Hey everybody, thanks for the stats & bug reports etc! I come bearing a preview of the first half of the next update. Which took entirely longer than expected… I need to check in here more often between preview updates.
Also, here are the schematics for the MC’s new temp home. Yes, it’s kind of important when you’re playing a saboteur game.
I’ve fixed all the typos on my version of the game, but some of the bug fixes will take some time I swear the continuity break with the masks on the street keeps reappearing like a ghost.
As was mentioned, the pets are already dead at the start of the story, but they’re far from forgotten. Depending upon the MC’s choices, they can get references to them popping up now & then. Sometimes they can even help you pass a stat check!
The drink varieties are just the most popular versions that popped up with a quick search to fill out the thematically relevant 13 slots. The custom drink option at the bottom should offer the same drawbacks/benefits as any of the default suggestions.
The Camelot people that the MC can call dibs on at this point are just the 13 (14- because I forgot Percival at the last moment) most well-known characters where Merlin & Adrian have something interesting to say.
You’ll be able to claim dibs on different people once the other Harbingers start showing up and the MC discusses the topic with them. I’ll make sure that Palamedes pops up as one of the later options. There’s actually a whole bunch of foreign knights (including Marine one of the few canonical female knights) but Palamedes is probably the most well known.
I actually almost added Cath Palug and Cavall to the pet names but in the end I decided not to include any name suggestions that would require a “This is the name of a minor character who might appear in the story, are you sure you want to use this name?” warnings. Best I can do is add in Petit Cru. (Spoilers: Petit Cru’s not showing up in the story).
The next Camelot dream sequence is an actual proper quest to go on (that even incarnations who might not normally be the questing type would be joining for… reasons)
That dialogue is triggered by the tell_dream variable which is toggled on by any of the following options…
- “Let me tell you about this strange dream I just had…”
- I launch into a long involved story regarding my terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
- I silently whip out my thirteen-page description of my past day including all details regarding my past work shift, my nightmare and strange injury, as well as the current haunted atmosphere of my apartment.
- I immediately launch into a detailed recounting of my strange dream and the strange contusion that followed it.
I looked through the code, but I don’t see anything else that could be flipping that variable on. LMK if you still keep getting that flavor text even if you didn’t choose one of those 4 options.
There’s actually dozens of different ways that can be done, it just depends upon the way you’ve built the MC up to that point. Charm is the main stat being tested there, but there are a whooole lot of fallback variables that can successfully pass that test even if the MC has the charm of a potato. One of the times even your wardrobe can save you.
Yeah, from what I understand, in published games the Achievements are stored online through the player’s CoG login. So the achievements for WIPs and such are temporary and can disappear after each session.

The reference to the potential rotting leg when the MC successfully escapes is actually an easter egg reference to the other route. They’re saying they don’t need healing because their leg isn’t rotting.
Also, I’m not sure what you mean about the phobophobic since that’s from an Ask on the Tumblr. Only the morganatic line is in the game, the rest is someone commenting on it.

Edit2: IDK if the mask bug is a script bug or a server bug but if it’s script: the thing about the masks in the street that I’m seeing related to the example I shared is that at count 3 the default description always includes the description about smelling through the mask, while the storefront search option (that can be picked before count 3) at label mc_enough2 always has the MC taking off their mask

And the mask was definitely a coding bug. I had the MC & Adrian remove their masks after the pub to fix another continuity error, but looks like I missed a different one. Hopefully that’s the last one since I searched for all mentions of mask(s) in that section of the code and everything else seems to be covered.
Adrian is so not pleased that’s the first thing that he ever heard the MC say. ![]()

Not yet, it’s still WIP. But the author’s currently working on chapter 2 because they said they wanted to put chapter 1 on the back burner for a bit.
