not foreshadowing. :crown: The idea of a cuckoo streamer (nichely famous as the Nevada Jane Doe) sometimes going on nonsensical rambles that are truly prophecies-in-code, and Adrian joining a subreddit of subscribers who think it’s an ARG, is way too funny to me. Since I learned Gwen is also a streamer, I’m begginggg for us to know each otherrrrr. :sob::purple_heart: Would I reach the highest possible Internet Presence if I was a Newscaster and not working at McBuckways? Yup. Don’t worry, iT’S fiNE.

Of course the addiction is Internet, and we will always remember Fou the micropig. Lucid Dreamer, because you cannot offer me dream powers without me clicking it faster than light (I didn’t realize the Arthur Dream Sequence in chapter 2 was kind of rare :sob:), and kind of coincidentally with very high Magic stat. Swears like a trucker to the algo’s annoyance, and an Arthurian newbie if it wasn’t for Caleb Degaré that she loves (interesting surname, as a french-speaker :teacup_without_handle:). Oh, oh, and of course, Percy’s (platonic?) soulmate. The fact that they both look like they star in a My Chemical Romance video means they seem to multiply.

Secret, Club, Phobia and Vice-wise is where it kinda diverges into different realities because I’m not 100% locked into a canon yet. I first chose Changeling just because I love weird fae in the modern era, but I’m growing really attached to the Liar, especially with what theorizing seems to imply and the story it tells. Imposter felt a little weird for the character, and Serial Killer while telling a really cool story isn’t really my cup of tea (I don’t personally need the revenge quest, not yet at least). Club kinda depends on stats and thus said secret, so I’m often picking Book Club (and playing Polo) if only because it makes the most sense for a nearly broke character, although I’ve tested Fencing the most. Vice has been the most fluid, but Nev seems to grow more and more towards Sloth and Greed, with a sliiight Greed preference especially when Lying About Amnesia. And in that same vein, I really like the story of a Nyctophobic Liar, since they seem to… know things. Yes that means I have to farm Willpower. :squinting_face_with_tongue:

After some codediving, I think I’m on the path to being Guinevere, and the story it would tell is really, really cool to me. Especially if the theories are correct and Adrian is Lancelot. Being the last hope of the person they both used to love but have hurt? Doing so against the literal apocalypse? Across time and space? THE MELODRAMA! If I can solve the love triangle thing with polyamory it’s gonna be even better. Also, the idea of Merlin and Adrian being convinced Nev is Percival only for her to end up being a High Queen rendered cuckoo by clairvoyance and lucid dreamer shenanigans is PEAK to me.

Alright, yapping ends here. At least it shows how much I enjoyed my playthrough!! I’ll have to do a quick one again to snatch my stats though because I forgot to do so!!

EDIT: Omg I absolutely forgot to mention you @Notice_me_senpai but I’ve lurked a bit and I want to thank you too for your own theorizing and compiling, it’s been a great read!!! Also the way our girls have so much in common, I’m quietly gushing— SOULMATE GET!
