One Knight Stand - King Arthur x Among Us Apocalyptic Road Trip (WIP 1.2M+ words)(UPDATE 12/1/25 74k+ - Scouting the Heist)

The possibility of each of the ROs also representing one of the Secrets/Vices has already been discussed, but I wanted to dig into it a bit more because I’ve been thinking a lot about Cassandra lately.

Cassandra = Changeling Secret

In public posts on Tumblr (I will add some linked examples later) and also on Patreon (I can’t disclose these examples for obvious reasons) there’s a lot of hints that Cassandra is a fae.

People have already made the obvious connection that she might be Morgana le Fay, the current Queen of Avalon, who is an ally of Arthur and one of the guardians protecting his body. While I love Morgana (as a little girl with #girlboss aspirations but who didn’t want to crossdress to pass as a knight, Morgana was always my favorite female Arthurian character) and I am certain she’s going to be relevant later in the story, I have some doubts that she’s incognito as Cassandra. For one, I’m unsure if Harbingers need to be reincarnations or not. Could someone from the “Unavailable for Reincarnation” section of Merlin’s Guide, who has been alive in the Otherworld since the time of Camelot, participate in the Lesser or Greater Circle as long as they have some human blood in them? I don’t recall ever seeing this confirmed or denied anywhere. Secondly, since Morgana is the QUEEN of Avalon AND one of the most powerful people guarding Arthur, I find it unlikely that she would leave Avalon, especially since, as the Queen of Avalon, I’m sure she has plenty of subordinates she could send in her stead.

Which brings me to…

I think it’s far more likely that Cassandra is a changeling - either Morgana’s daughter, or the daughter of one of the myriad damsels of the lake (I think her fae parentage is definitely of the “strange women lying in ponds” sort) and that her “mission” as a changeling is to represent Avalon’s interests in the apocalypse.

To go along with this, a changeling CAN be a reincarnation, as seen with the changeling MC, and while there are plenty of watery tarts to choose from here I believe Cassandra is most likely the reincarnation of Ninianne. (Hi @Allenby2 I know you’re going to crucify me for this take :face_with_hand_over_mouth:) Ninianne is one of the FEW lake ladies who died (and could thus be reincarnated), she is featured in the Major Allies section of Merlin’s Guide, and she comes up a couple times in dialogue with Merlin. She’s an important character with major ties to other important characters. If she’s not well-known enough to be one of the Camelot backgrounds for the MC, it’s not a stretch to believe she’s going to appear as a major character (and at this point in time, I am feeling very confident that neither of the two female Camelot backgrounds are Ninianne)

I will be delulu Ninianne is one of the Camelot backgrounds until we get official reveals. :joy:

Maybe you convinced me because it actually makes more sense for her to be the reincarnation of Ninniane. I thought Cassandra was Morgana because she seems to know what’s going on (And Morgana would have left Avalon because of the two circles that went wrong), but maybe that’s because she grew up in Avalon and found out she was a harbinger there, but that doesn’t mean she already knows who she was in her past life.

And I’m also confident that Ninniane isn’t one of the reincarnations (even though it would be pretty cool to be her). I would bet on Guinevere, Morgause, and Percival. But I have no idea who the 4th reincarnation would be. AAAAAAAAA
You all have some theory about who the 4th reincarnation would be? Maybe it’s someone from the “Major Neutrals” category because I don’t think everyone will be from the “Major Allies” category.

@Notice_me_senpai In my opinion, this choice proves that it is not just the variables Bg1-4 that calculate which reincarnation MC matches best. This choice needs to be valid for some reincarnation, but Bg2-4 doesn’t gain points, so I think A is one reincarnation, B is another, etc. Maybe I’ll make a guide compiling the choices Ag1-4, Bg1-4, etc. :sob: (There is a high chance that our opinions about who the reincarnations are will change  MAYBE, just MAYBE, Mordred is among them because in Camelot’s dream there are some choices that remind me a lot of him, like feeling jealous of someone being Arthur’s personal knight (Lancelot)).

Yep, but it is hard to tell either way with how sneaky the author is, giving us access to codediving, and instead of making things easy to find out they went out of their way to include us in the mystery; I genuinely love it.
It feels like we are being fed crumbs of information both inside and outside the game. We could be purposefully misdirected in this investigation all of you are doing, and it would be an extension of the game.
Both from the perspective of building up the interest of their audience by having people theorize and stop us from just spoiling everyone despite keeping the code open; it has been played quite well.

Of course I am not saying that the author needs to keep it up, it works quite well but it might be exhausting. Still this way they get to keep their code open for people curious about their work; people who want to help catch errors; and of course the good old regular codedivers who just want to see the extent of the consequences of their choices.

“All four are canon characters from Arthurian lore, all four appear in Merlin’s Guide, all four are famous enough that you don’t need to have too much exposure to Arthurian lore to recognize them off the bat (although they aren’t all on the same level of legendary)”

So… I suppose it could be someone from Major Neutral, as long as they are well-known enough that someone with Arthurian knowledge level of “What’s a Camels-a-lot?” would recognize them. And honestly, as someone with “What’s a Camels-a-lot?” level of Arthurian knowledge, the only one that stands out to me in that section is Mordred…

An anon on Tumblr did some code-diving and had some thoughts.

“All I’ll say is that all the Camelot MCs will have some wiggle room in the exact tone that their canon Arthurian relationships take, but that the way you have the MC acting in the dream sequences is the major influence on what Camelot MC you end up with in the first place.”

“I didn’t pick a group composition of Camelot reincarnations that will be all great and hunky dory with each other.”

“The early Camelot flashback parts are basically the player taking a personality quiz to see which of the four pre-established roles they end up playing.”

What I find interesting about the choices where you lose -1000 points is that it’s always the same four variables, whereas, in other choices, the variables involved can switch up:

I am planning to create a public Google spreadsheet after the next major content update (in December) that will allow anyone to sort the choices in the Camelot dream sequence by variable, which should help a lot in determining what sort of personality each variable favors.

The only reason I’m waiting is that the author indicated earlier in this thread that they are going back to Chapter 2 and tweaking some things. Of course, feel free to create your own!

…yes, I can already see some changes from when I originally made my guide…

I’m coming around to this theory. Maybe Galahad died with the rest of the 2000 Circle, but being an ascended angel, he was able to reincarnate into the MC in 2005 without the karmic debt that would usually incur.

Given how knowledgeable the author is about Arthurian lore, I’d take this statement with a grain of salt.

This! So much! The author even knew about Inogen! She shows up in literally only ONE (obscure) Arthur story. I only even know about her because she’s my favorite wife for Arthur.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the MC’s potential past selves haven’t even been decided yet and all this speculation is a sneaky way of brainstorming that.

There are going to be people playing this (like myself lol) who aren’t very knowledgeable about Arthurian lore. I think making the MC’s Camelot background characters anyone can recognize makes it more accessible to a wider audience.

“Yes, the MC’s reincarnation matters. I picked everyone’s incarnations for very good reasons. My original plot draft of the story didn’t even use their modern names at all, but their original Arthurian ones.”

To be fair, if your knowledge of Arthurian lore comes from Fate, is it really the most authentic version? :joy:

Fair point. I’d still say being able to name more than five characters puts one’s knowledge of Arthuriana above that of the average person on the street.

Yeah. Especially since Merlin once mentioned that it’s theoretically possible for demons or angels to enter the mortal Limbo, though such a thing would be rather unorthodox.

How did you figure out that the Camelot MC in The Perils of Jousting is Guinevere? I always thought she was more likely to be the MC from Fighting Off the Medieval Stalker, because Arthur trusted them enough to hand over Marmyadose.

Makes sense. When I saw the line “No need, Sir ▇▇▇▇. I shall avenge him myself” I assumed this Camelot MC was a knight. But thinking about it more, it doesn’t necessarily have to mean they avenged Arthur through jousting (R.I.P. the potential Lancelot there).

Does anyone know if “Fear level = disturbed” is > 17 or is there a way to see its numeric value? Because I think it’s the only variable that’s dooming me to that fucking bed monster dead end. (strength 40% + agility trait, health 79, no injuries, no mind control, biker jacket, agoraphobia) There’s also mysterious “boozecount > 2”, I picked booze as favorite drink, didn’t accept drink from Adrian, didn’t use booze in the apartment so it should be <=1, right?

Alternatively, how do I hack save games, because let me tell you how much I’ve come to hate Adrian since I began this run: there are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word ‘hate’ was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of millions of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for Adrian at this micro-instant. Hate. Hate.

In The Perils of Jousting, the MC is sitting in the royal box watching the jousts next to Gawain (who is acting as Arthur’s body double with the assistance of a glamour from Merlin). The royal box is typically reserved for members of the royal family. Of course, this doesn’t confirm the MC is Guinevere, but the sassy responses available for this MC definitely brought to mind the few lines from Guinevere we’ve seen in other Patreon drabbles. I feel confident enough to claim it’s her.

Additionally, while warrior princess Guinevere would be neat (she’s wielding a gigantic lance in King Arthur: Legends Rise that I’ve been playing lately) the author has indicated that traditional gender roles were upheld more strictly in Camelot. So, I don’t think Guinevere would be the first of the 4 backgrounds to be swinging Marmaduke in battle.

My MC is a horny Lust MC crushing on Adrian, so I have to admit I was reading it with a certain bias, but yes… that was immediately what my mind jumped to as well. She’s going to help him polish his lance, if you catch my meaning… hey Adrian, where are you going?

Yes, Disturbed means your Fear level is over 17. Here’s the code from the stats screen:

Fear level code

Stat editing (desktop only)
  1. Press ctrl+shift+K or right-click and select Inspect
  2. Type this.stats.statname = number (ex. this.stats.body = 40) into the console and hit enter*
  3. Press the Next button at the bottom of the page (do NOT go to the Status page before doing this, as it will reset the stat)
  4. You can check the Status page now. Enjoy your OP playthrough!

*A list of all the stat names can be found on the startup page here.

If you do edit your stats, don’t submit them at the end of the game, as it would skew the data.

“If you want someone going into a gay panic in Camelot (and there are indeed those who would), then alas, Arthur isn’t the man for you. He was raised by an incubus. He’s slept with men before. Not as often as women, but still…”

Oh, and what’s this? From the Wikipedia page for The Mists of Avalon?

Merlin saying that “what happens in the High King’s bedchambers should stay there”…

Hey Adrian, I just want to talk… :smiling_face_with_horns:

Any other Arthur x Adrian x MC poly truthers out there? (Yes, Adrian gets to be in the middle)

I’ve also been thinking more about the MC Camelot backgrounds and their relation to Adrian’s preincarnation. Thinking about it from that perspective, the “chaste knight” background makes a lot more sense as Galahad than Percival, IF it is meant to have a connection to Lancelot. And Lancelot… well, considering how many people in the guide he was related to, lanced, or both… he has a lot of connections!

The discussion about how Adrian being Lancelot would play into the MC being Morgause (and why Adrian would be afraid of how the MC would feel about him after getting his memories back) also made me think about the childhood histories for the MC, which do seem to play into their Camelot backgrounds, going from the coding…

Background variables in the childhood history choices

Abandoned:

# That's right, I was abandoned.

				*set childhood "abandon"
				*set charm +5
				*set picture_subject "foster home"
				*set ag4 -1
				*set bg1 -1
				*set cg3 -1
				*set dg2 -1

Abused:

# That's right, I was taken by Child Protective Services.

				*set childhood "abuse"
				*set body +5
				*set picture_subject "foster family"
				*set ag4 -1
				*set bg1 -1
				*set cg3 +1
				*set dg2 -1

Accident:

# That's right, that accident ended my childhood.

				*set childhood "accident"
				*set mind +5
				*set picture_subject "family"
				*set ag4 +1
				*set bg1 -1
				*set cg3 -1
				*set dg2 +1

Amnesia:

# That's right, I have amnesia.

				*set childhood "amnesia"
				*set magic +5
				*set will +1
				*set ag4 +1
				*set bg1 +1
				*set cg3 +1
				*set dg2 +1
				*set picture_subject "desert"
				*set internet_presence +1

Galahad felt abandoned by his father. (Though, I feel like the stats you get from Amnesia, not to mention the Liar’s personality, fit Galahad more)

Morgause lost her entire family in a terrible “accident.”

Abused and Amnesia, though… hmm. I’m not connecting any dots here. And I’m not sure where Guinevere would fit in, either, and that’s the one Camelot background I am most sure about. Charm feels like the most appropriate stat for her, but who was she abandoned by? Her boyfriends? It sounds like Lancelot definitely never gave up on her, at the very least.

(I definitely think the Lust vice is meant to be connected to Guinevere)

# That's right, so I play the field a bit.
				*set vice "lust"
				*set vice_stat "Lust"
				*set lust true
				*set charm +5
				*set ag2 -1
				*set bg1 -1
				*set cg4 +1
				*set dg3 +1

Maybe Abused is someone who was taken from their family and raised by Ninianne, like Lancelot?
