Offerering unofficial Free Beta Testing Help for First-Time Authors I have 6 years of experience

Hi everyone!

Please don’t be nervous to show me your work! Because I am autistic, I don’t see errors as “problems”—I just see them as something I can do to help a person. I don’t care if there are many misspelled words; I only care about helping you succeed.

I am offering my help as an unofficial beta tester specifically for first-time authors. I have 6 years of experience in the community (November 12th, 2020 – February 2026).

I am autistic, which means I don’t have a ‘switch’ for helping—I automatically want to help people in need. Because of my autistic ways, I don’t just ‘read’ a story; my brain automatically finds errors in any genre, including:

  • Misspelled words :writing_hand:

  • Logic or continuity errors :puzzle_piece:

  • Misgendering or pronoun errors :busts_in_silhouette:

I am doing this purely to be kind and truthful. I want to help you make your demo the best it can be. Whether you write Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or any other genre, my brain will find these errors automatically.

I’ve been a fan of these stories since I was 17, and now at 23, I want to use my experience to help new authors succeed. If you need a veteran, honest pair of eyes on your work, please let me know or send me a link!" I actually find the ‘hunt’ for errors and typos very fun and satisfying. Helping people who are in need of help truly warms my heart, and I love seeing other authors succeed!"

Hello! How will this work?

"Hello! Since I have 6 years of experience (November 12th, 2020 – February 2026), here is how I usually help:

I am autistic, which means I don’t have a ‘switch’ for helping—I just automatically want to help people in need. Because of my autistic ways, my brain automatically finds errors like misspelled words, logic breaks, and misgendering.

Please don’t be nervous to show me your work! I don’t see errors as ‘problems’ to judge—I just see them as something I can do to help a person. I actually find the ‘hunt’ for errors very fun and satisfying, and helping people truly warms my heart.

The best way to start is for you to send me a Private Message (PM) with your demo link. You can do this by clicking my name and hitting the blue ‘Message’ button. I’ll then send you a list of everything I find to help you succeed!" I’m actually excited to help you out:grin: if you say yes or no is fine with me it’s your choice as the author to respond in whatever way you want I’m just grateful at helping people who want my help:smiling_face:. Plus since I’m autistic I’m truthful I’m 100% never busy with anything so I’ll 100% help you with your demo.

I don’t know how to approach a Austic person but if you wanna beta test do this and please don’t create a forum about beta testing, that not how it works, if you wanna get notice for beta testing

Thanks, it’s very kind of you to offer!

My story is still in relatively early stages but as it nears completion, if we’re both still a part of this community and the offer is still open I’ll definitely bear this in mind!

Thank you! I’m autistic too, and I’m the same way. I’ve thoroughly tested my own work in progress, The Rise of Cthulhu, but it’s always possible that I’ve missed something, and another set of eyes wouldn’t hurt. I’ve just updated the demo with Chapter 2 yesterday, but it’s a long way from being finished.

…I think this person is offering to beta test for wips, not completed official games.

This isn’t really how things usually go here (and if you’re been part of this community as long as you say, I’m surprised you don’t know this). There are dozens of active WIP threads and you can just jump in and offer feedback to any of them.

They can definitely beta for any WIP threads of course, but perhaps they’re offering in case anyone who doesn’t get much traction and would like the extra help sees this post. They may also be unfamiliar with the forum in comparison to their experience with the games now that I’m rereading what they said.

That aside, this is not a game thread itself, so I moved it to the category for people who are offering their services. I hope that’s okay!

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I realized I forgot to mention I’m an unofficial beta tester. I’ve been a fan here for 6 years (since 2020), but I do this as a personal hobby because I love helping people.

I’m autistic and human too! As I mentioned, I love Isekai, but I also want to recommend a great show I found on Pluto called Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne—it’s Sci-Fi but has so much heart! I love using my ‘hunt’ for errors to help new authors in a heart-to-heart way. It warms my heart to help, and I want to keep it fun for everyone!" Sorry for the confusion though i feel silly forgetting to add the word unofficial in my first post i feel so embarrassed :sweat_smile: I apologize to everyone for the misunderstandings I hope this post helps everyone understand me and I hope I don’t sound rude i would hate to be rude to every wonderful person on this website but thanks for the responses everyone I’m grateful that people responded to my words so thank you:grin:.

Hey thanks for the help of moving it to the correct place i appreciate it a lot so thank you:grin:but I also forgot the word unofficial in my first post sorry for the misunderstanding this is my first time making a topic to tell people that I’m here to help them I’ve been doing my unofficial beta testing for a long time I thought getting this information to new authors would be the kind thing to do. I’m trying to let new time authors know about me so I can help people who need there demos looked though.

No, you are not rude but a nice person, I was just confuse about you saying you wanna beta test but in fact you wanted to be a proof reader for all potential authors

Hi Elemental just so you know I’m embarrassed that I forgot too add the word unofficial to the words beta tester and I’m grateful that you tried to give me the official way so thank you for the picture I’ll try it out tomorrow so thank you so much for the help:blush::grin: if the official way turns out not to be my thing then just know I’m thankful for your help. Ps this is something I thought you would want to know autism just means irl we autistic people are socially awkward with making friends like 100% awkward and it’s hard to make friends when the individual is 100% awkward at it and 100% awkward with words and we think more logically but the more important thing is autistic people have big hearts we love to help people well i love helping people and my beta testing is a choice i chose to help people because it makes my day to help authors i hope this information wasn’t too rude I just wanted you to know autistic people are regular normal people, just with lots of extra things added in that make us unique. You can just think of us as awkward people who are awkward with everything! We also take things very literally! Like if someone says it’s going to ‘rain cats and dogs,’ an autistic person might really think animals are going to fall from the sky (I know what it means now, but others don’t). I just hope this helps you understand us better so it’s easier to make friends with autistic people in the future. sorry for the long message dude ugh really sorry for it being so long:sweat_smile:. Autistic people are bad at being social because we think in literal ways like 100% and we are find it hard to make friends just awkward at making friends and awkward with words. I want to make friends i have some group thing for anime that I want to do in future it’s going to be awesome once I go the anime place I’ll be bonding with people it’ll be awesome just thought this would help you understand autistic people are awkward with everything but they truly love and want friends it sucks not having friends it’s just lonely for me plus it’s never going to happen the group place isn’t near me it is in the place i live in but logically Iknow I need a car to get there I don’t have one I’m in my 20s but getting a car just means so much work and lots paperwork like the information for even getting a driving license is a lot plus cars are so expensive to even buy.
