here’s what amy has said ab sub romances, probably talked about it a few more times but i’m not super up to date with the tumblr
They probably have something they can add to the MC’s story without being full-on, endgame romances. Maybe there’s a certain theme a particular sub-RO could explore, or a certain level of drama they might bring to the story (or a lack of it, in L’s case apparently). Part of me is suspicious of a few of the sub-ROs, wondering if maybe one of them will end up kissing and telling to the magazines or something Something like that could add to MC’s story by showing how with their rising fame, they suddenly have to be more careful than normal people do with who they decide to pursue relationships with lest that kind of thing happens. But I don’t know if anything like that would actually happen or not.
I also think regular ROs would at least most definitely have options for a happy ending / ending where MC and RO end up in a relationship. Sub-ROs, if I were to guess, don’t necessarily have that guarantee. Ex. I personally think Blake’s route probably won’t have a happy ending due to plot reasons such as Blake maybe fucking the MC over (in a not sexy way ) or something along those lines. But the MC having some sort of sexual / romantic / fling relationship with them is an interesting idea and something I think people would have wanted if they weren’t an option at all. So I’m down for it, and I personally would be okay with this kind of route existing even if it only ends badly (or at least doesn’t end with Blake and MC kissing and running off into the sunset together).
OOOOo interesting!! Can’t wait to meet them. But I’m lowkey scared of the Sub-Ros Because when it comes to them you don’t know what Amy will pull.
I love me some Blake, but like you said i’m totally nervous that she’ll decide that it’ll be a “never meant to be” ending with them. Like can you imagine, spending the whole game, building something or THINKING you’re building something with one of the sub romances and then BOOM at the end it’ll be some crap like “you walk into backstage and catch them canoodling a groupy” or “they just used us” etc.
I’d take sliding down a wall, coughing and sobbing, literally, at that point; because that’s exactly what i’ll be doing.
That is exactly what I picture. I think L might be the only sub-romance option who will have a happy ending as a possibility. The rest? I think it’s just going to be a mess, especially Blake–given her love of “angst”, that path will probably bring nothing but hell for the MC.
I’m hoping to shape at least one of my MCs into a complete, stone cold hard ass by the end, so if she saw that, she’d just shake her head and say she expected as much from the asshole.
Aww, poor G! I don’t know why, but I have a soft spot for G.
The only reason I’m tempted to try the poly is because I think the MC is going to get screwed over, one way or the other–either they can be a third wheel with G/V and be treated like a dirty little secret that can never see the light of day (with Viktor constantly trying to destroy them and get rid of them if he gets wind of it) or they can have their career/rep ruined by “stealing” G or V from the other one. It’s a lose/lose situation, and that’s assuming MC makes the right choices to get G or V to fall for them and leave the other one, instead of just being an affair that gets fuck’n’chucked out the door as soon as G gets bored (I don’t think V would get bored, but I think it’s possible she could get bullied into dumping the MC, even if she’s starting to have feelings).
I’m still wondering if Elliot is somehow tied to Seven…
Yeah, I think that’s what the subromances will be, except for maybe L. And Blake, but that’s only because Blake would use the sex to get answers from the MC so they could stab MC in the back, lol.
I guess it’s the equivalent of “few night stands” or friends with benefits – casual sex for fun with both parties understanding it’s not going to develop into anything deeper.
I thank Amy for letting me become a homewrecker. G is mine! Feels exciting to have G cheat on Victoria. Can’t wait to do it in the actual game beside the Valentine special.
I’ll wait until I know more how Amy will work everything out with our RO’s (how she will wreck us and our RO’s
)
I liked the Valentine with Seb, the shy Golden Retriever was adorable. I think he’s only that shy because he got dumbed too often from others (my thought, could be different from the real idea from Amy)
I actually can’t decide beetwen O, 7 and Seb for my first “full” romance
Ok I mean, O is winning BUT I’ll flirt with 7 and Seb as well lmao
That’s what multiple mcs are for haha
Hm, I wonder if raccoon will have any reactivity with durian raccoon… Seven did seem mad when he saw a scribble on MC’s arm, but he didn’t react much otherwise. I hope for drama and love triangles.
Does anyone thinks mc and seven can truly get a happy ending together?
I can see that happening if your mc is taking a more platonic approach but as for a romanced ex!seven…I don’t think so. Seven as we know, doesn’t let go of grudges easily, is stubborn as hell and is also prone to not expressing their desires properly. They will tell you no but actually want you to do the opposite. They told mc they were fine with the vote but later had an outburst over it. I can not picture any kind of talk with seven in the future leading to anything fruitful. There is just too much bad blood between the two. From seven ghosting mc for a month, going out of their way to be seen with other people, trying to stick up their new found friendship into the mc’s face…yeah its not looking good to me. I think even if both sides talk it out and get back together it will still be unhealthy. They just seem like not good for each other at all. I think the biggest mercy both parties could offer each other would be staying away and ignoring the other’s existence.
HOWEVER. This is just me speculating lol. We are at only chapter two out of twenty and amy writes huge mammoth like updates. I am sure she has something planned and I am very curious to see seven’s development and see them grow out of that seven year old mentality and playground logic they love using lol.
As a Seven-mancer I shall be averting my eyes to all nonbelievers to ensure that I stay in a constant state of delusional bliss.
I’m pretty sure it’s possible to have a happy ending with all the ROs. Whether it’s harder for some ROs, that I don’t know
Seven is still very much hung up on MC, and MC can potentially have the same attitude towards them. Them getting back together is fairly feasible. Would them getting back together be unhealthy? Sure, but then so would be like half of other romances in the game.
I believe a happy ending with Seven is possible. Amy said that she wants the MC to be with their RO by the half-point mark of the story because she wants to explore the relationship too not just the starting a romance phase, so idk how much Seven can potentially grow in 10ish chapters but this is fiction after all and in ch.2 there were already hints of Seven ‘softening’ to the MC because they still care a great deal. In all honesty, I think there’s a lot to unpack in that route (trust issues, abandonment issues, jealousy, codependency, Avina, and so on), and I believe Amy has the skills to write a compelling arc for Seven’s romance/friendship but I’m not sure all Seven and MC problems realistically can be solved in game though.
I think it’s possible, but I don’t think it will look anything like their old relationship (be it friendship or romantic). For one thing, I think there will be a lot more distance between Seven and the MC, especially if it’s a romance. Just reading Amy’s tumblr, I get the feeling that, a “healthy” relationship with Seven will be very much, “You have your life and I have mine, but we can be together when we have time.”
So they love each other and are committed (hopefully?), but they go their own way most times because they have their own bands, their own friends, and their own lives that don’t really allow for the closeness they once had. I also think that accepting Savina’s “friendship” will be part of it and, in some ways, Savina will be closer than a romance-oriented MC and Seven, since they’ll spend far more time together than MC/Seven, what with being in a band together.
Part of the reason I see it this way is due to the way G/V’s marriage is presented. Amy clearly has way more sympathy for V and sees her as “better” than G, if you will. The narrative stressed the fact that V has sacrificed everything to further G’s career, puts her needs second, and goes by whatever Viktor tells her. It’s not healthy for her, and it’s unfair to her, really.
The thing is, though, she’s not sacrificing for G or ruining her life to make him happy. It’s more about duty for her. Their marriage is more of a product than anything, existing to stabilize G (and keep them out of trouble) and to have a permanent babysitter for G, which is exactly what V comes off as to me. I think a “healthy” ending for her will be her focusing on her own career and her own happiness. I think her marriage to G will be presented as secondary to that–so she may stay with G but the two of them will become less glued together (visibly, to the public) or she may leave G and go her own way. Either way, G and V will no longer be so joined at the hip, with V following G around to keep them in line the way Viktor orders her.
Because of the above, I’m thinking a romanced MC and Seven will parallel that version of healthy. They do their own thing, have their own lives, and if they split up, then they may shed a tear or two then move on because they aren’t that attached anymore. Their lives aren’t about each other, it’s self-focused, and they’ll end up with a wider circle of friends.
I do think a Seven romance will be more difficult than any of the others, save for G, V, or G/V. Splitting up that marriage is going to be a mess, and probably difficult to navigate in a way that gets a happy ending for the MC (which, again, will be a more distant relationship instead of a “us against the world” kind of thing). Helping the marriage mend and being a part of it will mean accepting that you’re a dirty little secret from now on, but I think it will be presented in a way that will be “healthy” because the MC will, just like everyone else, have their own life and put themself first, not really “needing” anyone else.
This may be way off, of course, but things Amy has said on tumblr makes me think that the romantic relationships are seen as, proverbially speaking, sprinkles on the cake. You’ve got the cake (your life and career) and the icing (close friendships), and the sprinkles are just something extra. You don’t really need them, but they’re nice to have.
On the other hand, having two different romances to basically lead to the same thing would be rather repetitive/redundant. So perhaps their outcomes will actually be different (at least as options)
I’m so ready G my beloved
Well, we know there will be a bunch of possible endings for each “romance”, at least one of which will be a good one (I’m a realist, so I’m betting on a single good ending with a shit ton endings that are varying degrees of bad). I’m just saying that I think the ending that will lead to something other than misery will look like that.
Like I said, I just get the impression that Amy doesn’t put that much value on romances, in general. A “healthy” romance seems to mean having clear lines of separation and a nice big gap between you and your RO, without the kind or degree of closeness Seven and MC once had, even if you take out the co-dependency part of it. It also means being able to see people walk away without really being bothered by it, since she said a “healthy” Seven will be okay with losing the MC, even if they are romanced in the future (I just picture this as Seven shrugging and being like, “whatever, dude, your loss!”, lol).
And we also know Seven will be healthy by the end of the game, no matter what the MC does. I’m just doing the math… with more variables than numbers, which requires a whole hell of a lot of guessing based on what we’ve seen so far!
While i get it, i’m also not sure if people who get into romance with Seven are actually interested in getting this sort of “healthy” relationship and/or would consider it a good ending, and not just something eye-rolling boring and vanilla.
I mean, if that’s what one is into, then there’s a number of other ROs in the game who already come pre-assembled in this way and you know that’s what you’re going to get with them, experience-wise. Picking Seven of all people for this kind of outcome feels rather silly, in the sense it just adds a lot of unnecessary legwork. And if such pick is based on “i can fix them!” then the inherent problem with this approach is, once you do “fix them” what was the draw for the pairing in the first place is gone, while the savior complex is thirsting for another victim target.
